From all all the other reviews I was hesitant to come in for lunch but decided to give it a try. Once here I was glad I did it's a bit off the beaten path but clean cute place. The menu is classic diner food. I was on the fence weather to order breakfast or lunch but it was too hot to go with the biscuits and gravy. The waitress was able to have turkey added to the BLT and it was very yummy. My lunch companion ordered the special which was the ranch burger basically a bacon cheeseburger. She cleaned the plate accept for maybe 2 bites. I will definitely come back to try the breakfast options as well. read more

I used to drive past it all the time and honestly didnt know it was a food spot, my brother one time told me lets go have the best chilaquiles you ever tasted and honestly I only say that when we go to mexico cause there is no spot that serves the way i would give it a 10 and this place is a very good 8 the rest of the food is awesome the chilaquiles are great too but im giving it an 8 just cause how picky i am but honestly anyone can probably give them a 10. Portions are great, flavor is perfect, staff is SO friendly, seating is good cause the spot is so small. I totally recommend this place you wont be dissapointed. Good morning, went to ranch kitchen today. Used to be a good place to go. New ownership took over ruined the whole place. Ordered some chilaquillas with rice and beans. I asked waitress what kind of cheese they use. She said Jack or cheddar I said Jack. Love Jack Make it extra spicy. She said thank you. Food was set on table 15 minutes later with Mexican cheese. Not one bite was taken food on table less than 5 seconds. Told her to remove plate due to I can't stand Mexican cheese. You said Jack. Well that's the kind of Jack we use. She said why don't want that plate. I will order something different. Picked up menu. Got a basic American food sausage and eggs. Hash browns coffee got my check. Didn't receive it. Asked her where's my receipt. It will be emailed to you or text you into the 3 hours. Here's my credit card I gave her. She charged me $52.49. she charged me for those chilaquillas plate that I didn't even touch by her mistake giving me wrong cheese. I will pay for my breakfast that I ordered. Not for a mistake that she made. She said we can't adjust it because all the restaurants are doing in town. I called her back said to speak to the owner. She said I am the owner's daughter. I said you need to adjust my credit card bill. I will not do that. She stated you will pay the full amount. Now you get nothing. I told her I called my credit company. What's in your wallet? Capital One told him went went on. Sorry sir for the convenience. You are a good customer of ours loyal for 10 years. We will erase that from your charge and charge back to the restaurant. This place is getting 5 stars simply because of the homeade Patty sausages..at least that's what my hunny would tell you! He raves about it every time we go. This adorable little kitchen sized restaurant is not too well known but has been in woodland for years and years. It doesn't hold many people but we've also never had to wait for a table. They have the best country gravy I've had in a long time (second only to my late grandfather's). The classic situation where a dive type place seems to have the best food. We stopped mid-late morning, and we're trying to decide between breakfast or lunch, or Mexican dishes. Out handsome young, friendly waiter recommend the breakfast, as they were really good. My wife had a vegetarian omelet, and ranch potatoes (small red potatoes cubed and deep fried). Excellent. I gad two eggs over easy, hand patted sausage patties, restaurant made hash browns, and biscuits and gravy ( home made, a smooth gravy, with wonderful bacon flavor. Excellent. This is going to be a simple review, as that this is a pretty simple place. It's a trucker restaurant, that serves traditional trucker breakfast/lunch at a low price. If you're low on cash, get a grilled cheese and fries. If you have a little more, consider the steak & eggs. I caution, though, against the chicken-fried steak, which they still haven't quite got down right as of yet. This is a cash-only, joint. If you don't have the funds, there's an ATM in the convenience store next door (who charge an arm & leg on service fees). If you're in the area, and need to re-fuel, I recommend stopping here. I highly recommend stopping in to have a bite at this homey family run restaurant. My husband and I lived in Woodland Ca 29 years ago and came back to visit the areas we used to frequent. The Ranch Kitchen was one such place. Nowadays the Ranch Kitchen has new owners. They are doing great. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. New owners as of 2 months ago. So I feel reviews prior to that are kind of invalid. My wife and I stopped here for breakfast just now, service was a little slow it feels like the new owners are family that are working together and are still trying to get their bearings. I had pancake hash browns bacon scrambled eggs. It's all pretty standard tasted fresh. I was afraid the pancakes were going to be something out of a box mix but they tasted homemade and they were fresh. My wife got linguica and eggs and hash browns and sourdough toast. She said her sourdough toast taste a little stale but everything else was good. The family owners are very friendly and it looks like they're trying to keep the Integrity of this place, rather than changing it into something else. This is a locals kinda spot. Absolute first thing I noticed upon walking in. A table of bikers and other woodlanders filled a few of the tables. This is really a dive type diner. Came with the family starving for breakfast because the Elephant Shack was oddly closed on a Saturday morning. Hubs and the kids liked their food but I didn't. I'll get to that in a minute. Super friendly staff! Cute kitschy decor and pretty small but there are counter stools too. You aren't getting anything fancy here. But I liked that they had an array of hot sauces. I got the half order of biscuits and gravy with potatoes. I'm not an egg eater so I was pleasantly surprised to see that they don't automatically come with each entree. My food was disappointing. I liked the texture of the biscuit. Not too dense or hard but the gravy was really terrible. If you cook your own gravy then you can tell the gravy was made from drippins but it was greasy, super bland and didn't have a good texture to it at all. The potatoes are deep fried chunks of potato. No peppers or onions. Just cut up potatoes deep fried. I should have tried the hash browns instead. The bacon tasted strange too. Mostly all greasy fat.. Too simple and bland for my taste. Hubs liked his 3-meat omelet and the kids liked their eggs toast & pancake but you really can't mess that up too much. Syrup came in a squeeze bottle and was obviously the fake high fructose corn syrup stuff. Maybe I'm just a snob when it comes to wanting fresh decent quality food! I won't come back cuz I just didn't like it. That's not to say that you won't tho! If you like just a basic diner breakfast then try this spot! Prices are super reasonable! read more

Went today to get some breakfast. This was my first time at this restaurant. I thought the food and service were top notch. My only complaint was they wouldn't give me a physical paper receipt. They would only EMAIL or text me a receipt. I thought that was pretty silly. Strong 4. Flavorful and a good size for $7.99. I had an English muffin with egg, sausage and American cheese. It was okay. A 2.5-3. Too much cheese. May be someone else's thing but not mine. The sausage was handmade shaped so more fresh but it was dry and the cheese just overwhelmed the whole thing. The yolk cooked absolutely solid. The sausage was curled from cooking for so long. It was like jerky. I suspect the potatoes were deep fried, or something. I love a great dive restaurant and yes this is a dive but in a good way, for as old as it is it looked clean, bathrooms were clean " that was the wife". The booth was comfortable and the coffee was hot. We both ordered the chilaquiles hers were plain and I added a sausage patty and they chopped it up and mixed it in, it had just the right amount of sauce and crispy ness, staple rice and beans over all I would eat there again when in area. Hubby's scrambled eggs were excellent....fluffy but thoroughly cooked. We both had pancakes.....done right.....chewy but still fluffy. Server was a sweet girl full of smiles even though it was busy. Stopped here on our way home From Tahoe. Don't let the "hole in the wall" exterior scare you. The unassuming building is located in an agricultural industrial area next to a tire shop but the food makes up for the lackluster exterior. Based on other reviews I ordered the Chilaquiles and was not disappointed. The sauce was flavorful and spicy and the chips infused with flavor from the sauce with a nice crunch. My husband had Huevos Rancheros, which was not on the menu but they made it for him anyway. He seemed to enjoy it, his plate completely empty was a good indication. The staff were pleasant and hardworking. It looked like a family business with the parents working the kitchen and the children taking orders and serving food.
