We didn't golf today but we did enjoy the views, the weather, the food and drinks! We sat outside and could watch players at the 9th hole while we sipped on our cocktails. Ryan was our server and was extremely pleasant! I had the lemon strawberry drink, my sister had the prickly pear margarita, my brother had the spicy margarita. For dinner we ordered a burger with onion rings and the arugula pizza with Italian sausage and chicken. Chefs kiss on both! Unfortunately, there is the same chef as my last review, but the quality has slipped. And, there is a lot of inconsistency in the food. Never mind the presentation is awful. I order a chicken dish and it was literally the classic rubber chicken. I couldn't chew it! They had a new item on the menu. You could now order spicy steak fries for an extra dollar. They served us the regular thin fries you get, but had sprinkles them with a spicy powder. Steak fries are supposed to be cut into wedges. We paid an extra dollar for a sprinkle of a dry seasoning?!? Twice the hostess sat us at a table that was cleared but not cleaned. I looked around and all the tables around us were in the same condition. Another time the table was clean, but the chairs were full of crumbs. The lack of training of the staff is very obvious. For a really nice dining venue they really need to get their act together. It is open to the public, but I would never drive all the way here from the Tucson area. It's sad because the view and ambience is wonderful. read more

I haven't had anything at the Ranch House that I haven't liked. The atmosphere is upscale, but not the prices. The specials are always worth a try, and there are always pizza and burger specials. The view of the mountains out the back are wonderful. Make sure to get a reservation on the weekends. The Ranch House carries its own line of regular and rotating taps all brewed in house and is nestled within the Saddlebrooke Ranch gated community. Service is always friendly. read more

I live in a nearby Robson Senior Community and have reciprocative rights to enjoy the Saddlebrooke Ranch Amenities. I have to keep coming to this restaurant once a year as a reminder to go elsewhere. Same old story, arrived at 1:30 PM for to seat myself at the bar and order lunch. The two bartenders are pre-occupied at the other end of the bar with a long line of golfers presenting food coupons to one bartender while ordering drinks from the other bartender. The food tonight served lukewarm at most. The asparagus I ordered was less than lukewarm warm. The order replacement was pretty good, warmer, but it lacked flavor, not enough good spices and herbs. Service was okay, at best, but lacking, I think servers spread to thin, maybe. We had to wait a really long time to get a server, water, drinks and then order our food. We were there over two hours waiting to be set up and served, and the food was poorly cooked, setup and served. My previous rating is no longer valid. read more

Service was absolutely fantastic but the food could use a little improvement. The atmosphere is really nice as well, my table was in the "living room" I think they called it and it's definitely a nice and comfy living room vibe. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese combo because my stomach wasn't feeling so great and the soup was good, however I didn't like the texture and taste of the chicken. The person I came with also ordered the chicken and rice plate and didn't like the chicken either. The cocktail options were great and our server Kayla helped me customize mine to something I'd like. We found The Ranch House because there aren't many dining options in the area. We stopped by the first time on our way home from Church. The service is EXCELLENT. Each server truly cares about your experience and ensures that you are happy with your meal. A manager usually checks in at some point too. The food is delicious. My favorites are the fish and chips, pizza and caesar salad with grilled salmon. Their prices are very reasonable. We stopped by last Sunday and they were offering happy hour. I had their beer cheese nachos and an Absolut Lemonade. All for $10. The Manfolk had the salad with salmon. It's a beautiful restaurant, with great views and high ceilings. Talk about a hidden gem! Don't be fooled by its location within a retirement community, this restaurant/brewery is a total standout and if this is how retirees eat, then sign me up to age quickly! Surprisingly, there weren't many senior citizens eating at the restaurant as I had anticipated but a younger crowd..the style is unexpectedly very modern. The in-house beer is excellent, definitely try the Ranch IPA. The setting is lovely, especially if you sit on the patio. The wait staff has always been polite and efficient. The food is inconsistent, one week a dinner order is good and the second week it is poor. I had one of the worst ribeye steaks ever there, tough and greasy. Even something as simple as a pizza, the same order looks different week to week. The inconsistency in terms of quality is a significant discouragement. read more

First time visit last week...we ordered the calamari appetizer, chicken piccata, chicken alfredo, and seared pork loin. All vegetables were fresh, meats well prepared, and plates looked beautiful. Overall the dishes were less salty, less rich, and much less heavy than most restaurants, but given the retirement community clientele, this is probably what the residents prefer. However, it's great if you're tired of the ultra-heavy, emulsified, salty, cookie-cutter mainstream chain restaurants. The beers are by far the hidden gem. The Ranch Hand IPA is absolutely amazing and on par with some of the best. The beer tasting flight is HUGE and alone is worth the drive. Beautiful place, friendly staff. read more

In for lunch with another couple today who insisted we go for the wings. Well we ordered 24 of the "crispy" buffalo wings and salads. Bottom line - the wings (all of them) were undercooked, mushy and lacked flavor. I should have sent them back but did not (my regret really......). Took a lot of leftovers home and baked for 13 minutes followed by a brief broil. Better but still not much flavor. Just glad the undercooked chicken did not make us sick. First time to the Ranch House, and the decor and beauty of the restaurant is very warm and welcoming. Even without a reservation we were sat and our Chicken wing appetizer was legit some incredibly tasty wings. The spicy calamari was not truly spicy but was ok in my opinion. Note I have had calamari in some very exotic locations literally around the world so my taste buds are a bit picky. Now the kids menu had a very filling and tasty burger according to my bougie 6 year old and the vegetables on the side were very flavorful and satisfying. The two entrees we had were very well presented and my beef tenderloin served over mashed potatoes was very good and prepared to a nice medium rare. Our server Ashley was fantastic and answered every question we had upon our arrival and through the meal. She recommended getting it medium temperature and it would most likely arrive as medium rare and she was spot on. For me it was a perfect temp as I enjoy medium rare. Taste was good and the other entree was a Ahi-Pokey stack and it was a beautiful presentation and very well balanced with a garnish that highlighted the flavors. All in all service was solid and as everyone knows I never give 5 stars on a first visit until I know a place is consistent but I can't imagine this isn't consistently a five star place to dine. Beer taster size for a flight is more than generous. The onion rings appetizer plate is plentiful and, I think, probably the tastiest I've had in a long time anywhere. The batter seasoning is great. The fish and chips will fill you up so there's no need to ask for extra. The coleslaw was a good compliment, not too much cream sauce with just the right crunch. Be careful, the fresh bread and butter that comes out first will fill you up. We recommend the steak salad if you can't decide. It came out a perfect, medium rare. Our food experience matched our unhindered, fantastic view of the Catalina mountains. read more
