    Katsu Bento Lunch Special
    David Y.

Love it. Love it!! I'm actually eager to try their sashimi after my lunch visit today. This is going to be my new go-to Japanese spot for authentic Japanese food. Today, I ordered Chicken Katsu bento and just off the bat, they tenderize the meat very well before flour-ing and panko-ing, as well as deep frying it to perfection. The depth of the chicken meat is very thick and the moistness is absolutely perfect. Just like how Katsu tastes in Shibuya or Chiyoda. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch but the food quality is definitely pointing you back in that direction. The finished product is definitely legit Katsu for anyone who judges Katsu critically. All for under $20 bento lunch price. You can't beat that!!

I needed to find a sushi spot on the way to the movies and stumbled upon this hidden gem. I've driven past this place hundreds of times on Greenback and somehow never noticed it. From the outside, it's tucked into an older strip mall that doesn't look like much--but don't let that fool you. Inside, it's super clean, well-kept, and welcoming. The service was honestly one of the best parts of the visit. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and patient. They checked on us throughout the meal and made the whole experience feel really thoughtful and relaxed. The sushi itself was delicious and super creative. The menu includes photos of each roll, which makes it fun to order--and makes you want to come back to try the others you didn't get this time. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, fair prices, fantastic service, and really fresh, creative sushi. Definitely adding this to my regular go-to spots!

Stopped in on a Sunday for takeout. Service was friendly and polite. Place was clean and welcoming. Had a large flat screen TV on low volume showing a basketball game. No sushi bar that I saw. The tables were booths, a few chair style tables, and they are nice. I ordered sushi and sashimi combo. Was $38 after tax. 2 hand rolls (fried tempura and spicy tuna), 4 nigiri and 6 sashimi. It was not ruined by sauces, garnishes or seasonings. Had lots of natural colored ginger and a small amount of wasabe paste. Came with 2 Lee Kum Kee soy sauce packets (bleh) and a good pair of chopsticks. For the price, it needs to have soup and steamed rice. It did not fill me up. For $40 after a small tip, it better fill me up. Rice and miso soup are very inexpensive for restaurant production even with the extra packaging. I'll have to apply my dollar elsewhere. If only I were born with a house to inherit or a silver spoon in my mouth, or with better timing of life. If I owned my own home and money didn't matter, this would be a good spot.

Very fresh fish and delightful service. Will definitely came back. This is a new place for the neighborhood and has been very tastefully redecorated.

Took my wife & stepdaughter to Akira Sushi this evening for a late dinner. We were greeted with pleasantries upon walking in, and were seated in a clean booth & table. The service was prompt and on point, very nice & kind staff. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, Napa Sushi Roll, and the garlic chicken wings, while my stepdaughter ordered the Spider Roll & my wife the Chicken Katsu, plus 2 Miso Soups. The entire meal was exceptionally delicious, and we plan to return this coming weekend....

Don't let the location fool you Akira is totally remodeled and contemporary inside. Unfortunately you can't order alcohol atm as their liquor license hasn't been approved yet. Hopefully that gets resolved soon as a nice Japanese beer always compliments Japanese food. We tried several items all of which were presented beautifully. My pork katsu came with a mortar and pestle to grind sesame seeds to be combined with sauce for my katsu. Grinding the seeds released their aroma which made us hungrier. All of our food was fresh and tasty my pork was not dry and my GF's collar was still pink in the center perfectly cooked. This is a great spot to check out and less than a mile from Cinemark on Greenback.

Very fresh dishes that taste amazing. Sushi, and chicken were both prepared well and were delicious. Our server was kind and attentive, and our drinks were brought out quickly. Dining room was clean and comfortable with calming background music. First time here and am very impressed.

Had a great dining experience! Came in for dinner on a Saturday night and got seated right away. The interior is clean and the server was friendly and attentive. I must say the miso soup was very tasty along with the sunomono (cucumber salad). My family ordered a few appetizers such as the chicken kaarage and soft shelled crab, which were delicious. We also ordered a few rolls, yaki udon, chicken teriyaki, and a sake don. Everything tasted fresh and very flavorful. Would definitely recommend trying this place out! Can't wait to go back to try more things on their menu :)

Deep fried ca roll with delicious sauce

What a hidden gem! This is my new favorite spot for amazing milk tea, ca rolls, garlic noodles, and tempura! Didn't get many pictures because we ate it so fast. Cute resturant and friendly staff! Highly reccomend!

Amazing sushi! Fresh and so flavorful. Service was great! Nice ambiance. A must to try is the Tsunami and the Hotate Misomayo amazing ! The crispy tuna tacos are delicious! Last but not least the A's roll. Not to mention by the miso was also yummy!

    Okonomiyaki from appetizers

A Hidden Gem Worth Every Slurp and Bite If you're craving comfort food with bold, authentic Japanese flavors, Akira Sushi delivers in a big way. The Tonkotsu Ramen was a surprise hit for me. The broth is rich, creamy, and just the right amount of savory and you can tell it's been simmered for hours. The noodles had that perfect chew, and the pork melted in my mouth. The highly anticipated return of their Okonomiyaki with crispy edges, fluffy inside and topped with bonito flakes that danced like they were alive. It was both fun to watch and something I've been craving to eat since my friend from Japan last made it for us. So, I was happy to see it added to their menu since my last visit. Their spicy rolls are a tasty balance of rice and sauces. If you love spice, ask for extra jalapeños and I recommend the Heart Attack: cream cheese and salmon stuffed jalapeños and a lightly fried bite of perfection. The ambiance is cozy but open. The attentive staff are friendly, and you can tell the chefs here care about every dish. Definitely adding this to my regular rotation.

We are glad we did and we'll probably return due to the freshness of their food. The rainbow roll was just right not too fishy. The chicken teriyaki, miso and edamame also tasted fresh and delicious. Some other sushi places usually have a similar taste or the chicken doesn't taste as fresh but here, the food was of a different quality. The edamame too tasted different with what they called the "spicy edamame". It wasn't your typical chili flake spice; this one tasted like a bit of gochujang or miso paste. It was a nice change from what you normally get at other Japanese places. The inside is just on the smaller scale so if you have a large group, it may not work out especially if they are busy. They also do not have an outdoor area. So, I would say 1-4person group would work. We came on a Friday evening and there was only 1 table of 2 left for us. So, we will definitely be back. We recommend this spot if you are in the area and want to eat good quality Japanese food!

There's always something new and exciting to try, and many of the ingredients and fish are sourced directly from Japan. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what they're serving... I was amazed when they explained that one of the fish had been raised on a diet that included orange peels. The level of care and attention to detail is incredible. Everything I've had here has been exceptionally fresh and delicious. In fact, I keep bringing more friends and family with me each time because I want everyone to experience it. If you're planning to visit on a Friday, I highly recommend arriving around 5:30 PM if you want a good chance at getting a seat because it's small. This place is absolutely worth it.

I got the poke bowl, which was fresh and tasty, though I would've liked a little more fish and a little less rice. My mom and son ordered rice plates, and the chicken katsu was massive. Seriously, each cutlet looked like two chicken breasts in one. My wife tried the sushi burrito, which was packed, but it fell apart once she unwrapped it. Not a dealbreaker, just messy because it was loaded with food. The kids shared ramen and Spam musubi, and I ended up trying both. The ramen was surprisingly phenomenal, especially the roast pork, and the Spam musubi were huge. Overall, this is the kind of spot you go to when you're really hungry and want big portions, solid Hawaiian comfort food, and good service.
