Went after lockdown eased and was surprised to see traditional menus against ordinance. While irked, I was in a business lunch and shrugged it off. The food was off in flavor and wasn't very hot and most of the side dishes were bland. The service was subpar and the individual waiting on us even complained about working there and noticed our company logo and decided to give us an unprompted and unwanted round of questions and inquiring about being hired. It really is worth the effort to drive to Nuevo Vallarta in Pullman or better yet, La Casa Lopez in Moscow. read more

Restaurant food is pretty standard Mexican fare nothing special, lots of nice booths to sit at though. The bar in the evening has tasty selection of special margaritas at good prices but a bit weak. read more

Honestly the food is okay & the drinks are great. However the service was SO slow. We sat downstairs in the bar and weren't even greeted for over 15 minutes. No water nothing. Then we had to keep asking for the same things multiple times before we got it. I don't think it was our waiters fault he was nice but only 2 people were working and it was decently busy. Over all I think next time I'll just make the drive to la casa it's better food and service. Don't necessarily think it's the staffs fault, management could probably be better. read more

The worst mexican food I ever ate! Old commercial subpar taco shell, and gawd awful taco. I took two bites and tossed it.(too bad this was take-out otherwise I would ask for my money back!). The salsa was crappy, again served with junk chips from a cheap vender. The beans were awful. I also had a few bites of it and tossed it out as well. But even the little i had i got the runs from it! The food was ok. No refills on Horchata (rice water) even though it tasted like it was just made from horchata mix (not authentic rice and cinnamon). Service was ok until waiter started cussing in spanish. My boyfriend ordered a refill on his Coke with no ice and she starts bad mouthing him in spanish not knowing that I know spanish too. She later came back out with the soda and I let her know I knew spanish and she kind of tried to play nice but I wasn't buying it. Atmosphere is very festive, wait staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. I gave it a four star rating though because the server pushed for us to buy alcoholic beverages. As my husband and I don't mind a drink every now and again, we were out with my husbands Mormon parents. Granted, wait staff isn't a bunch of mind readers and shouldn't be expected to do so... I worked a long day. I'm beat. Took my shoes of and plopped down in my room...hungry. I can't bear the thought of going out. Traveling for work and staying in a hotel is new for me. I open up Yelp and select delivery options near me. A familiar favorite pops up...hmm...they deliver? The app is very simple, the menu has a full selection of entrees, the delivery fee is spendy ($4.99)...but I'm tired. I order. I pre-tip. Then, I wait. Forty-five minutes, an hour...maybe normal. I keep talking myself out of calling. I'm getting hangry! After a little over an hour, I call. It's just been sent out for delivery! Yippee! From order to delivery - exactly an hour and a half. I'd say delivery might not be your best option. Food was mediocre after sitting that long. Next time, I'll get my big girl pants on and go out for dinner... read more

Zach and I grabbed lunch here a few weeks ago and were pretty pleased with the experience. The salsa was okay but almost too spicy so that you couldn't really taste it. The chips were good, though. We got lunch-sized portions and I thought it was perfect but it wasn't quite enough for Zach. We are smaller people, so I definitely think that a large guy would need twice as much food to be satisfied. My only real complaint is that the restaurant seemed dusty. We were sitting near the window and it was really sunny outside, so we could see dust floating in the air. read more

Our first time here - the place was empty at 12p on a Sunday afternoon. Service was fast and friendly. Carne Asada was seasoned nicely, the rice and beans were good as well. The red sauce for the enchiladas had a sweet flavor, not like tomato sweet, but like sugar sweet. I think I prefer a more chile/peppery red sauce, but the generous amounts of cheese made up for the sweetness I didn't care for. The decor is very traditional, just like you'd find in Southern CA where we are from. We're undecided if we like this place more or less than La Casa Lopez in Moscow ID, but it's very convenient to get to where we are staying in Pullman. read more

I scheduled a lunch meeting for 15-16 people, at 11:45 on Friday at Rancho, and I am happy to report that the service was excellent, the food was hot, fast, and fresh, and special requests were accommodated graciously and without error. We were provided with plenty of fresh chips and salsa, and our water pitchers were refilled promptly. This is a great place to have a lunch meeting. Very reasonable prices make it affordable for everyone and the efficient service allows you to keep to a tight time frame. Be sure to call ahead a day or two in advance, ask for the "side room" for meetings, and speak to Pedro. (It also doesn't hurt to check back early on the day of your event) There is a bigger room downstairs that they might be persuaded to open for larger gatherings. Rancho is a great place to try if your group is looking for a change from the other usual meeting places. We had a great experience and we will be back. Thank you, Rancho! read more

I've been here a handful of times and the restaurant always lacks service. The menu is huge so it takes forever to decide but the servers make you feel rushed. The food is hit or miss, I ordered nachos (a simple basic order) and it lacked. However we've ordered nachos in the bar and they were great. The bar has a smaller menu and great service though! sure, i'll have mexican food tonight. my friend is moving in across the street, and i've been helping her with little projects. this was the first time we went to rancho viejo for dinner, but i doubt the last. first, decor: it's spot on! i could only see my friends at the table and people walking by. perfect. i didn't have to stare at other people while eating. food: A-ok. not bad at all. the salsa is fantastic. finally, someone dared to serve something spicy and not from a jar. i tried the chicken and mushroom thingy with the sour cream base sauce. i forgot what it's called. i always ask the server what their favorite thing on the menu is. our server whimsically replied, "everything". wow, you sold me. then he recommended this dish. it was okay. nothing special. the cream sauce sort drowned out the flavor of the chicken. it came with tortillas, three of them. yes, just three. i like to make small little burrito sized tortilla things, cause i'm weird like that. so, three tilla's was not enough for the dish. drinks: i've always wanted to try a singapore sling (thank you, tom waits), so i tried one here, "rancho style!". honestly, it tasted like k-mart. really, try it, you'll understand what i mean. it was good, but totally reminded me of tube socks for 99 cents, and blue light specials. overall, nice. i can dig it. not the best i've had, but it'll do for dusty old pullman. read more

I have visited rancho several times and never had a good experience. From slow service, getting the wrong entree, forgotten drinks you name it. You only get 3 or 4 tortillas with fajitas and they charge you for extra. The one good thing i can say is that they are reasonable at accommodating larger groups. Took my freshman son to dinner and thoroughly enjoyed this place. He had the Carne Assada and I the beef fajitas and both were excellent. Service was attentive, portions were generous and the price point was in line with what one would expect in a college town. After having the worst hamburger in my entire 58 years at the local brew pub during a previous visit (hint-it's housed in the old Post Office), I would return to this Mexican food restaurant in a nano-second.
