I went to Randy's diner for brunch, and it was so amazing. It is a seat yourself setting, with both booths and tables to choose from. The seating is a little cramped, but the service and food make up for it- hands down. I ordered their biscuits and gravy, and my friend ordered the French toast. Both were very good! Best biscuits and gravy that I have ever had; the French toast was amazing, would have been better with real maple syrup though! The waitstaff were very personable. I went into Randys Diner the other day because I saw on facebook that they now have Gluten Free Buns and bread . I ordered a burger and it was AMAZING ...the meat was done perfectly and I truly enjoyed the bun . Our server was top notch ...our beverages were always full and her personality was great . Cute little diner with pretty good diner food. I am a pushover for diner dives and so this place was perfect. I had the French toast with eggs and hash browns with coffee. The locals eat here and I enjoyed the parts of conversations I overheard -- "my blood pressure was high and the Dr. was so great..." :) I would eat here again. Fast service and reasonable prices. I found this place after attempting to eat downtown and becoming frustrated with trying to find a place to park. read more

was dying for a sandwich after so many pizza's/pasta on this trip. took an hour to find and decide on a place. wanted to avoid front st. and this place fit the bill. outside looks more impressive than in side but don't let the worn, tired interior detour you from eating here. If diner food your desire, randy's is a great choice. i ordered the classic grilled cheese, an order of fries and coleslaw($6.38)- all separate items on the menu. and it was exactly what you would expect from a diner. white bread thick with a proper amount of cheese, fries extra good-think they had a batter coating, and a great coleslaw. CLASSIC TASTES! and generous servings i could share with hubby. he got the Reuben sandwich served on rye with standard potato chips. but it was good and traditional. all was so good, above what we expected, mine the best i've had in a number of years. we would return and recommend randy's to anyone looking for diner food. read more

My son and I came to Traverse City on vacation, and we needed a place to eat. My son found this diner so we decided to go there. I ordered the avocado omelette and it tasted great! My son got the single pancake with chocolate chips, and he thought it was the best pancake he had ever tasted. The waitress only messed up once when she forgot my son's bacon, but when we told her, she brought it perfectly tasty. My son and I recommend this place for breakfast. 4/5 stars! read more

I am a huge Diner enthusiast, I lived in Jersey for 3 years and ate at some of the best. Randys Diner has been in TC since I can remember, and I recently went out to dinner there for my first time. Rather quaint on the inside with a diner feel to it...The table cloth wasn't totally clean, but I have worked in the business for some time and understandably mistakes happen. But adjacent to our table was a bus cart with two overflowing bus tubs and it wasn't that busy. I ordered the olive burger and my girlfriend had the bacon cheeseburger. The waitress didn't ask how we wanted them cooked. I had a malt and she had a milk shake, both really looked the same. Our meal came out and our waitress put the wrong burger in front of me. Mind you, we were her only table. Two people. I switched the baskets and she came up and apologized...The burgers were good, but half way through our meal we could hear a waitress talk about her personal life and boyfriend situation that I felt was a distraction. Definitely a conversation to be having after closing time. For the price I spent and the mediocre service at best means I wont be coming back again. read more

Our server Cynthia was very cheerful and welcoming. She kept the coffee coming and checked on us often. The place was pretty full with only a few empty tables. Thought I would try something not on Front Street, read the burgers were different and great. I found seating for one or two (other than the counter) was the first 2 tables in the middle of the walkway. First mistake was to sit at one of these. In hindsight, the first mistake was arriving here in the first place. After I seated myself I felt I sat at the table the staff dumped all the extra menus. Service was minimal and with little interest. I wasn't asked how things were. I would have told them I expected at least onion and pickle on a regular burger since the mustard and ketchup were on the table. A refill for the soda was an afterthought. I guess she was hoping to receive a tip. I did tip, but reluctantly. The coleslaw was served in a covered souffle cup. I felt I should take it to go. Another guest came in with their mother, who was using a walker. I had to move my table several inches to one side so she could pass. I did not mind this, I have been with people who need accomodations and it is nice to have people help out. A few minutes the bus person, a mature woman, banged my table twice trying to put her cart through the other side of my table. Then she just moved the table as I was eating. I found this to be irritating, but brushed it off. I continued to eat my meal and browse my magazine when the bus person decided she needed to pass through again. I guess she didn't move it enough the first time to suit her so she banged it again, twice and moved my table again. She said, Oh, sorry. I got up and said I guess I am done now. I paid my bill and left. From what I gathered, don't go to Randy's Diner two hours before they close, they have too much to do to want to serve you or be considerate. I should've gone to Sparky's or tried the Fleet downtown. If you don't expect much, this is the place to go, but the price is not in line with experience. read more

Traveling in late June with friends, we pulled into Traverse City after a long day of driving and toured around (on our way to Boyne Mountain and Mackinac Island). Seeing a diner nestled back from the street, I mentioned it (as we were looking for some place to eat) - and Luckily (!!) we all decided to try Randy's. It was a Very, Very GOOD experience! The only un-preposessing thing about Randy's is the exterior. The interior may not have have "chic" ambiance, either - but the food can NOT be beaten! I had one of the "specials" - an avocado-cheddar burger with sweet potato fries and a cup of split-pea and ham soup. Heaven. The soup was thick, rich, flavorful and full of great smoked ham. The burger was large, without being obscene, and the cheddar, avocado, lettuce and tomato were fresh and plentiful. Great burger! The sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had - not home-made but sweet, tender, hot and from fresh, sweet oil. Best meal we had on the trip. The waitresses were friendly (sisters) and we learned about this restaurant - I got a t-shirt AND cup (unusual for me but I do NOT want to forget Randy's!). Only one regret: we can't easily go back as we live in KY! read more
