Came back twice after new ownership, first time a bit ago they were quite busy, but most recently i went last sunday it was empty. Overall menu stayed the same from my knowledge. Prices rose a couple dollars since wayyy before but expected, still decently priced, not cheap. The food came out fairly quick as it should since they werent busy. At first glance the portions looked a bit lacking? Not necessarily with the noodles but with the toppings. They do still give a whole egg which i appreciate but the other toppings were very little, i probably had like 6 tiny pieces of cabbage and a tiny bit of the wood ear fungus thing. Probably the best sushi in the pocket area. Definitely the best in the vicinity of Garcia Bend. The service was fast and customer service was excellent. The sushi roll I got was the Chef's Special roll which was super good. It's so unique in flavor, like a fusion of Japanese and Southeast Asian. The grilled whole squid was really good too. Not dry and it was marinated perfectly. I really like how they brought us a pepper dipping sauce that was unique to Hmong people which made the squid even better. All in all, I love this place. I was craving ramen, so my boyfriend and I decided to visit Tenjin. Right away, I noticed something was different, the familiar married couple who used to run the place weren't there. Curious, I checked Yelp and saw that the restaurant is under new ownership. Here's how our visit went: we were seated quickly, but it took a long time for anyone to take our order or even bring us water. That gave me time to read more about the ownership change on Yelp. For a moment, we considered leaving because the service was so slow. Eventually, a young woman came to take our order, but her tone was so flat and robotic that it felt like we were talking to an automated system. The food also took a while to arrive, and we had only ordered two ramen bowls. I think their menu is too large, they offer over 10 plus ramen options, plus bentos, rice plates, sushi, and appetizers. It might help if they scaled back and focused on a smaller, more refined selection. I ordered the miso butter ramen and my boyfriend got the black/red ramen. The broth in both was good, but the toppings were noticeably sparse. They gave us plenty of noodles, but skimped on things like corn and ground meat. Service definitely needs improvement. After our food was served, no one checked on us except to refill our water. The older lady who seated us never came back to see how things were going. The warm, friendly service that Tenjin used to have is gone. The new management doesn't seem as welcoming, and because of that, I don't think I'll be returning. We waited quite awhile to be seated and for our food, it wasn't very busy in the restaurant until about 20 minutes of waiting for our food. I believe they take reservations as well, would probably recommend for a bigger party or if you don't want to wait. Hidden gem! We came here on a Sunday afternoon on the whim after driving around looking at the Christmas lights. Greeted by the sweetest lady and felt taken care of. Avg size table seats 4 ppl and there are no booths here but they can connect multiple tables together to accommodate larger groups. Busy plaza with good amount of parking. Because of the dim lighting ambiance definitely feels more intimate . Service was quick, was able to order within 5 minutes. They have a very extensive menu with plenty of options to choose from. From udon, ramen, appetizers, donburri, curry plates, .... they have it all. Definitely operating with a small amount of staff but I felt like quality of food and service was not sacrificed. Prices here are a lot more reasonable than other ramen places. Wife got black and red ramen and I got the deluxe tan-tan men noodles. We also had takoyaki and fried squid tentacles. Noodles could've been cooked a bit longer but overall, the food was good, serving size was a generous. Soup could've had a little more depth but if you're looking for a ramen fix, this will definitely do the trick. But they are late every time if i pick up the order after 5pm and the place is not even packed. We landed on the garlic fried rice and 2 orders of the challenge ramen. The rice was AMAZING! We will definitely be back to get more of it! The portions for all of the dishes were a nice size. I came for the ramen and realized they serve so much more than just ramen here. For this first visit I dined in and sat at a small table in the middle of the restaurant. They had a birthday party going on with about ten people and then a few other tables enjoying meals when I was there. The staff was very attentive and I had water right away and they checked in on me a few times while I looked over the menu. I was surprised by how many options they had. They had over thirty options for just ramen. They also have options for udon, donburi, chahan, fried noodles, curry, rice plates and cold noodles. I'll definitely need to come back to try more, but for this visit I ordered a Thai iced tea ($4.50) and the Spicy Chanpon Ramen ($15.95) that has a spicy pork broth, with pork, shrimp, scallops, fish cakes and veggies. The ramen came steaming hot and was a very generous portion. There were plenty of shrimp and while the scallops were tiny there were a good amount of them. I loved the fishcakes and the ingredients went so well with the spicy broth. The noodles were also a great texture. Next time I would order an egg with it, just because I really enjoy the boiled eggs with my ramen but it was still great even without it. I ended up bringing leftovers home. So lucky to have a solid ramen spot in the neighborhood! It's not usually crowded, but don't let that deter you. Parking is also a breeze as the lot doesn't usually get too busy. My husband and I usually get the same thing and the quality is always consistent. We love the fried squid legs, black tonkotsu ramen, and black + red ramen. I've also tried the pork katsu curry and was stunned by the portion. Plenty to share or have for leftovers! Very quick service for the delicious meals.
