    Shoyu Ramen
    Justin H.

We walked in and waited to be acknowledged. Some lady sitting at a booth ended up grabbing us some menus and telling us to sit down. Ok, odd. We ordered our ramen, Shoyu and a Deluxe. They came out at a decent time given they were a bit busy. What was odd is the same lady, who was eating at that booth, got up and brought our food to us. Yeah how about no to that one. For the Shoyu, $11.99 you get some broth, noodles, green onions, half a hard boiled egg and three pieces of pork. The quality of broth and noodles seemed a bit light for the cost The real concern came to flavor, or really the lack of any. My wife's also lacked flavor and she said mine was bland as well. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to some ramen. This is a one and done for sure.

    Classic Tonkotsu Ramen

Tucked in an unassuming shopping plaza is Ramen Tatsu. Being by Spring Mountain Rd, there are literally hundreds of Asian restaurants, and plenty of ramen. It's easy to get overwhelmed in lost, especially for a visitor like me. Meandering the area, I saw a yellow banner out front announcing "Authentic Japanese Noodles". That's not what drew me in, for countless restaurants claim authenticity without understanding the responsibility the word entails. I can only say there was an inkling and before I knew it, my steering wheel sharply rolled into the plaza practically on its own accord. The interior was dark and cozy, the chilled air a welcoming relief from the 105F out today. Ohtani at the plate on the corner tv. A line of miniature structures in a lit display on the main wall. I didn't examine them closely but they were like a Japanese version of the miniature village you'd see around Christmas. A couple of customers already slurping away at their bowls. I opted for the classic tonkotsu, no added spiciness so that I can judge the broth without distraction. The white, creamy, Fukuoka style broth is notoriously difficult to make and so a large majority of restaurants don't do it - yes, even ramen specialty shops. Extracting the flavors and richness is more than boiling a bunch of bones and calling it a day. I didn't ask the kitchen on their exact technique but from my limited knowledge, in a nutshell, as bones boil for a long time, the collagen and fat breakdown and emulsify into the water. It's beyond just throwing ingredients into a stockpot but this isn't a cookbook, I'm just a novice, and chances are you're looking to simply decide is this place good or nah so basically, if the broth is milky white, there's a decent chance it's going to be good. Milky white it was, accompanied by delightfully chewy, perfectly cooked thin strands of noodles. Topped simply with woodear mushrooms, scallions and chashu. Like implied above, you don't need to cover something that's already good with too much other stuff. The broth was lovely and satisfying. Rich without being cloying. I haven't had comparable broth like this in the States since Ippudo in NYC. Needless to say, I left an empty bowl. --- Note: Resist the urge to ask to substitute the thin, straight noodles for the more familiar thick, wavy kind if you'd like it proper Fukuoka authentic. Thick and wavy are for light broths like shoyu where the waves help pick up more broth. Tonkotsu doesn't require that as it holds up on its own perfectly.

Stumbled into this place after my original lunch spot was closed. The service was genuinely nice and polite right from the start. I got excited when I saw you could pick your spice level, so I went with jigoku entry and yeah... it delivered! But honestly, I really wanted to like the food more than I did. The broth felt like it was lacking in flavor for me and karaage was also on the bland side... If I had to highlight something it would be the tsukemen, not the best I've ever had but it has stronger flavor compared to the other dishes I tried.

I've been wanting to come here for a few years but every time I decided to go, it was during busy time; which means lack of parking. I finally got to come here on a weekday, right at opening time. It was just me there and I had the best service. I spoke with the server and the cooks. They were really nice and suggested the spicy ramen as their more popular item. Boy were the right! The broth was amazing and the thick noodles hit the spot. I took home the half that I couldn't finish and my daughter said it was the best ramen she's ever had. I'm planning on taking her this weekend so she can experience it fresh and hot in person.

This is one of my favorite ramen spots in Las Vegas, and firmly ranks among my top five ramen shops in the city. Expect tasty, satisfying ramen that won't break the bank. They serve authentic Japanese ramen and are family-owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team from Japan, with consistently top-notch quality and service. The ramen is also a bit more affordable than most places in the valley, which is a nice bonus. For starters, I tried the Seaweed Soup, which was piping hot and tasty, and the House Salad, with a ginger dressing made in-house that I absolutely loved! I also had the Tonkotsu ramen, while my friend ordered the Spicy Miso, which I also sampled. Both broths were flavorful, and not overly salty, but fair warning: even the medium spice level of the spicy ramen is extremely spicy!! The shop is small and cozy and tends to get busy, with only a few tables and limited parking; it is located within one of the busiest complexes in Chinatown, and arguably in all of Las Vegas, so plan accordingly! That said, it's truly a hidden gem, and well worth the visit.

First time here and noticed that the entire staff at least appeared to be Japanese! We figured the food would be authentic and tried the Shio Ramen with medium spice (extra $1.50 for the spice), fried rice, tonkatsu, and takowasa. The flavor profile in everything was amazing! The spicy shio ramen had the comfy-warm-soup-for-the-cold-weather vibes, and I loved how chewy the noodles were. I'm not a huge fan of pork but loved their tonkatsu! It was a good balance of lean but not dry. The dressing to the shredded cabbage was so good; I devoured that real fast. The fried rice was yummy and reminded my friend of the fried rice she had in Japan. The portions were on the smaller side, but the meal was definitely high in quality. The servers were super friendly and checked on us multiple times throughout the night! They were also really nice about letting us switch tables when we wanted to move to the booth. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Having lived in Japan for 12 years and then coming back to the States, that hard craving for authentic Japanese food is real--and honestly, it's wild how difficult it is to find a ramen shop that truly hits the spot. We've tried so many places, and Ramen Tatsu is one of the few that really stands out. Once we found out the owner is Okinawan, we already had high hopes--and wow, they did not disappoint. The ramen is packed with flavor and genuinely takes me right back to our days living in Japan. Every bite feels comforting and familiar. The beef bowl is a huge family favorite, the fried rice is always satisfying, and the takoyaki balls are consistently made to perfection--crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. The only reason I'm giving Ramen Tatsu a 4 instead of a 5 is due to some inconsistency during our last few visits. It felt like there wasn't as much heart put into the food as usual. Our ramen and fried rice came out a bit oilier than normal. I'm not sure if it was a new or different chef, or just someone having an off day (or days), but the consistency hasn't quite been there recently. That being said, we will always stay loyal to this shop. Our family truly enjoys the food, and coming here makes us feel like we're back home in Japan--and that feeling alone means so much to us.

This place is a gem hidden inside a small but busy strip mall. Tiny and very cute and cozy.Prices are very good. They were also very nice and allowed us to sub some of the toppings. Ramen was chewy the way I like it. The broth was flavorful and rich. The egg was perfectly seasoned and jammy. Be warned that "mild" turned out to be still pretty spicy.

Spicy miso with added garlic chips. AMAZING

Update: 8 years later and can still say this is the best ramen in Vegas! Ordered the exact same thing and am still blown away by how consistently amazing it is

Ramen Tatsu Big size bowl of Ramen. Small local business with a great vibe and atmosphere. Tonkatsu Ramen was excellent and a gut puncher with the generous amount of food! Potstickers are a nice compliment to the Ramen and would highly recommend along the Karrage chicken. Add in a variety of items with your Ramen to enhance your bowl. Highly recommend this restaurant

Ramen Tatsu is hidden in an extremely busy plaza, but it had amazing reviews, so we decided to stop in while in the area for a quick date night. The biggest issue of our night was finding a parking space, but we were seated right away when we finally made it in. I don't know if I set the standards for this place too high, but unfortunately, I was not a huge fan. I started off with the Takoyaki appetizer, one of my favorites. They were good, nothing too crazy that you can say about a Takoyaki, unless it's overcooked, old seafood, etc. I opted to try their shoyu ramen, added some corn. My husband tried their Miso ramen, added egg. Typically, I love a shoyu broth for my ramen, but Tatsu's broth did not hit the spot for me. It tasted oily, the pork was seared but didn't really add any depth of flavor to my dish, and the broth just lacked that simmering flavor I expect with a ramen. My husband whose favorite is a miso broth, did enjoy his and he was able to finish his dish without any issues. His miso looked really flavorful, but he said his pork also didn't add a lot of taste to his ramen. The service was quick, and it was good, the location was not busy for it being a weekend. You have to ask for any chili oils, soy sauces, etc. if you wanted those on the side since our tables only had their drinking menus to browse while you waited. The price you pay for the bowl or ramen you receive is not bad, though. Maybe there are different broths I should try, but sadly for me, Ramen Tatsu is nothing I would run back to.

CHASIU BOWL (SMALL) with extra Chasiu

Looking for a ramen spot near downtown and landed on this page. Located in a very busy lot with China Mama, Urban Matcha, and karaoke bars, my only disappointment is always access. Its like a fight for any and every parking spot! Once in, the ambiance is very quiet and relaxed. There isn't a huge music or loudness quality which is nice compared to the other establishments around. The menu is nice and simple. I liked the mix of ramen and non ramen options. We opted for a rice bowl and a ramen. The Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen had a rich broth, but was a bit heavy on the shoyu for my preference. I wish it was more savory and not as light/sweet tasting. The chasui was a 180. This was a salt bomb. The flavor was good, but the salt was overpowering a bit. Even with the amount of rice, it was still a bit much. Ended up mixing in some of the soup and that helped. Overall it was good, but with so many ramen places in Vegas, it may just be a one time and done for now!

Got food to go last night and everything was packaged so carefully. All 3 ramens were delicious, and now it's even harder to choose what I want for next time! :P Ordering was easy through toast and I highly recommend this little Hole In the wall family owned establishment!

Ask the Community - Ramen Tatsu

    Do you have Hiyashi chyuka?

Yes, but only in the summer season. Usually from late May or early June until about early October. They have several different sauces, shoyu, yuzu, and sesame, and a spicy variant of each.

Do you take reservations or how to get on a waitlist?

They are taking reservations more than 5people

Which casino are you closer too? Are you close to Las Vegas strip?

We’re about 3 miles west of the strip near Spring Mountain and Jones Blvd. I guess the closest Casino would be Mirage, Palazzo, Wynn and also Fashion Show Mall since they’re all located on Spring Mountain/Las Vegas Blvd intersection

I tried to order takeout, is your number disconnected? It rings and then says this number is disconnected

Our phone works. We have been getting calls today. The number is 702-629-7777

Is there a non-pork base tsukemen available here?

    Yes:)

Hi. Is the curry made using any beef or beef broth?

Yes we do cook with beef. The broth is predominantly chicken, but it does include beef as well.

Do they have a spicy tonkatsu offering?

You can make any ramen spicy(additional charge), they also have chili oil available with the table condiments.

    Do Tatsu have vegan options?

Tatsu has some vegan options, such as a Veggie Ramen broth that is vegan.

    Do we need reservations?

    No reservations are not necessary.

Is there a vegetarian option? I saw that there's a "veggie" choice on the menu but a finger is covering the description. I mean strictly vegetarian - dairy is OK but no fish, chicken, pork, or beef broth/ingredients in the ramen. Thanks!

Hello. I’m sorry for the late response. We do have veggie ramen available.

    Any vegetarian ramen options?

Yep! And it's actually pretty good!

Do they use msg in their ramen?

We do put msg in our ramen, but you can ask for no msg... miso, spicy miso, and curry already have msg in them.

Fortunately, the wait was only about 10 minutes, which was surprisingly quick. I ordered the soft-shell crab, baked green mussels, and BBQ ribs with steamed rice. My son ordered the yoshu ramen and fried rice. The food came out fairly quickly, but I noticed that the baked mussels never arrived. When I asked our waitress about it, she said the kitchen was backed up. However, after waiting more than 30 minutes and already finishing the rest of our meal, it felt like the order may have simply been forgotten. What disappointed me most was the lack of an apology. The waitress even asked if I still wanted the mussels at that point. I was ready to cancel the order, but Kyo stepped in and tried to make things right. Thanks to his efforts, the mussels arrived about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, when the mussels finally arrived, I was disappointed again. They were prepared very differently from the baked green mussels I'm used to getting at restaurants in Los Angeles. They were quite spicy, which wasn't mentioned, and the flavor just wasn't what I expected. After waiting more than 40 minutes for them, they definitely weren't worth the wait. Overall, the food was decent, and the restaurant was busy and energetic, but the service mishap and the disappointing mussels left me with mixed feelings about the experience. I do appreciate Kyo's effort to make things right, as he was the one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating situation.

Upon arriving, I walked in and called again to see if the phone worked. It rang without an issue. I noticed the restaurant had four tables occupied. Two with food, two waiting for food one with dishes waiting to be cleared. One server on the floor. He greeted me. I let him know, I've been calling for twenty minutes. He apologized and responded with, "I'm the only one here". It's a small place so there isn't much running around. Although a lot can happen in twenty minutes, I don't think it was that busy he couldn't answer the phone. From being a former server, not taking a phone call is missed business I was taught. It doesn't take long to take an order by phone or at least answer and put the call on hold. The server told me to give him a couple minutes and he would be back to take my order. He dropped off to one of the tables waiting on their food and then took my order. Fifteen minutes later my food was brought to me. During that time, the server chatted with a guest for a few minutes before serving food to the last table waiting on theirs. That there was a prime example the server could've done something similar with a phone call coming in. There was no rush for him to clear the table that had dirty dishes on it so I didn't see the struggle he used when not answering my call for twenty minutes.
