We moved to Rancho Cordova last year and have been wanting to try this Korean restaurant. It was hopping today with K-Pop music in the background and most of the tables being taken. Great selection of food, and it was so tasty. I had the chicken katsu with nigiri sushi. We also had the Bibimbap which was enough for 2-3 meals. Teriyaki chicken was accompanied by Cole slaw style salad and rice. We will definitely be back to try other food items.

Lovely little hole in the wall Korean food spot in Rancho. They sell both street style food and full on meals. The prices are very fair and the service is great too. Highly recommend them. They do close at 2:30 for a break before dinner according to their schedule so keep that in mind. Everything here I have had is really good. My favorite was the katsu. Very crisp and thin!

What a surprise place for some Gimbap. This place is located in a plaza with a few other spots. It's kind of in the corner and is like a hole in the wall type of spot. As soon as I entered, I was greeted and was shown the menu. I ordered a few Gimbaps. I got the Veggie Gimbap and Bulgogi Gimbap. The flavor of the Bulgogi was very good. But the star for me was actually their Veggie Gimbap! I love beef, but the veggie Gimbap was seasoned perfectly and the texture was just right. Other places have overcooked, soggy veggies. This place had one of the best Vegetable Gimbaps I've had. I highly recommend the Veggi Gimbap, even if you're not vegetarian. When in the area, stop by Seoul 1979 and try their Gimbap. I'm sure the rest of their food is great as well, which I will definitely try out next time around!

This place was good to try but I wouldn't come all the way out here again just to have this. I got a set menu with kimbap and ramen, kimbap was delicious but the ramen is literally just packaged ramen. My friends got the cupbap and it was yummy but nothing super special. We also got the seotok seotok, rice cake and sausage skewer, that was pretty tasty! Overall not bad but again nothing special.

Hands down the best Korean spot around town . They have super affordable prices & the food taste amazing. Curry Chicken Katsu $14.99: This is our go to ! Deep fried chicken, side salad, creamy soy sauce flavor & curry on the side . Comes with white rice . Love the fried chicken with the sauce & the curry . It goes perfectly well together and everything in the dish compliments each other nicely . A MUST 5/5 Bulgogi Gimbap $7.95:This dish stars bulgogi tucked into a sushi wrap & has sweet and salty soy sauce flavor. This was my first time trying it & really enjoyed the flavor . It's basically like a sushi roll with bulgogi . Get the garlic creamy sauce for dipping 5/5 Chicken gangejong $9.95 : Deep fried spicy and crispy chicken cutlets in a spicy and sweet sauce . Reminded me of bon chon .Loved the flavor and went well with the bulgogi gimbap. Overall , I love the quality of the food and impressed with the pricing . Definitely a hidden gem . A go to spot if you're looking for some yummy korean food .

We came here for a late lunch/early dinner and we were pleased with the service and quality of the food. We ordered: 1. Duo Set $12.95 (consisted of a Seoul Gimbap which is like a sushi roll but larger (see my video) and a ramen soup). 2. Tonkatsu Curry $14.99 Everything was tasty and we wish we would've known about the large bowl with the beef which I think was called Bibimbap. We will also try the Bulgogi next time. The ambiance of the place appeared to be clean and bright. There were a lot of people by the time we settled to eat; most of the tables were occupied. The only caveat I would suggest is to ask about the spice level. The ramen I ordered was on the extremely spicy side. I had to pour some water to dilute the spice. Overall, we would return and try some other items.

If you've been Seoul searching, this is your place. Their kimchi stew was tangy with the right amount of spice. I got a spicy pork kimbab as well. It was a bit too sweet for me, but the kimchichigae - stole the show. There are a lot of other street food items I would like to come back and try. The customer service was amazing. The workers were so kind. I would highly recommend getting a bite here.

My husband and I came here for dinner on a weeknight. We ordered the cold noodles and the Seoul set meal which included the kimbap, katsu curry, and a drink. The food is very fresh, especially the kimbap is definitely homemade and tastes much fresher than store bought ones. Cold noodles were so delicious, the texture of the noodles was chewy and I really appreciate how fresh the pickled radish and octopus are. The katsu was crispy and well-seasoned. Everything was delicious and fresh for a reasonable price. Our meal was about $50 in total, including the hotteok for dessert. Don't skip on their hotteok, fresh, delicious, and not too sweet!

A minimalist restaurant that serves both Korean and Japanese food = yes for me. As soon as I entered, I had a feeling the food would taste somewhat like homecooked food...fortunately, I was right. I came in with a group of 6, and we got all of our food under 15 minutes, which was solid. What I ordered: Chicken Katsu Curry Kimchi Jjigae (pork) The chicken katsu was lightly breaded and came with a small portion of curry. The breaded chicken was golden brown, crispy, and still juicy. I wish the curry portion was a little bigger, but I can't complain much since it was both light and delicious. The kimchi jjigae was super hot (temp wise) and the spice level was enough to make me get some sips of water in between bites. I really enjoyed the bits of pork they had in there; I kept looking for more. It was a little bit warm inside, but overall, the restaurant is clean, quick, and tasty. I thought this restaurant was really fairly priced, especially for how delicious the food was. I'll be back again.

Seoul1979 is another spot I wish we had discovered sooner! This Korean restaurant opened in our community in spring 2024, and as someone coming from LA who's always on the hunt for great Korean/Asian food, I'm so glad we found it. The meals are delicious and affordable. You have to try the Pork Tonkatsu--the sauce is on point, side salad is yum, and the curry side that comes with it is just as good. The Bulgogi Gimbap was tasty too, though I would have loved a dipping sauce on the side. The Korean ramen broth was packed with flavor, and I love how it's served in the pot, such a cute touch. My husband ordered the Korean Corndog, and I normally wouldn't go for that, but it was surprisingly very tasty as well! Service is friendly and efficient, parking was easy, and the dining area is comfortable. The only thing I'd change is the visibility--it's a little hidden, and I wish they had a bigger sign so more people could spot it from the street. I've already been telling my local friends about Seoul1979 and will definitely be back soon. A good quick weekday lunch or dinner spot. Worth supporting!

Seoul good! This small, locally owned Korean spot delivers on Korean street food. Everything is seasoned really well and packed with bold, savory flavor. The chicken katsu was especially good: perfectly breaded with a satisfying crunch, juicy and tender inside, and full of umami flavor. The only small critique would be serving the sauce on the side to help keep that crispy coating intact. Bonus points for also offering fresh sushi, which was a pleasant surprise and rounded out the menu nicely. If you're craving flavorful, well-seasoned Korean street food, this place is definitely worth checking out. Other: -$$ -credit/tap pay -plenty of parking -bathroom inside -good for smaller groups -friendly service -locally owned**

Went back to Seoul 1979 again for dinner because we didn't want to cook tonight and it did not disappoint. This time we tried takeout instead of dining in, but the food was just as good, prepped well, and ready before I even walked in the door. Will definitely continue recommending this place if you're craving some Korean cuisine local to the greater Rancho area. I had the bulgogi gimbap and a Philly roll. I love how they prepare the gimbap, I can taste a little of each item packed into them- bulgogi, egg, veggies, and of course rice with the seaweed shell. The sushi was great as well, definitely on par or better than any sushi specific restaurant.

This place used to be a great little Hawaiian restaurant, so I swung by to see what it had taken its place. I decided to come in for lunch. Nothing fancy, just tables with some nice artwork on the wall. I decided to start with the Seoul 1979 gimbap, which is kind of like a "Korean sushi." it was very good. All of the ingredients played very well together, I liked the pickled veg in it, and the egg was just the right amount. It did overpower anything else. From there, I went to my usual Korean standby, the beef Bibimbap. Again, it was very good. The one thing I didn't care for, was that the egg was hard. No yolk whatsoever, and that's one thing that I really love, is to have some of that yolk drip down into my food. There was none of that. Saying that, it was still very good. All of the ingredients played very well with each other, the veggies were done just right, the beef was not tough and it had a wonderful marinated flavor. It came with a gochujang sauce on the side, I know there are different levels of heat on this sauce, and I asked her if it was spicy, and she said it was mild. . It had just a tiny bit of a spice, just enough that I knew it was there, and it added a very good flavor to the dish. The meal also came with a small bowl of miso soup, which was very good as well. It had a deep flavor to it. The meal also came with a small side of kimchi but it was a little bit too strong for me. Prices were reasonable, considering half of my meal came home with me. I would love to come back and try more things. Thank you.

Customer Service: 0/10 It was our first time here, and the staff did not greet us when we walked in. We ordered our food from a kiosk, and the young Asian lady working didn't even inform us that there was self-serve water or where to find to-go boxes; we had to figure it out ourselves and go ask. Worse, she completely ignored my daughter when she tried to ask a question, literally trying to make herself look busy even though she knew my daughter was speaking to her. During our meal, we noticed that while she completely ignored us, she actively greeted and thanked the other customers who came in after us. When we left, she was standing right at the cash register and completely ignored us again. It is incredibly disappointing to see an employee be so selective about who they want to greet and provide decent customer service to. Furthermore, whether she is part of the family that owns the place or not, her attire was entirely inappropriate for a work environment--she was wearing black-and-white checkered pajama pants with an oversized t-shirt. Professionalism and basic courtesy seem entirely missing here. Please do better. Food Review: * Cucumber Salad: Had no flavor. It was basically just sliced cucumber tossed with some sesame oil. I love cucumber salad, so this was a major disappointment. Rate: 0/10 * Chili Wonton: Super plain with literally no flavor. I love chili wontons, and these were completely tasteless. Imagine eating wontons with absolutely no seasoning. Rate: 0/10 * Chow Mein: This was okay--probably the best dish out of everything we ordered. While the bun was soft, the filling fell short. Rate: 2/10 * Shrimp & Pork Shaomai: Just okay. We've had much better elsewhere. The outside wraps were dried out and chewy. I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

Not greasy or salty, just flavorful! Lots of fresh veggies and the noodle to meat/veg ratio was on the mark in my book! I got the chicken and prawn hibachi! So good!! It had a little too much sauce for me (even after asking for very light sauce), but that didn't stop me from enjoying it immensely! We had plenty left for lunch today and the best part - no congealed oil on either dish! I felt like it was a little pricey for three dishes ($57), but the portions were huge, so it covered two meals. We would definitely eat there again.

The menu is upscale with burgers starting in the $15 range, so you get the idea. They offer a breakfast buffet that does not come with the room and it's on the upscale side with nicer items than you'd find at some included buffet with an automated pancake machine and cereal and milk on offer. The buffet has nice breakfast meats eggs, potatoes and other hot items served out of heated large skillets on a buffet. The cost is $18.95 plus tax and a little tip, you're looking at a little over $20.00 for breakfast, very nice if you have an expense account! Dinner will run you about $20 plus drinks and extras. I thought the breakfast buffet was good and I suppose part of the price you pay is for the convenience of not having to leave the hotel and go searching around town for something, cause really there's not much in the way of breakfast places around here that are close by.

Menu looked promising and the look of the restaurant looked great online so my wife and I decided to go there for dinner. We got there and stood by the entrance where the podium is. We stood there for around 10 minutes while wait staff walked past us and didn't say anything. We did see a few people seated but they were loud and a bit drunk. After 10 minutes we gave up and walked out. I'm sure the front desk personnel saw us standing there and they didn't summon a host/hostess or didn't say anything to us as we walked out. With customer service like that, I doubt the restaurant will be able to succeed unless you make a change pretty quickly.
