    Vegetarian Ramen
    Sheetal A.

Ordered a vegetarian Ramen, unfortunately never came with any veggies. I paid for extra mushrooms, bamboo. Nothing came in it, it happened last time too. If you guys dont add extra veggies, why charge the customer? It's negligence, or the restaurant dosnt care. Im, sorry. Im never ordering again!!!

IMHO First things first. The broth is amazing, creamy, and full of flavor! My friend and I both ordered the Black Garlic Osaka Tonkotsu with thin noodles, $16.95. I added a soft-boiled egg which brought my cost to $18.40. We also ordered a side of 5 chicken wings, $9.95. The soup broth is what I expect from a Ramen restaurant, deep and hearty flavor. The noodles were plentiful and perfectly cooked. The only complaint is for the four slices of thinly sliced char siu. The meat had no flavor and had the texture of leather. Because the meat was thinly sliced, I expected it to melt in my mouth. Sadly, the meat was a disappointment. Did they use day-old meat? I felt it needed to be marinated for a flavor punch. Maybe next visit, I'll try the chicken instead. The fried chicken wings appetizer was excellent, crispy and tasty! I would definitely order it again. Service was friendly. Restaurant is whimsically decorated. Yes, I will definitely return.

Osaka Ramen was a letdown for me this time. Service was very slow, and the overall experience just didn't come together. The ramen broth wasn't hot and lacked depth of flavor, the noodles were too firm, and the chashu was slightly tough. The one bright spot was the karaage, which was decent and probably the best thing we ordered, though even that wasn't the best I've had. Maybe it's just my personal taste, because this place has been around for decades and clearly has its fans. For me though, it didn't quite hit the mark.

We really don't know what to say about Ramen Osaka other than it's had a disappointing decline. We've been coming here for years, pre renovation and everything. This used to be THE spot. My friends and I would gather here after school, my parents and I would walk over for dinner, and it was all around an amazing addition to the neighborhood! We're not sure what has changed but it certainly hasn't changed for the better. The service is fine and the location is great being inside of EV Square and with parking around. The real issue lies in the food, it just isn't good. The noodles have a taste to them, we can't pinpoint it exactly, but it just isn't quite right. The chashu is also just not good, very dry and without flavor. Even the toppings are underwhelming. We ended up just wrapping things up early and taking our food to go. We don't want to rag on them too much because this used to be a much better local spot so hopefully they can figure things out, but as it stands this just was not good food.

Ramen Osaka is a cute spot that I remember happily going to years ago for their black garlic, but it sadly seems like it's fallen much since those days. Maybe I've just gotten super snotty as a ramen connoisseur, but it's hard not to compare with a broad range of far better options in other parts of San Jose. Although the broth is a decent base and the noodles still slurped, just about nothing else stuck the landing (except the adorably casual family members milling about the store). Broth in the tonkotsus, though creamy in body, was bland. The black garlic oil was a nice touch, but it can't carry the whole soup. Noodles were decent, albeit on the soft side for thick noodles and not much chew to them. You have a generous helping though so still alright. Sadly the toppings is the major letdown; basic toppings that are included elsewhere are extra here so it adds up fast (just spring onions are included). Just having corn and bamboo has this place even more expensive than places in the Valley Fair Mall...but hey if they tasted great it'd be fine right? Unfortunately, no dice. The chasiu was horridly dry, to the point it tasted like cardboard. It was hard to tell since it was panfried or something for a bit of aroma, but the texture was no good. The kakuni was even worse off with some pieces tasting like it was frozen. Not inedible, but not great. I've only ever seen my brother leave leftovers in a bowl of ramen once before, and this was the second time.

My friends and I went to Ramen Osaka in the Evergreen neighborhood around 11:00 PM and left around 11:30 PM as the last customers. Even though the restaurant wasn't officially closed yet, the staff clearly wanted to wrap things up early. Service was fast, but toward the end, it felt rushed, like they were ready for us to be out the door. We started with the gyoza appetizer, and that was the highlight -- crispy, crunchy, and full of flavor. Honestly, really solid. I ordered the Black Garlic Spicy Red Miso, and I'd give that bowl a 2 out of 5. The broth tasted like watered-down chicken cup of noodles with a splash of Tapatío -- definitely not the deep, spicy miso flavor I was expecting. I added corn (+$1.25) and an egg (+$1.45), but the egg was fully boiled instead of soft-boiled, and the chashu was tough and chewy instead of soft and tender. My cousin got the Black Garlic Japanese White Miso, which was okay, and my friend had the Black Garlic Osaka, which was by far the best -- rich, creamy, and actually tasted like a good bowl of ramen. The ambiance was meh -- pretty plain and unmemorable, not much in the way of atmosphere. And just after we left the door of the restaurant, a dog randomly wandered out from the back. Totally unexpected and not exactly reassuring in a food setting. If you're stopping by for a late-night bite, the gyoza and Osaka bowl are your best bet. Just be aware of the rushed service and keep expectations realistic -- especially near closing time.

I hadn't been to Ramen Osaka in a while, but I stopped by since I was craving ramen and it was nearby. The place is spacious and well air-conditioned, which was really nice on a warm day. I ordered the black garlic ramen with yellow noodles and added a boiled egg. The ramen itself was pretty good, flavorful and satisfying. I do wish it came with more toppings without needing to pay extra, but the overall price was still reasonable for San Jose. The portion size was generous and I had enough left over for a small meal the next day. Service-wise, it was a bit hit-or-miss. The staff didn't seem super attentive, but once I got their attention, they were friendly and quick. I also tried the strawberry milk tea for $4.50, which is one of the more affordable boba drinks I've found in the area. It wasn't anything crazy, but it was decent and hit the spot.

Hella kids coming to get boba at 3pm, but that is our bad lol Ramen broth was good, I'm a big fan of the black garlic Osaka tonkotsu with the skinny noodles and an egg, sooo good! I slurped the broth like a maniac subconsciously, and was surprised at how much noodles I had 8minutes into my meal lol My sister got the black garlic kakuni tonkotsu but states it was ok. But still good. The gyoza was also delicious. Would come back again because the price is right for Ramen in the Eastside of sj.

Thai tea and honeydew melon with boba

To preface, I have never had their ramen- I am rating their other items. - The boba is a highlight, in my opinion. The main thing they have on the rival establishment in the area, Cafe 86, is that their boba is much more affordable, especially outperforming competing items such as Thai Tea (much more worth it here instead of there). Unlike 86, they take cash, making it a good option for school aged children in the area, and their topping fee is only 50 cents, with their drinks being $4.50 for fruit and milk teas. The fruit teas are all reasonably good and have nice flavors (they are all syrup based). The only drink I haven't liked from here is the toasted rice milk tea. Their boba is always soft and well cooked. I really hope they maintain this pricing. - Their chicken katsu is crispy and delicious, with good sauce options. Occasionally, they have made the katsu a bit too tough, however, but I have to go back recently to try this again. - Their gyoza is good. The tofu was too soft for my taste, but for someone who is a fan of this style of preparation, it would be good. Service: The staff are helpful and accommodating. Food comes out quickly. Ambiance: The restaurant is clean and tables are well arranged, with sauce and cutlery options easily found. Not sure how busy it is at night, but it does get busy right after school hours, though it is not too unpleasant.

I've been coming to Ramen Osaka for a while now, during night hours! I love how it is chilly & relaxing inside although there aren't many customers during night hours tho.. Which more suitable for me aswell anyway and for those who wants to come in at a quiet time to eat hot & delish ramen. Well, this has been my go-to ramen place to eat at whenever i crave ramen! Just truly love how creamy and great portion--yet a decent price they have. I just wish they have an extra amount of toppings & don't have to pay extra lots. :') Still yummy tho! Will come back for more next time! (ps: i love how they have chilli powder on the side, makes it better as a big fan of spice. i get to adjust the spice level to my own taste & go crazy with it LOL)

If you like garlic, you will like the ramen here! I liked the broth because it's not salty like other ramen spots. Food and drinks came out a bit slow but it makes sense since they're a small family own store. Overall, pretty average ramen. The popcorn chicken tastes good. The boba and milk tea is cheap!

Yo I gotta give it up to Ramen Osaka-- the service here was absolutely immaculate. From the moment I stepped in, the vibe was welcoming, and everything ran smooth. I got my food fast -- no more than five minutes, and the refreshments came out just as promptly. That kind of efficiency? You don't see it everywhere. Major props to the kind lady who helped me out at the register. There was a little hiccup with my payment method, but she was super sweet, patient, and more than willing to give me time to return and finalize my order. That kind of grace under pressure deserves recognition -- thank you again for being so understanding and professional! Big shout out to Ramen Osaka-- this spot just earned a regular. If you're into ramen or just love good energy and even better food, do yourself a favor and check them out! - @maleus_maleficarum my Tiktok

I only came for a drink - walked by while I was on lunch break, walked in & was greeted right away. I wasn't hungry but I was thirsty after walking the farmer's market. I got the fruit bomb with lychee jelly (+.50) & aloe Vera (+.50) total was $6.01. The drink itself was really refreshing. I saw people getting the ramen & it actually looked really tasty! I would definitely come back to give their ramen a try next time & update the review. But as for now, based on service & drink I will definitely be back. Also; their air conditioning system here is WONDERFUL.

This is supermarket tofu's. I've never been to a Japanese restaurant that made this stuffs so BAD.

Oh! I am delightfully full! The rich umami broth really sets this place apart from others. What I…read morereally like about this place is that one may customize the menu depending on dietary concerns (vegan, lactose-free, shellfish allergens etc.), but however one customizes, the quality is fort-rate. Our party consisted of family and friends who had differing dietary concerns, but we were each able to eat delicious ramen without any worries. We started out with some appetizers - the Karaage Chicken and the Umami cucumber. The chicken had a nice crunch, yet the meat was juicy and tender! Nice! I appreciate the matcha salt that came with the chicken, as it added a little extra flavor to the chicken. And the umami cucumbers were joyfully crisp, with a slightly sweet soy sauce base, the sesame seeds and the bonito flakes on top adding to the umami. I ordered the Sukiyaki Beef Ramen - something unique, and it is not listed on the colorful poster on the door, nor was it listed on the menu card on the table. It caught my eye, though, when I ordered using the QR code. I felt like this was something on a secret menu or something . . . I was in heaven! The sukiyaki beef was tender and flavorful with that sukiyaki sweetness, and it perfectly balanced the saltiness of the broth. Oh, darn! I forgot to take a photo of the bowl of ramen!! Oops! Well, as I mentioned at the start of this review, I was delightfully full at the end, especially since I just could not leave perfectly delicious broth in the bowl. Good enough to drink as a soup!
