Returned after a two year absence for an all you can eat luncheon (8 of us) . This family run business remains excellent- both food and atmosphere. Our waitress was helpful and keep our requests filled. The Kobe beef, Wagu beef and noodle selections were many as were the vegetables and fish options; portions piled high. Loved the quail eggs and numerous broth selections to cook your foods. All you can eat luncheon so come hungry, Make sure to end your meal with the green tea ice cream.

    My Mushroom broth. So tasty.

I've eaten at Tao's Hotpot twice now the first time is was 2 years ago for their soft opening which was great. My friend and I came for the vegan hotpot. The first time they didn't have a lot of vegan options of the hotpot , but we made due and my friend spoke to the owner about other vegan food offerings for the hotpot. We come again and the vegan hotpot is amazing so many delicious veggies to choose from and the price of a child hotpot is super great and cheaper than most hotpot and includes appetizers in the price $19.59. The also have meat options which is Course C which is $33.99 only available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Course B which is $35.99 and Course A which is $38.99 and you can enjoy all the meat and seafood offerings which this option. The service was a little slow this time as there was only 1 waitress to handle all the tables, but it was no biggie. The food is so delicious and there are like 6-8 broths to choose from. Went with the mushroom broth is was so rich and flavorful. The inside is basic nothing special. There is plenty of searing to dining in and in the take I believe they have booths, but I always sit in the front of the restaurant. I also love you get your own individual pot for your hotpot so know sharing if you aren't comfortable with that. I will definitely be going back again soon. I believe it's the only Hotpot Spot in Folsom. The quality and price cannot be beat. SYOY! :)

First time at Taos and I was pleasantly surprised. Several meat options that were very fresh. Veggie option came with tofu, mushrooms, pumpkin, baby carrots, spinach and cabbage. Everything is ayce so it was nice to get refills of anything you ate. The ramen noodles were quite fresh and nice texture as well. The spicy soups can come with more spicy sauce on the side which you can increase the broth spice level as you wish. The broth was a bit heavy for me so I knocked off a star but otherwise great hot pot place to try and their meats were good

Amazing!! We love Tao's for date night and gatherings when friends are in town. There is never a wait so our group is always seated right away and service is wonderfully consistent every visit. They recently added a few new soups, and today I tried the Tom Yum and it has become my new favorite! I enjoyed the Spicy Tonkotsu previously which is so delicious and creamy, but that Tom Yum base is fragrant and definitely a must try. Beware their spicy is spicy, and they use lots of szechuan which leaves your mouth feeling a tingly kick. We always opt for Course B, but upgrading to Course A entitles you to extra options like scallops, lobster tail, and also Angus Ribeye. The meat quality here is outstanding and you leave feeling full and clean. I recommend the Certified Angus, Australian Lamb, and Fatty Kobe for meats. They are sliced to the perfect thickness that cooks quick but also soaks up lots of flavor from your soup base. The menu offers plenty of appetizers and sides to choose from; a couple of my favorites are the Fried Chicken Wings and Quail Eggs. I remember when Tao's first opened in Folsom and I am so excited to see this business continue to serve our community. I love this place and will continue to bring new faces along to try!

Our first and favorite hot pot so far here in the area. They always have a good amount of tables filled up, but the waitress always comes and checks how we're doing and if we need any more food. 3rd time coming here and we all tried different soup bases. We've learned NOT to gorge ourselves on the sides and noodles, so had a lot more meat servings than before. Our favorite is the Angus Brisket and the fattier Kobe Beef. They cook so well in the broth and the amount of fat on them aren't overpowering. The sides are also very good, with our favorites being the mushrooms and the shrimp balls. All the ingredients are super fresh and taste great. Will keep coming back!

Private pots for your enjoyment! Don't have to share. Yay!

Yesss! Right into highlights - AYCE Shabu, got option A to enjoy the succulent Angus Ribeye, Tonkosu broth (spicy or regular per your preference), and Vege Bowl for a good mix of vegetables to go with your own hot pot. Option B with Kobe Beef is good too but doesn't "melt in your mouth" as their Angus Ribeye does. CRITICAL to know that they follow traditional Japanese business hours, meaning they're closed from 2:30-5 PM (learned the hard way). Found the closest spot to Blue Oaks, Roseville that resembles a decent shabu similar to those we've become accustomed to in SoCal! We've been in the hunt for a good shabu spot since moving to Roseville and few months ago. This Folsom shabu spot is the diamon in the rough we've been searching for. Plenty of parking, plenty of seating for small and large parties, nice selection of meats and vegetables for AYCE shabu, Ponzu sauce available for a classic mix (garlic, green onions, but keep in mind no radish), and free green tea ice cream to close out the meal. Hot sake and other drink selections for your pleasure. Comfortable ambiance, clean, plenty of seating space, and the most important part that made us decide to try this spot - YOU GET YOUR OWN PRIVATE HOT POT for your cooking pleasures! Not into sharing Hot pots and broths that other shabus have going on near and around Sacramento. This spot honors privacy and convenience of having your own broth to enjoy! Good idea to call ahead of time to reserve for parties greater than 5, but not necessary. Service was FAST! Staff was attentive, on point, friendly, and this is a great restaurant for gatherings with friends and families. Wonderful shabu spot, highly recommended, and now this is our go to for all our shabu craving needs! Shabu is life and we'll be coming here for years to come. Kudos Tao's owner and staff - incredible business and grateful to have you close by!

Vegetarians bases are mushroom and tomato as confirmed with owner

Vegetarian review! After having had their course B meal for the last few years with my parents, I finally tried it with my vegetarian wife and kids. While it is not advertised this way, It is a very good deal at kids pricing of $19.59 per person for vegetarian eaters. I do wish they would half that for my 6 year old son since he is vegetarian as well and $20 for a vegetarian kid is a bit much. However, my 3 year old gets to eat here for free till she turns 5 so it's a wash for now, haha! We LOVE the food/ingredients here for their vegetarian hot pot! It's very healthy to have so much vegetables mushrooms prepared fresh! Yes it is possible for us to buy these ingredients and do hotpot ourselves, but they are already prepared. The sauces are unique and a large selection to choose from to make your meal a completely different tasting experience every time! The fried appetizers AND a scoop of green tea ice cream are also included. Service is still great as ever, and their prices have not changed since inflation has gone up so much in the last 2 years! So if you are vegetarian and wrote off Tao's hot pot, think again! Remember to mention you are vegetarian to the servers and they will help you with vegetarian selections. In case the language barrier is there here are the strictly vegetarian selections. Soup bases: mushroom and tomato (they wouldn't charge you for the other bases if you are not strictly vegetarian, I've had miso) Appetizers: sesame balls, fries, croquette (if you want to try potsticker and takoyaki, you probably can but ask first) Sides: starting from Napa cabbage down are all vegetarian! ( I've had the chance to try 1-2 none vegetarian sides like quail egg and shrimp balls and they were fine with it) Pro tip: if you are not fully vegetarian, read the (section) above! Happy holidays and see you fellow vegetarians at Tao's!

    Hotpot @ Table

First time here (and won't be the last!) I've only had hotpot @ our friends' house before as his wife is Chinese, and they tend to do the same thing each time. So, I was VERY impressed with the variety, quality and many choices at Tao's. We chose Mushroom Broth and Tonkatsu Broth, selecting Brisket, Angus, Chicken, and Wagu, plus squash, cabbage, spinach, enoki white mushrooms, and tiny green chiles. Asahi was our 'friend' when the spicy flavors took over! LOVED IT. The ambience is perfect and our table's hotpot warmers were easy to control. Best relaxed dining experience. Highly recommend.

We went with our child and found this place very family friendly. Kids under five eat for free, and we believe children between five and ten may be offered a discounted price, though we do not remember the exact details since our child is just over two years old. It is a great option for family gatherings. Our child really enjoyed the experience of putting meat and vegetables into the hotpot, which made the meal fun and interactive. The food quality was excellent, and we felt very comfortable letting our child eat here. Everything tasted great and the restaurant was clean and well maintained. Overall, it is a wonderful spot for families looking for good quality hotpot with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

I was pretty shocked to see a place in this area had hotpot AND the high reviews. We ended up coming here as a group after one of our tennis matches, and the place was popping! We had a group of 10 people. Waited about 30min to be seated. WOW. This place is a hidden gem. Well, not so hidden if its super busy haha. +1 Soup base was fireeee. Esp the mala one. Tasted super authentic! +1 Meats were fantastic. Shabu quality and really great marbling. What a steal! +1 Veggie options were plenty and very fresh! Overall, I was blown away by this place. I was SO stuffed leaving here, but I crave more just by thinking of it. I would love to come here again. PS: We got free ice cream at the end and it was SO good. Holy! We wanted more, but it was already last call...or else they would have given us more. Next time!

As a Frequent flyer, Tao's is simply one of the best spots in the area. Located in Folsom, we've gone here quite a bit in the last year or so. Everything is super good and we usually get sat instantly without any waiting. However, Winter months usually have more crowds. Table Set up: each person gets their own hot plate and utensils while other spots you share a big soup pot. This individualized hot pot is the way to go! I usually do a mix of Spicy Miso & Beef broths. (**Note that combination of two soups takes about 5 extra mins to come to the table; if your server says they can't do that request to please check with a more senior server**) Apps: chicken wings are amazing, last time not as good as before; yet we always get at least one round of them. Potstickers are delicious AF too. I typically get one additional round of them mid way thru the meal. Meats/sides/sauces: Beef brisket & Kobe; Pork jowl; 3 diff meatballs (shrimp, cilantro beef, pepper beef); Ramen Noodles, crab, and whatever else ya into. I really dig their garlic sesame oil sauce which I add to my main soup and the boiling pot. Makes a great dip for the potstickers too. I've had prob close to 10 visits give or take and we enjoy it every time. They finish off the meal with a green tea ice cream that hits the spot. Service is quick and frequent. You don't get to take any of it home since it's all you can eat! Make sure to bring that appetite. 5/5

First time visiting here. Walked in to a half filled location with conversations and people enjoying their meals. We were seated about the minutes later, views the menu and chose to go with the meal choice B. They have three options to choose from. Which all include an appetizer choice, up to 3 meat choices or seafood and then you can pick two sides at a time. They do not allow to go meals from these dine in options and they say a 90 eating time frame. Once we got through our ordering our meal choices were brought out fairly quickly. And the place continued to get customers arriving to dine in. Every thing we chose was good in quality, I want to say the meal selection we picked per person was about $38. As an all you can eat option. Over all a cool place to try out, nothing to fancy in decor, windows do fog up with all of the hotpot's steaming though lol.

The inside ambiance is also a little "Bladerunner 2049" so everything feels is bathed in neon and it's all a little overstimulating for my taste - great for laser tag, less so for lunch. As a small anecdote, one of the waitresses, who provided excellent and lovely service, dropped a bowl of rice while serving another table. The bowl landed hard on its side and none of the rice fell out or spilled. This was due to the rice being gummy, and overcooked and was the same for our sides of hot rice and the sushi rice for the sushi bar. Did we get rice? Yes! As much as we could eat. But the rice was not of the best quality. The sushi was alright. All you can eat! But with a quality to match that. The KBBQ was ok but they lacked a lot of the traditional sauces that come with it. It was more centered around Chinese hot pot sauce bar as opposed to KBBQ sauce flavors. Quality of the meat was the best of the three in my opinion. But still not amazing. The Hot Pot was nice, but again, you get the quality you pay for. There was an extensive ingredient selection available. I would recommend this place for a group of college buddies looking to maximize their money's worth. But I would not recommend for the flavor or quality.

The parking situation at this restaurant was pretty nice-they share a big lot with many businesses,so parking was ample. We walked in towards the end of the night, like around 830pm,only a few people in there, but it was late. They have a pretty decent-sized restaurant with lots of tables,so I would feel comfortable going there with limited wait time most days. We sat down and they have a pretty decent sized menu with lots of options, but I was pretty sure I knew what we wanted. We went with Soft Tofu Soup($19.99). We also went with two orders of Dolsot Bibimbap ($20.99) Lastly we went with an order of their YangYum Chicken Wings($25.99) They provided us with complimentary Banchan as well-almost everything they provided was standard and they were yummy-I'd say the three of us ate about 90% of it-so good. The food came out pretty fast starting with the chicken wings. Overall the wings were pretty tasty and juicy but just a tad sweet for my taste. I tend to prefer my food on the spicier side. The soup came out next and it was sizzling. I really enjoyed the awesome flavor of the broth, very tasty and would order this again without hesitation. Now my son and I both got the Bibimbap and we both came to the same conclusions. -Aesthetic-perfect-almost didn't want to eat it. -Temperature-so hot with crunchy vegetables -loving it -Ingredients-perfect mixture of rice, meat, vegetables and egg -Taste-every bite was better than the last one and had me looking forward to the next bite. Easily my favorite Bibimbap I've had so far. Overall I would say I had a wonderful visit with my son and daughter and was so very happy that my daughter visiting me from Texas got me to add another great restaurant to my Sacramento resume. Just in case anyone is on the fence-traditional Korean cuisine is absolutely spectacular and I recommend that everyone should try it-it's so much more diverse than just Korean BBQ.
