IMHO It's been 3 years since I last dined here. My best friend was in town and wanted to go back to an old favorite. She dropped me off to get a table, so she could find parking in the crowded lot. I walked in, made eye contact with the guy behind the counter. I received no greeting. The dining room looked full. Servers were bustling back and forth. Take-out orders were being placed on their staging table. A Door Dasher came in to pick his order but had to wait. I kept trying to see if anyone would acknowledge me. Maybe after 5 minutes, someone finally asked, "Have you been helped?" My party of three were escorted to the adjacent dining area, which was quieter and the booths were comfier. (see my previous review). Service was very friendly, genuine and available. We ordered three different bento boxes, which came with rice, salad, tempura, gyoza. Food as always was delicious and flavorful. In the three years from my last visit, the price of the bento boxes has only gone up by 50 cents! Not bad! Will we return? You bet! read more

I ordered takeout from Yuri and it was more than I expected. Usually if you order sushi to go it would be small, but here the rolls were so big. I ate 4 pieces and was full already! It was delicious and the fish was so fresh and big. Since I got takeout, I can't say much about the service or atmosphere, but everything seemed nice and well-organized. I love that it is a local run place and one of the few sushi restaurants in this particular area. It has a pleasant ambiance with friendly staff, you see them making sushi tight there, and they have some cool, traditional-looking booths, that actually you sit at a tables but looks like you're on the floor. I didn't get to sit there but would like to some day. Service is great because the tables and booths have a bell to ring to get their attention. That's a nice touch. The sushi was average. Tuna lacking a little brightness, and rice a little dry, but still tasty. Their ginger is good; sweeter side vs hot side. The tempura was also very good. I am already excited to return to Yuri! This was a hidden gem we stumbled upon in a large plaza in the Evergreen area. It was moderately busy but had plenty of tables for customers in regular seating areas, bars, and various booths. The overall atmosphere was tranquil, quiet, and politely welcoming. Yuri has both Japanese and Korean options. They have some Korean entrees, sushi, and bento boxes, to name a few menu categories. I ordered the Bulgogi bento box, which came with miso soup, a side of salad, an orange slice, a large bowl of rice, a generous serving of bulgogi, gyoza, and tempura - all fairly priced. I loved the savory bulgogi and the tempura, although I gave my friend the shrimp one because I have a shrimp allergy. The other tempura were covered potatoes, and at first bite, I experienced crispiness and a melt in my mouth. After indulging in everything in my bento box, I was satisfied but did not feel too heavy after. My mom and I frequented Yuri Japanese Restaurant over the years. They have been around since 1986 with the same owner! Congrats! They are located in a large shopping plaza with Lucky Supermarket, CVS Pharmacy, Evergreen Panda, Lee's Sandwiches, etc. There is plenty of parking available. The restaurant is very spacious and has different seating options available, like table, tatami, and sushi bar. In the past, we've ordered their bentos, and some sushi. Tonight, I was able to visit with them again. Since, I already ate dinner, I just picked up a California Roll. Traditional kani stick and avocado only. The rice was lightly seasoned with vinegar. The avocado was nice and soft. The owner is super friendly and nice. Overall, 3.5 stars but rounding up for service and quality of food. read more

She had the one with save (mackerel) and I had a tempura box. It was quite nicely done. the tempura was crisp but lightly battered. It was not "armor plated" like some places that use thick batter and don't keep the ingredients cold until frying. My mom's mackerel was good as well. In general, a good, but average, experience. Honestly, this place hits the spot. Nothing crazy fancy nor spectacular, but they do have an amazing assortment of super interesting rolls for when you're craving a decadent version of Americanized sushi. The ingredients are by no means "Japanese" (lmao @ the macadamia nuts on the rolls), but the flavors work and I fully embrace the heresy with acknowledgment that this is American sushi. We got the baked salmon and caterpillar roll for takeout, which was honestly pretty expensive for the size of it. It was a standard sized roll, but the baked salmon was about $18, which is the most I've ever paid for a roll. Not sure if this is accounting for inflation or the pandemic, but all these other reviews saying how giant the roll is....I don't see it? Where?? Anyways, I was super craving baked salmon, so I still enjoyed my meal. The food was 3.5 ...4 stars maybe? Based on pure comfort satisfaction. But for the price, that hurt a bit. The Katsu Curry still shines, even though the amount of Katsu has become smaller and smaller. I love the ginger and bean sprouts sides! This place is so cute! I had initially only gotten takeout from here, but dining in was such a great experience. The service is fast and efficient. The booths and tables are perfect for small parties under 4. They have a whole section they can open up for bigger parties so I really loved the layout of the restaurant. I came here with a friend and we had a blast. We ended up staying for 3 hours and the hosts were so nice to let us sit and chat even though we lost track of time. We ordered: 1. I've had a birthday dinner here and they offer a private section for you and your party. I've gotten the Flashbang roll, Baked Salmon roll, and the Kelvinator roll. So I came here with no big expectations and ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would mostly because the food just hit the right notes nothing complicated but really nicely made and seasoned and I could tell everything was prepared with some attention which isn't always the case and I liked that the staff took time to say hello and smile and not just at the start they kept being nice the whole time without hovering and that makes a big difference especially when you're just trying to eat and unwind a bit and it's not one of those places that tries too hard it's just comfortable and clean and felt kind of homey in a good way and even though I didn't try a ton of dishes the ones I did have were balanced and satisfying and didn't feel heavy after which is something I pay attention to and I think places like this that stay consistent and treat people kindly deserve to be appreciated even if they're not flashy. read more

Love coming here! My fiancé and I had our second date here, four years ago. The staff members are always polite, quick to serve and efficient. Food - I got the nigiri combo (8 pcs chefs choice) and I thought it was just okay. The fish was a bit mushy and some pieces were tougher, and my main ick was that the pieces of fish were too big to one bite so it was a bit awkward to eat. The unagi roll was also just meh, and I found there to be more avocado than eel with the eel taste not even standing out that much over the avocado and sauce. Service - it was fine nothing great but nothing bad either. An extra star given for serving the community during the shelter-in-place order. 1. Pick up the phone to place an order. 2. Go there 5 min earlier. 3. Pay by credit card or cash (with tips please). 4. Pick up a pen from the the box that's marked "sanitized" to sign 5. Put the pen into the box that's marked "used" when done 6. Food came out on time! 7. Pick up your food and head to the exit (different than the entrance) The whole transaction was very smooth. While whole 5 to 10 min I was there, I spotted at least 6 orders waiting to be picked up and 5 different people waiting for their orders. Very good business. The employees at the Chinese takeout next to it were probably squatting flies as I didn't see any customers inside. Please please please tip the employees. Considering the current climate of our SIP mandate, I have chose to DoorDash or order takeout from local small businesses. I have heard of Yuri in the past but have never had a chance to try anything off their menu until recently. I DoorDashed two items -- the "Rainbow Roll" and "Something Different" (which came out to $52 after fees and gratuity). Uh, never again. I was really disappointed in taste, freshness of fish, and the amount of sauce they dumped all over my sushi. The texture of the raw fish was just wrong -- the portions were too thick. Maybe I just ordered wrong items for my palette. I'm all for second chances and may give them another shot when we're all able to dine in again but until then, I'll refrain from ordering delivery or takeout from this joint. read more

Some highlights were: Dynamite - uni, quail egg; amazing!! 1986 - fried snapper, tuna, salmon, shrimp; unique with the snapper and a good combination of flavors TJ Reginald - generous portions of salmon and tuna Claire's Classic - topped with scallops! Aesthetics of the restaurant are cute with Japanese fans, umbrellas, lanterns on the walls and ceiling. You wouldn't be able to tell from the outside. Service was top-notch! They were very honest. They didn't have enough uni for 6 people, but they could have distributed what they had for 5 and charged us the same amount. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. They took lots of pictures for my mom. They even gave us an extra roll on the house! Only complaint is that for the S. White Roll, the unagi sauce was a little sweet. I'm surprised this restaurant only has 3.5s though because this was a great, albeit pricey experience. read more
