The chicken katsu is still one of the best I've had--light, crispy, and perfectly crunchy on the outside, with juicy, tender chicken inside. Every visit has been consistently delicious, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I also tried the spicy pork again. It's a bit different from the Korean spicy pork I'm used to. Instead of the pork being marinated so the flavor is deeply infused, it seems to be grilled first and then coated with the sauce. While it's not the traditional style I expected, it's still flavorful and worth trying if you're open to a different take on the dish. In addition the chicken gangjeong dish that requires it to be "deep fried chicken" needs additional time to get crunchy like you would expect. I think the sauce may have made the crunch disappear. Great find through Yelp in between work meetings. Small, casual restaurant that is a little tricky to find. You order at the counter for take-out or dining in. I saw a picture of the chicken katsu curry in Yelp and knew I had to try it. The staff person who helped me was incredibly sweet. The food was great. It was flavorful and priced well for the portion of food you received. The katsu had a great crunch but I wished that the chicken was meatier. I enjoyed the side of curry but not the cabbage salad. My experience here was amazing. We came as a group of 6 on a Wednesday for lunch when they opened at 11am. Front lady was very friendly amd made sure we were doing good. We got seated right away with menus and was directed to order at cashier once ready. The food came out within 10 minutes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and praised how tasty it was. I ordered the Bulgogi Cupbap, which came with a side of kimchi and miso soup if you dine in. It was so yummy and just the right portion for me. We moved to Rancho Cordova last year and have been wanting to try this Korean restaurant. It was hopping today with K-Pop music in the background and most of the tables being taken. Great selection of food, and it was so tasty. I had the chicken katsu with nigiri sushi. We also had the Bibimbap which was enough for 2-3 meals. Worst Korean food ever. I ordered chikenkatsu, dakganjeong(fried chicken), kimbab, tteokbboiki(rice cake), paid $90 includes tip, but nothing was above minimum standard of Korean tastes. Maybe they fried Chickenkatsu after they sliced, it had too much oily taste. Fried chicken was too sour, as a Korean I never tasted that kind of sauce. tteobboki was no flavor except just red pepper and MSG. At least the owner should search YouTube recipe. Spent the weekend at Gold River for a tennis match. Came here for a quick bite before heading home. Hubs found this hidden on Yelp. Arrived soon after they opened with one group there. Lovely little hole in the wall Korean food spot in Rancho. They sell both street style food and full on meals. The prices are very fair and the service is great too. Highly recommend them. What a surprise place for some Gimbap. This place is located in a plaza with a few other spots. It's kind of in the corner and is like a hole in the wall type of spot. As soon as I entered, I was greeted and was shown the menu. I ordered a few Gimbaps. I got the Veggie Gimbap and Bulgogi Gimbap. The flavor of the Bulgogi was very good. But the star for me was actually their Veggie Gimbap! I love beef, but the veggie Gimbap was seasoned perfectly and the texture was just right. Other places have overcooked, soggy veggies. This place had one of the best Vegetable Gimbaps I've had. I highly recommend the Veggi Gimbap, even if you're not vegetarian. When in the area, stop by Seoul 1979 and try their Gimbap. We came here for a late lunch/early dinner and we were pleased with the service and quality of the food. We ordered: 1. Duo Set $12.95 (consisted of a Seoul Gimbap which is like a sushi roll but larger (see my video) and a ramen soup). 2. Tonkatsu Curry $14.99 Everything was tasty and we wish we would've known about the large bowl with the beef which I think was called Bibimbap. We will also try the Bulgogi next time. The ambiance of the place appeared to be clean and bright. There were a lot of people by the time we settled to eat; most of the tables were occupied. The only caveat I would suggest is to ask about the spice level. The ramen I ordered was on the extremely spicy side. I had to pour some water to dilute the spice. A minimalist restaurant that serves both Korean and Japanese food = yes for me. As soon as I entered, I had a feeling the food would taste somewhat like homecooked food...fortunately, I was right. I came in with a group of 6, and we got all of our food under 15 minutes, which was solid. What I ordered: Chicken Katsu Curry Kimchi Jjigae (pork) The chicken katsu was lightly breaded and came with a small portion of curry. The breaded chicken was golden brown, crispy, and still juicy. I wish the curry portion was a little bigger, but I can't complain much since it was both light and delicious. The kimchi jjigae was super hot (temp wise) and the spice level was enough to make me get some sips of water in between bites. I really enjoyed the bits of pork they had in there; I kept looking for more. It was a little bit warm inside, but overall, the restaurant is clean, quick, and tasty. Seoul1979 is another spot I wish we had discovered sooner! This Korean restaurant opened in our community in spring 2024, and as someone coming from LA who's always on the hunt for great Korean/Asian food, I'm so glad we found it. The meals are delicious and affordable. You have to try the Pork Tonkatsu--the sauce is on point, side salad is yum, and the curry side that comes with it is just as good. The Bulgogi Gimbap was tasty too, though I would have loved a dipping sauce on the side. The Korean ramen broth was packed with flavor, and I love how it's served in the pot, such a cute touch. My husband ordered the Korean Corndog, and I normally wouldn't go for that, but it was surprisingly very tasty as well! Service is friendly and efficient, parking was easy, and the dining area is comfortable. The only thing I'd change is the visibility--it's a little hidden, and I wish they had a bigger sign so more people could spot it from the street. I've already been telling my local friends about Seoul1979 and will definitely be back soon. A good quick weekday lunch or dinner spot. Worth supporting! read more

Dinner by happenstance, customer by choice! This spot comes up highly rated when you search for 'dinner' near the new Picklr location. We decided to give it a GO! It's a pretty simple restaurant, nestled almost in the corner of a shopping center/area. The street entrance is a little tricky, so don't miss the turn! When you walk in they greet you and ask you to find a table. However, you order at the counter and then bring out the food. They have a fridge of drink options, fountain sodas, and iced water at a little station. Their menu is predominately Korean, especially K-street food, and sushi! I opted, as I do for my first time at many Korean restaurants, for the Bibimbap, add extra protein. I went for the beef/bulgogi option. It was a very good portion, which I was not expecting. My only 'gripe' was that the egg was more fried than I preferred. I wish it was more over easy with a runny yolk. Nothing to be upset about, but just a preference thing. This also came with miso soup and kimchi gor, for dine in only. Overall, it is generally clean and a simple restaurant. The vibrant yellow walls brighten up the space and I enjoy their logo (or mascot). The staff, which I think there was one and a chef, was really kind and attentive to our table. This place used to be a great little Hawaiian restaurant, so I swung by to see what it had taken its place. I decided to come in for lunch. Nothing fancy, just tables with some nice artwork on the wall. I decided to start with the Seoul 1979 gimbap, which is kind of like a "Korean sushi." it was very good. All of the ingredients played very well together, I liked the pickled veg in it, and the egg was just the right amount. It did overpower anything else. From there, I went to my usual Korean standby, the beef Bibimbap. Again, it was very good. The one thing I didn't care for, was that the egg was hard. No yolk whatsoever, and that's one thing that I really love, is to have some of that yolk drip down into my food. There was none of that. Saying that, it was still very good. All of the ingredients played very well with each other, the veggies were done just right, the beef was not tough and it had a wonderful marinated flavor. It came with a gochujang sauce on the side, I know there are different levels of heat on this sauce, and I asked her if it was spicy, and she said it was mild. . It had just a tiny bit of a spice, just enough that I knew it was there, and it added a very good flavor to the dish. The meal also came with a small bowl of miso soup, which was very good as well. It had a deep flavor to it. The meal also came with a small side of kimchi but it was a little bit too strong for me. Prices were reasonable, considering half of my meal came home with me. This is by far the best kimchi fried rice and fire pork gimbap I've ever had! I ordered through DoorDash for pick-up since my husband was unwell, and I needed a little time out of the house. Seoul 1979 was only 7-10 minutes away, and I was craving something that felt like a homemade meal rather than fast food. They absolutely delivered!
