We enjoyed our takeout order this evening. Our order was called in to a very friendly employee. She repeated the order over the phone and indicated when it would be ready. We were greeted by a friendly employee. She proceeded to help patrons on her way back to the kitchen. Our food was ready as promised. Nicely packaged and was still hot when we got home. Best of all the portion of food was plentiful and very tasty! The yelp menus online were very dated. I captured updated menu images and posted.

Freshly made Genmai green tea just for us.

What to do when having dark and gloomy days? We decided to come to our favorite Edokko Japanese restaurant for lunch. It sits in Pocket area in Sacramento. It is small but very cozy place and has hundred of tasty Japanese comfort foods. We have been coming here over 30 years since our kids were little. It's the best and probably only one Machi Chūka style restaurant in Northern California. And the prices are very reasonable.

Yes. They are open inside! I have now been coming here for 30 (yes, thirty) years and in my opinion they are even BETTER than ever. Everything is fresh and flavorful and served hot and the food quality has continued to improve, even though I really didn't think it could get any better. The service is outstanding (shout out to Ben!!)

First time trying this lil gem in my brother in law neighborhood, it's a must try! It's small but very clean and customer service is amazing and very attentive. We had the Shoyu Ramen, Pork Chahan and miso soup it was all delicious and flavorful. I highly recommend this place and would give it a try, don't let the bad reviews keep you from not trying this place. We will definitely be coming back and giving other menu items a try.

Best japanese food in all of norcal , taste exactly when i was in hiroshima when i was there . Will be taking my girlfriend here with me again to enjoy great japanese food.

We were actually supposed to try my girlfriend's favorite place. I guess next time we'll try her place. This has been the go place for the past couple of years for my girlfriend and I. She lives around the corner so this place is so convenient. They have ample parking as they share a lot with others in the strip mall. If you're lucky you can even get a parking space in-front. We've been lucky once and it was nice. Usually we park down a row. Their hours from 11:30am -8 pm. We usually get there at 11:30am to beat the crowd. Today we arrived around 1pm and we just hit the take out frenzy time. I can't believe how many take out orders they had. They just kept coming. Someone even ordered their hot food tray. The people kept streaming in to pick up their orders. Actual in restaurant guest were down to 3 tables. There had to be around 8 to go orders during the time we were there. It could be due to the storms that were on and off all day. I can't blame people for not wanting to come out. At one time it was pouring buckets. Not just a drizzle or hard rain it was coming down like a garden hose was turned on high. To our happy surprise you can get their lunch special Bento Boxes on the weekend. That was a surprise as most places don't offer their lunch specials on the weekends. The lunch specials are offered from 11:30am-3;30pm. The Bento Box is $15.50 (4-11-26) served with rice, salad and sunomono for dine in only. You can pick any two from a long list of options and unlike some places the Salmon isn't an up charge. I got the Chicken Teriyaki and miso asparagus. The asparagus is blanched and served with a miso based sauce. I find both very tasty. My girlfriend got the Chicken Teriyaki and Sesame Chicken. The Sesame Chicken is battered and fried and topped with the same teriyaki glaze that the chicken Teriyaki is topped with. I tried her Sesame Chicken and it was very good, but I prefer not eating fried foods. The other dish that I really like is the agedashi tofu. That's crispy battered tofu. So tasty. I'm glad we came here for lunch today. It was extremely tasty and just the right amount to fill our tummies and with enough food to take home for a snack later. If you haven't tried Banzai Sushi you should and come for the lunch special. It's the best deal around town.

I went to Banzai Sushi last night and left before even being seated due to the unacceptable manner…read morein which I was harangued about whether my service dog is truly a service dog. I have lived in the neighborhood for ten years now and have been to Banzai about a dozen times in that period. I am a disabled veteran, and after years of waiting, I finally got a VA-sponsored service dog 4.5 months ago to help me just function and navigate socially in life after having gone through some extremely traumatic events while serving and shedding blood for my country. My dog (an English cream golden) received five months of expert training followed by me undergoing five weeks of daily handler training with Northwest Battle Buddies (https://northwestbattlebuddies.org/) in Battleground, WA. We trained daily in stores, malls, restaurants, the light rail, and even through the TSA lines at PDX. I brought my dog home to Sacramento almost five months ago. He goes with me everywhere. I am with him at the Greenhaven Grocery Outlet or the croissant place next store nearly every day always walking by Banazai in the process. He is always vested, wearing his official Front Street shelter-issued Sacramento service-dog tag, and under leash control at my left side. He has never caused a disturbance or had any accidents. In restaurants, he just lays at my feet and goes to sleep. If you weren't looking, you wouldn't even know he was there. I've taken him to several dozen restaurants and never had an issue until Banzai staff confronted me last night. I did not expect that my local sushi place would look down on that, question whether my clearly identified service dog was a legitimate service dog, and violate ADA law repeatedly in the process. I get many people exploit the system claiming their pets or ESAs are service animals. Nobody hates that more than legitimate service dog handlers. But that does not give you the right to presume everybody is doing so and violate ADA law. When my wife, my service dog, and I arrived at Banzai yesterday evening one of your staff members asked to see some sort of certificate proving he is a service dog. Despite the fact that no such standardized certificate exists; you are not allowed to ask that question...nor is a service animal required to be vested or visually marked in any way as being a service dog. Still, mine always is. I showed you his vest and Sacramento city-issued service dog tag to you. That was still apparently not enough for you, as you made some snarky comment about how service dogs "usually are." You gave us a table but continued to comment that you were somehow justified in your grilling of even claiming what we need to read the fine print of the ADA laws. There is no "fine print" (you made that up). I tried to explain to you calmly and politely that your interpretation of the law was not based on reality. I was met with a "I'm sorry you feel that way" condescending platitude. I explained that this had nothing to do me feeling any sort of way, but rather, from the spoken words out of your mouth. By this point, I had no desire to be a continuing patron of Banzai Sushi and providing revenue to a place with such disrespect and unwarranted skepticism of disabled veterans and the service dogs which allow them to function in society. BTW, There are only two questions you can ask a person presenting what they claim is a service dog: 1) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? That's it. No demanding of non-existent certificates or fabricating your own unlearned criteria of what a service dog is and does. Furthermore, there are only two instances where you can deny or revoke a service dogs presence in your establishment: * The dog is not housebroken. * The dog is out of control, and the person cannot get the dog under control. Neither of those was or has ever been a problem with my well-trained service dog. It would probably be good for your staff to familiarize themselves with the law without fabricating "fine print" clauses. Here is a good place to start: https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/

The restaurant is super cute and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and shaded which is perfect for warmer Sacramento months. They have a variety of menu items including a build your own bowl opton, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, loaded fries, musubi and an udon special. I ended up ordering the Umami Udon with special chicken as my protein ($13.50), a Build Your Own Bowl with fried rice, katsu chicken, the triple katsu sauce, and stir fried veggies with "The Works" ($16.50), and Musubi ($8.75). The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

Kado Asian Fusion is located on Broadway and cater to the lunch/dinner crowds. They are open from 12-8pm every day except Sundays. The inside was clean and had a decent amount of tables. We ordered at the counter and then sat at a table while we waited for our food to go. They offer bowls, tacos, nachos, rolls and sandwiches! I don't always know what to order at new places - so I liked that they had signs for specials as well as "favorites." We ordered the Rice with Teriyaki Chicken, Oliver's Favorite which was Spam Musubi and Spam and Bacon Fried Rice and Mom and Dad's Forbidden Feast. Everything looked and tasted really good! Obviously, it would have been much better had we actually eaten in the restaurant, but still no complaints once we got it home. Spam Musubi is one of my favorite things to eat so I could have downed like 5 of them! Portions were huge too - they even have a 100 year old teriyaki recipe! Overall, I would definitely come back and try other items! Staff were also very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! Check them out!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more Would I come back? Yes, friendly service. They can accommodate their broths for vegetarians. If you can handle it, always ask for a medium spice level. Tips for first-timers: 1) Plenty of free parking 2) They accept reservations The Food: Vegetable Tempura ($18.95, Grade A): I like how they cut the vegetables--not too chunky. There is nothing worse than a chunky carrot that isn't cooked to its core. The tempura batter doesn't pull off when you bite into it, and it isn't oily at all. Yasai Ramen ($17.95, Grade A): Asked for a water broth to make this safe and vegetarian-friendly. You would think it would be tasteless, but it was surprisingly packed with flavor. The medium spice level definitely helped, but even for people sensitive to heat, this would be a tasty dish. It says water-based, but it still has a deep, eye-appealing dark color. The noodles have a great bite. Not overly mushy. And they stay that way for the entire meal. Broccoli, zucchini, bean sprouts, wood ear mushrooms, and cabbage. The cubed tofu is fresh and wasn't spoiled which often happens with tofu in restaurants that a lot of people don't order daily. Jungle Roll ($14.95, Grade A): Avocado and cucumber, topped with a seaweed salad. Most Japanese restaurants fail to understand that vegetarians also want a fun roll! We asked if they could include a vegetable tempura inside the roll so there would be a good textural component, and added a drizzle of teriyaki and spicy mayo. Good news--they were able to do it, though having to check with the sushi bar is always an adventure ($1 extra for each request). Sidenote: Why do all Japanese restaurants need to ask the sushi bar? One-hundred percent of the time, we eagerly have to wait for the sushi court to give a "rolling." (Ruling if that was too vague). The rolls are made fresh and many meat-based rolls include a tempura element rolled inside. I could understand if we're asking to deep fry the roll, but just adding a tempura and a drizzled sauce? Ok, hopping off my soapbox. Bottom Line We've been coming to this place on and off for over ten years. It's been at least 2 years since our last visit, and there are some noticeable changes. Portions are smaller; the ramen bowls used to be the size of a food challenge. The restaurant itself is looking older and not quite as cared for, but the flavors remain excellent and the friendly, attentive service is completely unchanged.

My friend watched the waitress stack the 5 trays and left to process payment. Waitress returned and told them she was missing one payment. The party insisted that they all paid. The manager came to the table and told them they had to pay before they leave. Again, the party insisted they all paid. One of the ladies asked,"Are you saying that we're lying? There's security cameras in this room. Go review the footage and you can see the proof that we all paid and the waitress took the trays." Apparently the security cameras weren't functioning as he wouldn't look at the footage. The manager wanted to charge the missing payment to the person who used a charge card for her payment and the group told him that was not acceptable. The dispute went on for 30 minutes and customers at a near by table kept turning around and looking at us. The manager stepped away again and returned shortly with the missing payment saying that he found it under the cash register! There was no true apology, no effort to compensate the group for the embarrassing behavior and accusations. Clearly it was the waitress' mistake and she didn't apologize to the group. This is unacceptable behavior from the manager. Knowing this happened yesterday, I will no longer dine at Akebono. Very poor customer service.

I was referred to the owner Vinh who handled the situation with such care and understanding. He was extremely apologetic and offered to take care of the bill along with another generous offer. I was blown away by his generosity and consideration in wanting to make things right. I've always appreciated the fresh sushi, reasonable prices, & hospitality, but getting to interact with the owner and having that great of an experience really sealed the deal. Thank you again for excellent service. Please do yourself a favor and check out this wonderful restaurant. They will not disappoint! I typically order takeout but their dining room is very nice, clean and inviting. I would love to dine in next time.

Although we live in Elk Grove, itll be worth the drive for their Crispy Rice spicy Tuna appetizer, crunchy soft shell crab, and my favorite: their Wagyu Beef sushi roll. We ordered 4 rolls, 2 appetizers, and miso soups. we understood our order was large so took time to make and bc of the little wait, they complimented us with Uber ice-cream ... omgggg so delicious. Will definitely come back and bring other people.

We also ordered a Large Sashimi, a Sake Sashimi and a Touch Roll. Our bill was $140 for three people. While the fish itself is incredibly fresh, the Elk Grove Roll is loaded with savory sauces, shrimp tempura, and seared BBQ albacore. Because it is heavily dressed and features cooked elements on top, it is not recommended for strict raw-fish lovers who are looking for that clean, purist sashimi experience. It's built for indulgence, not subtlety. The Ambience vs. The Price Tag. The first thing you'll notice upon walking in is that the interior design is very simple. It's clean and functional, but it lacks the upscale, immersive atmosphere you might expect when looking at the menu. With most specialty rolls pushing near the $20 mark, the decor doesn't quite match the premium, high-end price range of the food. Where they don't skimp, however, is the hospitality. The service here is excellent--attentive, polite, and prompt. When the food arrives, it's clear that the sushi chefs take immense pride in their craft. The presentation is beautiful, and the quality and quantity of the ingredients are undeniably good. You definitely get a substantial amount of food for what you pay.

There is a designated parking lot across the street, so it's easy to grab a spot and walk over. Just be careful because the parking spots in the lot aren't well marked and it's easiest to just park neatly next to other cars. We like to sit at the bar if there's just two of us, and will grab a table when we have friends. If you want to make sure you have a table, you can make a reservation ahead of time, but we usually don't need to wait too long. Our favorites are the brussel sprouts, karaage chicken, and their nigiri. We also really enjoy the sukiyaki, it's really flavorful and perfect for cooler or rainy weather. We still need to come by for brunch, but we've heard good things. The team here is always friendly, and we've been in enough that some of them recognize us now.

Parking is very tight since it's on a strip plaza and shares parking with other shops. I like spam musubi and rice balls, so this place is a "hidden" gem to me. They have a variety of rice balls, onigiri, rolls, inaris, and rice bowls. It's very convenient for if you want to do a picnic, want a snack to eat in the car when going out of town or a good snack for hiking. The rolls are easy for grab and go. The prices are decent, and I feel like you're getting your money's worth. Inside the shop, there's 2 tables for you to dine in, but it's best to take it to go since inside the shop is a bit small. Last time I was here, I got the spam musubi and Kurobuta sausage roll. I enjoyed both. They are a bit on the smaller side, but I'm okay with that. I haven't gotten a chance to try their inari, onigiri, or rice bowls. I'll have to make time to come back. Customer service is great also. The young cashier's behind the the register were patient with me while I looked at all the options and asked them a few questions. They were quick and efficient once I started naming iff my order. I'll be back!
