We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant with the excellent reviews on Yelp. Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment. I had the beef fajitas. They were very dry and over cooked. The tortillas were hard. The service was poor and they didn't bring us soda that was requested. We will not be back. There were four of us and none of us enjoyed the food. There were only three other tables in use, so it wasn't too busy for decent service. read more

We brought our out of town family to Ranas for lunch and we all loved it so much we went back for dinner. The salsa was delicious and you could actually see the avocados in the guacamole. I highly recommend Ranas if you're looking for freshly prepared food that isn't a chain. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The food is excellent as are the prices. We had some beef fajitas pika, they were not to spicy but just right, so delicious. My family came in on a Friday around 7pm. and right after we got there a group of regulars came in and sat right next to us. The place was kind of empty, they were LOUD & ready to party. My boyfriend and I went last night for dinner. He ordered the beef fajitas and I had the vegetable enchiladas. My meal was okay, I took most of it home.; I also ordered a margarita. It was just your normal drink nothing special about it. The boyfriend ate all his food, he wanted grilled veggies on the side instead of rice and beans. The veggies were nothing to write home about. He woke up this morning feeling sick as a dog and has been throwing up chunks of food from his meal last night. Also how does a Mexican restaurant not have draft beer??? In Conroe for a work trip. There are dozens of Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants in the Conroe area...and this one is very unassuming in a plain-Jane strip mall. But do not let this fool you...the food was simply fantastic! Queso was delicious, the guacamole was thick, chunky and full of flavor. Fajita beef was very tender and not stringy. Although there is no sit-down bar, the drinks were ample and the margaritas were near perfect. The owner chatted with us a bit and it was clear that this is a family-run business. Many of the customers appeared to be local regulars and it was easy to see why. Just cannot say enough good things about this place...kind of wish I lived here now! read more

Rana's is a great small place that remembers you from one visit to the next. They have fantastic soup - some even off the menu. We also love their chunky guacamole and the breakfast tacos that you can get in the mornings even before the are officially open. Very affordable and very nice service. This place is really the "Cheers" of tex-mex restaurants in the Conroe area. read more

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. They are the first restaurant I have found that does the Pastor tacos the right way and has pineapple in it. If you ask for green sauce it is delicious and comes in a squirt bottle. read more

This might be the best Mexican in Conroe. I have eaten here several times and haven't had a bad thing yet. The mixed fajita lunch special was enough food for two and a fraction of the cost I paid at a new Mexican place in The Woodlands and tasted far better. Rana's nachos are delicious.
