Was in the mood for sushi and to my surprise I had plenty of choices to choose from that were close to the hotel. A couple even walking distance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sora is located in a plaza with plenty of food options. I'd imagine this area can get busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered: Stuffed jalapeños Phoenix Nova Full house Baked salmon Stuffed jalapeños were just okay. When it said stuffed, I thought it was going to be a whole jalapeño. Instead it was a halved jalapeño. Probably would order this again. Nova, full house, and baked salmon came on a circular wooden board. Loved the display. Phoenix was on fire and continued for almost 2 minutes. Loved the presentation of it all. All the rolls tasted great and fresh. Service was wonderful and attentive. I had to split the tab for a work expense report and had no problem doing so.

The service is great, but the food is just subpar. I've been a couple times now when I'm in the area and I may still visit in the future, but I never leave feeling like I had amazing sushi. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a peaceful environment and many options on their menu though.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband tried the chicken katsu (pictured) and he's not sure he'd get it again himself. Again, simply because the food is just okay and nothing that makes you want to go back for more. I will say I enjoyed their miso most of all, but it's very very salty (so if that's not your thing.. don't get it).

Love Sora Sushi! The staff were so kind and welcoming, our server made us cute drinks and helped us order a sushi roll we couldn't name. Great food and great service!

A superb sushi restaurant located in a small strip mall. Their sushi rolls are definitely some of the best, freshest, unique, and most affordable I've had in the area with plenty of toppings and filling inside each one. While they have classics like cherry blossom or dragon, we went for some special ones. We tried the Nova, Polar Express, and Spicy Paula and liked them in that order. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and during the Olympic season, they have TVs showing the games. There are plenty of tables and their dishware is also really unique!

Loved this restaurant on my visit to Sacramento Miso soup, sushi and short ribs were all amazing and made fresh Highly recommend supporting this family run restaurant! Service was amazing too!

    Special treat

Today was my first time that I tried the food along with some of my friends from work at Sora Sushi in Rancho Cordova. All I have to say in 3 words is GREAT food, GREAT service, and GREAT ownership hospitality!! We were immediately greeted by the owner Sun who was the friendliest person you would ever meet and immediately became excited to hear that we were there celebrate a birthday and that it was the first time for some of us. The variety of sushi rolls that we ordered were packed with flavor as we enjoyed every bite. At the end of our meal, we were surprised with a special dessert made with fresh orange slices and whip cream as well as a slice of birthday cheesecake and chocolate moon pie as we sang to the birthday girl. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Between the friendly staff, nicely decorated ambiance and the amazing food, this was a fantastic experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nice meeting you Sun and thank you Sora Sushi. I will definitely be back!! Kevin

    Three rolls here. All excellent!

This place is excellent! Went here for lunch today. Fast service, good portion sizes. Highly recommend!

Miso soup was good. Shrimp tempura and calamari tasted like old oil -yuck! It's the first time I've ever left tempura anything on my plate. The Kuma roll and Vegetable Tempura rolls were good. The Eileen Supreme roll was overly-sauced to the max and totally disappointing, half was left not eaten. The absolute worst was the Zig Zag hand roll which had brown colored guacamole and virtually no fried crab. On the whole, the food was underwhelming. The service was a bit overly attentive to the point it felt intrusive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Sunday evening and the place was mostly empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was a step up from your typical strip mall vibe and it was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No second chance here. For the price, multiple sushi spots are far better. Oh, and the small hot house saki was fair at $6 so no complaint there.

Ask the Community - Sora Sushi

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Do they allow outdoor seating during covid?

Yes, they do have outdoor seating at the patio. But not a very big area. No reservations too!

    Do you offer AYCE sushi?

No they do not. They serve much higher quality sushi than an ayce place. Their pricing is reasonable.

Is there a happy hour menu someone can post?

Hi! I can't attach a picture here, unfortunately. But I updated my review to show the Happy Hour Menu!! Hope it helps! (The Garlic Edamame, Gyoza, and Cherry Blossom are AMAZING)

This place used to be Nemo Sushi, does it have the same owner?

Yes, this place used to be Nemo Sushi. It's a new owner that runs the restaurant with his family.

Finally a nice sushi place a hop and skip away from my neighborhood!!!…read more We've come here plenty of times and each time has been great. The fish is extremely fresh and every selection is really good! My kiddos love their rolls and Bento boxes, and I love their pepperfin, albacore on fire, large sashimi mix, and their agadashi tofu! We come here pretty often being it's so close to home! We enjoy the service, the ambiance, and everything in between!

Come noon, and checking my ETA to Los Angeles already pushed back to 21:00 PM, I decided to drive my rig in town to get something to eat before making that 10 hour drive down south. And I settled for Wabune Sushi in the Raleys Grocery Store plaza. So onto the review: I ordered a ton of food, and even wrote everything down on paper for the newbie server. Hamachi Kama: felt it wasnt Krispy or charred enough. 3.5/5 Volcano Mushrooms: wasn't what I was expecting, it was just a bunch of shrooms, battered up with some cream cheese 2.5/5 **would skip ordering this Douglas Roll: wasn't anything worth remembering, as in typing this an hour 1/2 later, I cannot recall what was in the Douglas Roll besides red sauce and spicy tuna, shrimp tempura....so it must have been a mediocre roll 3/5 Chirashi Bowl: was ok, sashimi was fresh, but nothing along the levels of Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo Los Angeles 4/5 Uni: I want to allege after finishing both Uni Nigiri that this wasn't the freshest, because of the complex after taste, it was somewhat bitter with a fishy aftertaste and the coloring was a bit dark. If you ever go to a Mitsuwas or Marukai or Nijiya and look for that shining glistening gold packaged air-imprted Uni...yeah. You'll know what I mean. Totally different. 3 2.5/5 Amaebi: Corral Sweet Shrimp Raw Nigiri: probably the only shining star or the 4/5 *Although I suggest next time removing the heads of the shrimp and steeping them with Miso soup for an additional layer of presentation, it would give the Miso soup more Umami And what else am I missing.....yes the Oysters at Market Price ($16.00) Ok aside from the fact the restaurant operators couldn't really name where the oysters were from...I'm assuming it's frozen oysters...I wanted to give this starter a higher score, but Everytime I slurp, I get fragments of the Oyster shells in my mouth, and honestly, I find the oysters that you can get at Wholefoods market Alot of times better quality and taste (being better quality oysters are sweeter and have less of that Seafood aftertaste. So unfortunately I have to give this order a 2.5/5 even though I finished it because the ponzu and chilli sauces they used really masked the natural tastes of the oyster. Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream: Skip. This is just supermarket mochi ice cream, you can pick up better at Sprouts or Wholefoods. 3/5

Gamsahamnida! Back…read moreagain, and the food and service continue to be great! The chicken katsu is still one of the best I've had--light, crispy, and perfectly crunchy on the outside, with juicy, tender chicken inside. Every visit has been consistently delicious, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I also tried the spicy pork again. It's a bit different from the Korean spicy pork I'm used to. Instead of the pork being marinated so the flavor is deeply infused, it seems to be grilled first and then coated with the sauce. While it's not the traditional style I expected, it's still flavorful and worth trying if you're open to a different take on the dish. In addition the chicken gangjeong dish that requires it to be "deep fried chicken" needs additional time to get crunchy like you would expect. I think the sauce may have made the crunch disappear. The consistency in both the food and the service is what keeps bringing me back. I'm looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu. Other: -plenty of parking -bathroom inside -on hot days it's a little warm in the restuaruant *local family business*

Crispy, golden breading with a juicy pork cutlet underneath, smothered in a rich, savory Japanese-style curry that was comforting without being too heavy. Served with rice and fresh cabbage slaw, it made for a complete, satisfying meal. The bibimbap was fresh and well balanced, with plenty of vegetables, tender beef, and a perfectly fried egg that tied everything together. Every bite had a great mix of textures and flavor. The vibe is casual and welcoming. This is the kind of neighborhood spot you'll want to come back to whenever you're craving Korean comfort food. Rex Tip: Mix the bibimbap thoroughly before your first bite. Every ingredient is meant to come together, and that's when the flavors really shine. 5 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex

The first time I ordered, I got a tempura udon, so it was an udon soup that should have came with mixed tempura. The box that should have been my tempura was SOMEONE'S LEFTOVERS. Half eaten rice and the lettuce that would usually be served under the meat. I called the store and the person who packed my order so happened to answer and apologized profusely explaining that some customers had set down their boxes where he was packing the food and must have grabbed the wrong box by mistake. Grubhub refunded that item for me. I decided to order from them again today because last time I also got sushi and I had to admit...the sushi I had is the best I've had in Rancho Cordova! So I wanted to try other rolls, so this time I got the Express Lane Roll and then the Northern Light Fish Wrap. The way the fish wrap was described, I was under the impression there was NO RICE. As the name suggests, the wrap is fish instead of rice, right? So consider my surprise when I open my box and I see TWO sushi rolls. I was so confused. One matched the description of the Express Lane Roll, but I had no idea what the other roll was. The inside had crab mix, salmon, and tuna like the fish wrap was supposed to have, but outside the roll was topped with jalapeno slices, unagi, and maybe more tuna? It's supposed to be topped with deep fried jalapeno and sweet potato. There wasn't mention of unagi being in this wrap. Again, I will give credit where credit is due...both rolls were very good! But I'm so frustrated that my only experiences with this restaurant were so bad. I did request a refund because I did not receive what I ordered; the fish wrap is more expensive than their fancier sushi rolls, but I also feel bad because I do want to support a restaurant I recognize has good food. Perhaps my experience would be better if I dine in, but my question right now is would it be worth spending more money at this place if my orders keep getting messed up?

They are located in a little strip mall off Folsom Blvd. right next to a laundry mat with a decent sized parking lot, with a little sign mentioning Mother's Day with pink balloons to commemorate the occasion. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated by a very sweet young lady named Violet who ended up also being our server. The inside was clean, with a wall of TVs that formed one large screen, lights on the walls, and they had pink heart balloons all throughout for the holiday. We had already picked the items we were interested in beforehand, and Violet let us immediately order. We got the Hamachi Kama, the Shrimp Daddy, The Northen Lights Wrap, 2 small bowls of miso soup, the BBQ Albacore, the House Wife Special Roll and the Philly Cheesesteak Roll. EVERYTHING tasted SUPER FRESH and incredibly delicious! We HIGHLY recommend the Shrimp Daddy and the Northern Lights Wrap, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of the items we selected. Violet was VERY professional, personable, and tentative and took great care of us. The other server, Gayane, was also very sweet and came over and gave my wife a miniature chocolate cake (made by a local bakery called Heavenly Pasteries) as a Mother's Day treat. Then at one point, Chef Maguro walked around and checked in with every customer and stopped at our table for a chat. Maguro was such an incredibly cool and talented guy. He told us he's been a sushi chef for about 28 years, and it shows. He's also responsible for all the delicious looking pictures on their website and in the restaurant. Not totally sure if Chef Maguro made ALL of our food, so we need to also shout out Chef Henry as well. This place is excellent! The food was super tasty, and the people working there really sold the experience. Thank you for being a wonderful server, Violet! Someone give this woman a raise! And thank you Chef Maguro for being a stand up, awesome guy! We will for sure be coming back again soon!!

The prices have definitely gone up in the 10ish years I've been coming, so it's probably more a rare treat than an occasional visit. Everything was super fresh and came out quick enough. The serving size for some of the dishes have diminished, for example, the Musolino Pasta. Considering the base is upon noodles, I'm surprised they're putting less into that rather than their fish. The sushi rolls and sashimi dishes we picked still had a lot of fish pieces and very very fresh. Just that one big ding on a non-sushi based dish and of course the prices. The type of tuna was ordinary and to me, not that enjoyable. I liked the salmon and yellowtail much more. The albacore was okay. The large 15 pc sashimi bowl came with miso soup and salad, which were good. It would be better with a small bowl of rice. I also tried the deluxe bento with Korean BBQ ribs. I enjoyed the ribs and felt their cooked food might be better than raw. The staff were really nice and polite. They brought out items we requested, and never rushed us. Great customer service. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating for big and small groups. They had some weekly specials and a happy hour menu (4-6pm), but nothing on the happy hour menu appealed to me.
