Never again. My husband is in the hospital so as a treat I picked up food from here to go. I had read the reviews so thought I'd give it a try. Service was pleasant and brought me my order right away. Obviously they did not bother to insure it was correct. I got to the hospital and half my order was missing. I called and he said he saw me drive away but didn't bother to flag me down. I had to drive back and pick up the rest of my order. He didn't even offer to refund me, and I had to insist on a fresh plate. By the time I got back to the hospital the part they had given me was cold, greasy and inedible. The ice cream part of the desert was completely melted. I had to insist they refund me as we were not even able to enjoy or eat the food. There's plenty of Tex-Mex around, but this place has some real Mexican food as well. It's uncommonly good, and definitely worth trying out. We've eaten here perhaps 5-7 times, and haven't been disappointed yet. read more

I didn't realize I was picky about Mexican food until I started trying new places around Conroe. Rana's wasn't specifically bad, but I've definitely had better. The server was new and didn't seem to know the menu at all. We ordered ceviche, Enchiladas Mexicanas, and a burrito. The ceviche was pretty good - slightly metallic tasting from the metal bowl it was served in. The primary favor on the enchilada plate was salt. Not much in the way of onion, cilantro, tomato, garlic, peppers, or cumin. Just lots of salt. What tomatoes there were were under-ripe and flavorless. No complaints on the burrito - the tortillas are very fresh and tasty. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience but Rana's will not be my new favorite. read more

Very disappointed. Way over priced for very bland food. Salsa and chips weren't bad. Salsa was hot, which I like abs service was pretty good I was disappointed in what I ordered. Carna fajitas on corn tortillas. I'll chalk it up to just a bad choice but then we ordered some queso for the table. A small Oder that was Way over loaded with onions and chives. Would you like some cheese with the onions please. What was shocking was the price. $8.95 for a super small bowl. Glad we didn't order the large. When check came we were charged an Admin fee? What was that. Bill was almost $60 for one adult meal plus two kids meals. I will not be going back next time I'm in town. read more

Charming family-style restaurant, portions are nice - plenty of food but not oversized (and not overpriced!). I had the Enchiladas Verdes with chicken - the sauce is "zingy" but I like it that way, and the cheese and sour cream add a nice balance. Chicken was tender and not over cooked. This was our 1st visit and very happy to find a good Mexican restaurant in Conroe west of 45. We had the Fajitas Tequila, tacos Al carbon (beef & chicken) and the kids chicken soft taco. What a lovely place. It's small and there's nothing truly fancy about the decor. The ladies that work there are attentive, kind, and make the experience wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious and the prices are very reasonable. We had enchiladas de mole, fajita burrito and enchiladas de verde. All were excellent. The salsa is made with roasted tomatoes and peppers which makes a deep, flavorful taste. The large queso was a little on the small side but it too was delicious. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas that were tasty and strong . We will definitely be back to enjoy this little gem of a place! read more

Awesome!! We stopped here on our way home Arlington and couldn't have had a better experience. The mini tacos were awesome. I ordered the pastor meat, as I do everywhere that I eat tacos that serves it, and it was the best I've had in a very long time. After talking to Carlos , I found out it is actually tacos de trompo. Which is cooked on a turning roaster. My wife had 2 enchiladas that were amazing and the frijoles charros were also good. I tried a michelada and the mix was obviously home made and great flavor. Ok so let's start at this as soon as I walked in the door a worker was exited and enthousatic to greet and seat me. My family of 5 was seated immediately. SNAP! People, this is my 2020 Conroe Hidden Diamond! I don't even have such a list but after my first visit Rana's Mexican Restaurant, I have started one. It's tucked away in a tiny shopping strip so it's easy to miss. Heck, I've seen it several times and kept rolling because there are so many that nothing stands out. Rana's caught my attention via Yelp reviews, a freaking 4.5 stars with over a 100 total ratings. #Beast Start with the chips and salsa. It tastes authentic as heck, wasn't runny, mild kick, served HOT. I told my wife right away, like on chip #6, 'Lookahea. I gotta good feeling about this joint so gon grab some guacamole too'. The guacamole was even better than the salsa, thick, chunky tomatoes, seasoned well. My wife and I both knocked on wood because everything was tasting so good, servers were around-but-not-too-much-around. We ordered Jumbo Margaritas, frozen and on the rocks. It was a toss up on which was stronger. The Mrs. went with chicken fajitas and she liked them. I grabbed a Fajita Salad with shrimp. It was AWESOME SAUCE. I'm picky about Mexican/Tex Mex food...raised in Houston - just for a baseline. Finally made it to Rana's and we were so pleasantly surprised. I would always rather patronize a local business, and this is owned by a local family and they are the servers and those whose faces you will see in the restaurant. Everything from the salsa with the starter chips to the margarita to the pastor quesadilla and posole- it was all awesome. Beat out El Bosque, Mama Juanita's, Margarita's, Margarita & Peppers, El Sombrero -- by a long shot.
