You'll get plenty of options for tasty treats at prices slightly better than you'll see on the strip itself. Quality is in line if not better as well. We grabbed a reservation and at first figured we probably didn't need it, however, this place filled in fast. Get yourself a variety of skewers to start then roll into a main dish. For skewers, the scallops are my top recommendation, however, the lamp chop was tasty as well. I went with the beef meal dish. It came with a bunch of little plates, a salad, and soup. Also the Scallops yakitori skewers were delicious and Fried Softshell Crab and Grilled Shishito Peppers! Skip the Eggplant [1st on the menu] it was tough, spongey and inedible for us. We liked the vibe here. It was a fun experience. The service was nice, but the place wasn't as clean as we hoped it to be. They had flip flops laying all over the floor and trash that they didn't care to sweep up. The food itself was above average. There were a few items that were not good, but there were some that were great. I do think certain items were a bit overpriced for what it was. The octopus was a bit on the saltier side and the beef tataki was super sour. The grilled meats came out cold and a bit flavorless so we asked for more of the sauce on the side. We were looking for a late night spot to eat. I did a quick search online and Izakaya Go came up as a popular destination. We arrived for a late night dinner on a Thursday night recently. This Japanese spot is located in a nice plaza area close to Palms Casino, Rio Casino, and Chinatown. Parking is available in the medium size parking lot outside. The restaurant is moderate size but cozy. The traditional Japanese decor is inviting and gives off a family friendly local spot vibe. There are a lot of booths and tables available for dine in. Our party sat in a zataku where we had to take off our shoes. I thought that was a nice touch. We ordered a bunch of items from both the happy hour menu and regular menu. Everything was delicious and high quality. Some of the stand out dishes were the half ramens, salmon hand roll, spicy hand roll, fried oyster, caterpillar roll, and the CA rolls. Half ramens were so flavorful and such a good value. We enjoyed the sushi very much as they were very tasty and authentic. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Izakaya Go. Happy hour menu from 10:00pm to close is such a great value. The staff were so friendly, attentive, and accommodating. On my way to visit family in Las Vegas, we decided to stop here for dinner. We arrived on a Friday night around 10:30 PM, and the place was very busy. Fortunately, the wait was only about 10 minutes, which was surprisingly quick. I ordered the soft-shell crab, baked green mussels, and BBQ ribs with steamed rice. My son ordered the yoshu ramen and fried rice. The food came out fairly quickly, but I noticed that the baked mussels never arrived. When I asked our waitress about it, she said the kitchen was backed up. However, after waiting more than 30 minutes and already finishing the rest of our meal, it felt like the order may have simply been forgotten. What disappointed me most was the lack of an apology. The waitress even asked if I still wanted the mussels at that point. I was ready to cancel the order, but Kyo stepped in and tried to make things right. Thanks to his efforts, the mussels arrived about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, when the mussels finally arrived, I was disappointed again. They were prepared very differently from the baked green mussels I'm used to getting at restaurants in Los Angeles. They were quite spicy, which wasn't mentioned, and the flavor just wasn't what I expected. After waiting more than 40 minutes for them, they definitely weren't worth the wait. Overall, the food was decent, and the restaurant was busy and energetic, but the service mishap and the disappointing mussels left me with mixed feelings about the experience. I do appreciate Kyo's effort to make things right, as he was the one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating situation. read more

tl;dr: The uni pasta alone is worth coming back for. Izakaya Go initially felt like one of those non-Japanese-owned izakayas that try too hard, including staff yelling sloppy Japanese for effect. If you have to say you are Japanese you probably aren't, the way really great restaurants don't have to say they are rated the best. That said, the owner is actually Japanese lol! Also he did so well from the Vegas location that he even opened a second location in Little Tokyo in DTLA. Crazy to open up in Cali with all that red tape. The food felt authentic and reminded me of a mix between Kiraku in Berkeley and Ichiza on Spring Mountain. Most dishes were solid, but the yakitori was weaker than expected. The chicken breast with plum sauce was very dry, and we had to ask for yuzu kosho to make it edible. The table we were seated at was also wobbly. But remember that uni pasta? On point with the sauce not being overly creamy. Overall, I'd say go to Izakaya Go. Solid izakaya, and that uni pasta is the reason to return. read more

I thought it was OK like so so and then I ordered tempura dinner plate. The plate was huge and it consists of miso soup and then the tempura, shrimp and vegetables, and also some pickled vegetables. They were not bad at all, but my husband said that the shrimp tempura was a little soggy and the taste nothing special compared to other restaurants. It was very noisy tonight and there's not really a privacy with your conversation. Love that this place has a late night happy hour starting from 10 pm - closing, that's probably the only times I've been here as it's a perfect late night snack. They have a bunch of tvs showing all the sports game you can think of so this would be a great spot if you're wanting to eat, drink, and watch some games. Two of my favorite things here are the Chazuke w/spicy roe cod and the Bluefin Toro Roll. The Chazuke is so comforting, you really can't go wrong with rice and broth, and the toro here is super fresh! The half ramen is also a good deal for happy hour. But the dish that stuck with me was the tonkatsu dinner. The pork was juicy, the crust had that perfect crunch, and the portions were generous. It came with salad, gyoza, tofu, macaroni salad, daikon, and rice--such a well-rounded plate. The yaki soba was also a big hit at the table--lots of flavor and one of those dishes that disappeared quickly. Starters were on point too. The spicy tuna cracker was a hit for me, though the crispy rice leaned a little too hard. Still, the flavor carried it through. Service was excellent. I found this place on a popular review app that starts with a Y when I was in between events and found myself hungry. It was in a shopping center on the edge of Chinatown and the interior was cozy and warm. Since I was by myself, I was shown to the bar where I guess is the place for solitary folks. There were plenty of people having a good time in there already, some couples and some friendly looking groups. I started with some chicken yakitori, followed by mushroom, zucchini, and Unagi (eel). I wasn't a big fan of the chicken even though it was cooked properly. Most of the seasoning was the salt pepper and either the plum sauce or the wasabi sauce which had a tanginess to both I wasn't expecting. The vegetables were dry and I don't think they had any sauce or marinade on them that I could taste but the zucchini managed to keep some moisture. The eel was my favorite out of all the skewers and had a really good flavor. The Agadashi tofu was by far my favorite dish of the evening. It was warm and comforting and delicious and I ate the whole thing. The oysters were large and me and I enjoyed those as well. I would definitely return and try more things on the menu. I will likely order the tofu again and again and again. Since I couldn't stay very long because I had to go to another event, I was unable to try any of the drinks.
