    Mi-So-Spicy

10 out of 10, no notes. I really appreciate that they were able to explain the spice level is the Mi-So-Spicy as "sriracha level spicy" instead of just saying "oh it's like a 4 or 5". The servers were kind and the food came out fast. Excellent flavor balance and the guava saki based margarita was delightful! Clean bathrooms as well.

Rich and flavourful broth! Service and atmosphere: The staff members were friendly and helpful. The explained how their ramens are prepared and suggested most popular ramens to try. The restaurant is newly opened. It looks very clean and modern inside. It has good Japanese vibes. There are many seating areas. Food and drinks: They offer pork or chicken based broth. The pork one was super rich and flavourful. We opted for the spicy option which had perfect amount of spiciness. The wheat needle had great texture and absorbed broth flavours. The tea stained egg was delicious. You can opt for soft drinks or beer. Pricing: $$ - standard prices comparable to other ramen restaurants. Highly recommended.

Compared to the other Houston location, I prefer this Ramen Tatsu-Ya since parking is easier. Workers here are very friendly and attentive. Presentation looked ehh but karaage actually tasted great. Croquette was pretty good. The mi-so-hot ramen was not so hot. (Much spicier at the Austin location.) It was savory and still enjoyable though. Wouldn't mind returning to dine every now and then.

Very excited to have a Ramen spot in Memorial area finally. Great location, plenty of parking, love the smell of a new restaurant. Staff was super friendly and chill. You order in the front, sit down and wait for food. Enjoyed the deco, casual vibes, if you have back problems, bring a pillow, all the furniture, including seating is all wood. Food was just okay. Not alot of options, the Ramen wasn't bad but not quite good either. If I was craving Ramen, I'd go back, but only because it's so close to me.

I went to Ramen Tatsuya with my sister on a Saturday night. Since they're fairly new, it wasn't super busy, which was nice. I ordered the karaage, the Mi-so-not ramen, and a Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade. The ramen broth was really good on its own, and after adding a bit of chili paste for some extra heat, it was even better. The egg in the ramen was especially good -- definitely a standout. The karaage was decent, and the garlic mayo and chili oil added great flavor. The Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade was refreshing and not overly sweet. Overall, it's a solid ramen spot and a great addition to the area. I'd come back!

A solid place to get ramen around Houston. This place was better than I expected! The broth was very rich and flavorful. The noodle texture was on point. The service was spectacular too. Overall, I highly recommend and would come back.

Popular Ramen restaurant based out of Austin. This is their 2nd location in Houston. Located at W Beltway 8 just north of Memorial Dr. Nice decor and cool vibe. Parking can be challenging especially at peak hours. Ramen was excellent and tasted very fresh.

Food was good, quality was the same as original Austin locations, there was plenty of seating, and service was friendly & quick.

New to the area but not new to my heart. We originally came across Ramen-Tatsuya in Austin and are so pleased that we get to have it when we visit Houston! All locations are consistent with serving fabulously delicious dishes and the staff we encountered have been phenomenal. The ambiance of the restaurant is very open and you can see into the kitchen! Great place to try out for the first time or revisit for a comfort meal. You will not be disappointed!

Service was good but the food was not. Ramen was mediocre at best. For a Ramen place, it should be great. Had better at non ramen place.

I had a great experience at ramen Tatsu-ya. It was my first time here & I was very impressed…read more I ordered the "mi-so-hot" & it was amazing. First - the ramen came out super fast. I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

It was just okay. - Cooked Salmon x2 - I liked this a lot more than the raw salmon because it had a deeper flavor. - Scallops - Probably my favorite thing on this platter because of the smokiness they imbue with the torching. The sweet aftertaste was definitely worthwhile. - Shrimp - Not as fresh as I would have liked, as someone who's eaten a lot of shrimp, but I still liked the taste. Still, pretty mediocre. Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom. This is really a unique broth and I haven't had anything like it. You should definitely try it! Restaurant: clean, neat, every table literally has its place /orientation. Deep wood furniture, honeyed lighting, and dark window shades give the restaurant a cozy chic ambience despite visiting around noon. Good food, great service. Great prices. Large portions.

Very disappointing on this visit…read more Do NOT go here if you don't like to wait. The restaurant is very small, and unfortunately, they don't seem to manage their seating arrangements very well. Our party was 4 adults and 2 kids, ages 7 and 2. We weren't offered the option of splitting into two tables to accommodate us sooner, which we would have gladly done, especially with two young children. What made the wait even frustrating was watching a few parties of 4, along with parties of 3 and 2 who arrived after us, get seated before us. Our party could have been separated into two tables, but we weren't offered that option. When we asked about it, the waitress gave us an unpleasant look as we explained how long we had been waiting and said that we would have preferred the option to split our party rather than continue waiting. Her reaction made us feel uncomfortable for expressing a reasonable concern. We were also told they wanted to make their customers happy, but from our perspective, the seating process just didn't feel well organized. Service was also extremely slow. Between waiting for a table, waiting for our food, and dining, our total time there was about 2.5 HOURS. That's simply too long for a casual meal with two young kids. Customer service was nice during our first visit, but unfortunately, it seems to have diminished in a very short time. The food was okay, but not enough to make up for the overall experience. Cleanliness also needs attention. The restroom was not well kept and had a foul smell, which added to our disappointment. We were also charged an automatic 20% gratuity for our party of 4 adults and 2 children. I understand restaurants may have gratuity policies for certain party sizes, but considering the wait and level of service we experienced, it was disappointing. Our first visit was much better, which is why we returned. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to that first experience. Hopefully they improve their seating process, speed and consistency of service, and cleanliness.
