I suggested to eat at Ninja Ramen down the street from Mitsuwa, but he suggested to try this place close to work. We tried one in Addison many years ago, but we never went back. It was ok, nothing great. We ordered cucumber salad, vegetarian Gyoza, spicy Tonkotsu and regular Tonkotsu ramen with extra soft boiled eggs and thing of rice. I love this place. They don't quite hold up to my old ramen place that closed, but they are still very good. We always eat in. The only issue I have is the hard benches there. The service is good. The atmosphere is good. And they are a star lower than my old place, because they aren't quite as good. They have lots of choices for even people who aren't into ramen. Great meals. This place has the most authentic ramen we've found in the north-burbs. The options were great and the menu had a lot of variety of authentic Japanese food. The nicest detail was the staff being attentive and even played lullabies over the speakers for our sleeping baby. Who does that!? (The place was mostly empty so this didn't bother the only other table there). It was great and we'll be coming back. The one star was lost due to the maintenance of the restaurant - the chairs were worn out with some holes on the leather and some of the tables could do some upgrade. The food wasn't as good as I was expecting. I ordered the Miso Garlic Ramen and made it spicy. The broth smelled good, but the pork looked overcooked. As I started eating, it was indeed overcooked along with the 20 cloves of garlic sliced up and put into the ramen. I was surprised on how many pieces of garlic were in there. I love garlic, but I'm not a fan of crispy-charred garlic. As you can see one of the pics I posted towards the end of the ramen, I began to use the spoon to slurp up the broth and was shocked on the amount of garlic still in the bowl. The description says "w/ garlic paste and garlic flake" not cloves of garlic. The service was wonderful, until about 15 mins after I ordered, the waitress came up and told me that she had yet to put my order in. I told her it was fine, as long as the food is good. I wasn't able to get a picture of this part of my experience, however, when I went to grab some chopsticks, every single pack was already opened. The waitress said that's how they all are, so I got up and went to grab some chopsticks at a different table and showed her what the chopsticks should look like, sealed in the package. The ambiance was a bit loud, but then again, I was sitting in the back corner. And as I was sitting back there, I started to notice the mess. I love this place! I ALWAYS order the Hakata Ramen because the soup is delicious. I lived in Japan for over a decade and this ramen reminds me of the various shops I've visited in Japan. This is our first ramen restaurant we tried in the Dallas area, and we experienced decent flavors out of it. My friend ordered the miso ramen and I did the tsukemen dip ramen. Mine was pork broth and the flavor was different than other pork broths that I have had. You'd have to try it to understand, which I highly recommend. I think next time I will do normal ramen instead of dip ramen to get the different variety. My friend loved her miso ramen. I was able to try some of her soup and it was delightfully creamy. I had never had miso ramen before, so I thought it would be saltier and stronger in flavor for the miso, but it was creamy and lighter than I thought it would be.
