Bf and I visited for a date night dinner. We ordered the chashu buns, I got tonkotsu ramen and my partner got shrimp tempura udon. I really liked the pork buns. They were interesting and had character. My ramen was okay. I've had a lot of tonkotsu and this was pretty middle of the pack. Lots of toppings which was a plus. Slightly soggy noodles. Chashu had a good flame licked taste but wasn't very tender and was hard to bite. The whole soup tasted weirdly strongly of onion. Bf seemed to decently like his udon, but he noted that it was kind of strong, though he did finish it. Service and atmosphere were lovely and the ladies working were super attentive. Overall I'd pin the experience as average, and find I don't have much more to say about it. I'd try a different main course next time if I return. read more

My wife and I ordered the Spicy Seafood Ramen and the Tonkatsu. The ramen was decent, but it tasted like it had way too much seasoning or MSG. The biggest disappointment, however, was the tonkatsu. It was so tough that even homemade tonkatsu would have been better. The breading was separating from the meat, and the pork itself was dry, chewy, and difficult to eat. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good dining experience for us. We don't plan on coming back unless the quality improves. read more

I went there on a Friday night. The vibe is cute with many decorated paintings. Their soup base is surprisingly delicious for a local ramen shop. The soup base is hard to nail down even for a franchised ramen in my opinion and this restaurant surpass my expectations for it. It was balanced, not to salty and still keep the unami flavor of the ramen. Another plus is they gave out these free fried wonton sheets at the beginning. It gave me a little bit of Mexican restaurant's vibe (as serving nachos). Cons: if you order "spicy" option for your ramen, they just serve you with a chilli paste on side, which resembles gochujang flavor (maybe it is gochujang!!). Its not the spice that I would expect in ramen. Additionally, their eggs are overcooked and under-seasoned for a ramen dish. The service is fast, friendly and attentive. read more

Wanted ramen and found this nearby. The food was good, although not quite excellent enough for a 5-star rating. Ordered the Tokantsu ramen and the flavors were pretty authentic and the portion sizes were satisfying, making it worth checking out. What really caught my attention when we walked in was the exceptional staff. They were super nice and greeted everyone with big smiles, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is also nice. Not too overdone and has somewhat of a modern feel to it with the authenticity of the cuisine. Hidden Gem!!! I was expecting an order-at-the-counter experience, but was pleasantly surprised to be seated and have service at the table! The food was excellent. The inside of the restaurant is small, but very casual/cute (think Naruto on the wall, 2000's pop music, bamboo, etc). The service was great, and they seemed very happy for our service. I'd actually been here before and don't remember what I ordered, but I returned recently and got the spicy tonkotsu with karaage and my goodness! Yes, I omitted a LOT of things, but I was allowed to sub both garlic and onion flakes instead, and it was perfect. Definitely a major difference from my first visit. Yall, I want to go back today! What a cute little hidden gem in Frisco! Ramen Wahta was a very tasty surprise. I ordered for myself, daughter, and mom for a take out order. I got the chasiu Bao bun, cucumber salad, and the tonkotsu ramen. For my daughter, she got the mango boba, chicken ramen, and takoyaki. For my mom, I got her the veggie ramen with veggie broth. Everything was absolutely delicious! Chasiu bun was delicious as was the cucumber salad. My ramen was hearty and tasty. My daughter enjoyed all of her food especially the takoyaki and boba. I have been here a couple times and think it's just OK. The broth isn't very rich and a little on the salty side. The best thing about it is that it's in a convenient location. Better ramen chains are popping up down in plano and I think ramen wahta is successful at this point because it's further north than the better ramen options. I have had their chicken karrage and karrage appetizers and again, nothing special but it was decent and satisfied my craving. I probably won't be back as I now prefer marufuku over ramen wahta as they seem to have a more consistent "4 star" experience for me. read more

I normally go to another spot, but wanted to try another ramen place to expand my options. It's cold and soup season, so ramen fit the bill tonight. I went with 3 tonakatsu ramen bowls and tried the squid pancake. Immediately, I was impressed with the spread in each ramen bowl: the wood ear fungus, bamboo shoots, fried onions, scallions, egg, and tonkatsu all with the thinner ramen noodle that I prefer. The broth was the white, milky broth that you'd come to expect. When put all together, it was umami! The pancake was also what I am accustomed to eating also. It must be a local favorite because it was busy with not a table available. It does have the feel of a Japanese restaurant in Japan, nicely lit, clean. Located in a industrial strip center, Ramen Wahta is inexpensive, delicious, clean, and the staff treat you like family. The katsu had a crunch that is audible and tactile with your teeth and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. Chef said it was GLUTEN FREE as well! The rice was sticky and warm with furukaki cooked to a perfection. Even the orange slices were cold and sweet. The CURRY RAMEN had that traditional homestyle Japanese curry flavor. From this little detail I could tell that they put a lot of effort in high quality ingredients on all their dishes. Came here for my lunch break with the beloved. Everything was delicious! The pork tonkatsu my boyfriend ordered was bigger than we both expected,but was perfectly fried and crunchy! It was perfect thickness for the meat and was not over breaded. My Tonkotsu ramen was rich and flavorful and I added extra black mushrooms. But normally ramen that i havd eaten has a soft boiled egg? The one inside mine was harder boiled so I didn't get that creamy texture and was missing it. Other than that,everything was fine! From your shoyu, spicy miso, kimchi, seafood, and vegan options! If you aren't feeling like noodle soup, there are great appetizers, rice bowls, and even Chasu buns! I was feeling like having seafood so of course got the seafood ramen bowl. It's HUGE. You get two large green mussels, 2 shrimp, bunch of little scallops, mushrooms, sprouts, and lots of noodle. I can not begin to explain to you how much I love this place! I've been coming for the past 3 years and the food quality is always top notch along with the nicest owner you'll ever meet! Lea cares deeply about the food she creates and the customers that come to try it! One of the very first times I came in and met her I came in with my 6 month old nephew and he had started to get a little fussy. Lea came out with a toy Mickey Mouse and saved the day. Fast forward 2 years later, he's almost 3 and she still remembered that encounter after not seeing him for that time span. Now let's talk about the food! My go to is always the Korroke for a starter and their Tonkotsu Ramen. Honestly though I'd say I've had over half the menu at this point and nothing has disappointed me. Ohhhh man did I love their ramen here! My husband and I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the spicy tonkotsu ramen for take-out. The order was very quick to process (about 20 minutes) and by the time we got it home (about a 30 min drive), it was still pretty hot! The vegetables, chashu, and broth were such a delight. I want to note that their noodles were a bit subpar to me but, I don't know about you guys, the noodles aren't typically the star of the show for me! I thought that their chashu was pretty good qualtiy - I wish we got more! and their broth was very decadent (it was so, so rich). Was craving ramen, rode over to Frisco to try Wahta Ramen. Totally worth the drive. Started with Chasu buns and gyoza. Both were excellent. We gobbled them up before I could grab a picture. I had tonkatsu ramen. This was so good and is the closest to what I had as a kid in Hawaii and Japan. It was spot on for the broth and not over salted like a lot of places. This place was exciting. It's kind of hidden so you won't find it unless you really want good ramen. The decor is that of an old Japanese alley ramen shop and is very fun inside. Very clean and plenty of parking nearby. There was no wait. I had someone who never ate Japanese dishes with me and they too loved everything. The onigiri was not traditional but very savory and very unique we had the chasu and tempura. We tried the udon and the ramen. I feel I was a bit rushed but really they were just efficient. I was born and raised in Kyushu area in Japan where Tonkotsu ramen is originally from. I'm so sorry but it was so hard for us to finish this ramen. Seems like Korean owned. We put lots white pepper and the spicy paste so that we don't taste the soup. The other reviewers rated so high so possibly something was wrong just for this time but not going back again. I kind of walked in here by accident. It happened to be right next to the UPS i needed to go into. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and Gyoza. The gyoza was not very good i wouldnt recommend. Ramen was pretty good. The noodles had great texture to it, chashu had good flavor but too thin, ramen was a good portion size hut didnt have the depth of pork flavor I am accustomed to (this is a preference). They gave me a little spicy sauce for the ramen which was ok wanted something a little more. Overall it was a good experience. The server was very nice and attentive. She gave me enough space but watched carefully so she knew when I needed her. The ambiance was good and very fast service. Ordered takeout on a Saturday night and the food was ready when I got there! It took 15 min to get home and the broth for my shrimp tempura udon was still nice and warm--no need to microwave. I'm always impressed by how generous they are with the toppings. There's no shortage of tofu and tofu puffs which makes for a filling meal. I also love that they gave me tempura sauce on the side without me having to ask. My husband tried the chashudon which also had a generous amount of meat, but was unfortunately on the drier side.
