Great service - our server was so friendly and wonderful. Not overly attentive but made sure we were well taken cared of. He even joked with us and gave us a free appetizer (which was delicious, and a great start to our meal)! Delicious food - we ordered a variety of dishes, from an eggplant dish, chickpea dish, chicken, lentils and even a cheese dish and of course a big basket of naan, complete with wheat, garlic, original and spinach(?) naan. Not Indian food connoisseurs by any means. However the food is absolutely delicious, full of flavor and just enough spice. And for all you yelpers, use the check in function to get a nice discount If you've never had Indian food before and want to try something new, this is the place to start. We will definitely be coming back and are excited to try more dishes! read more

Have been looking for a half decent Indian food restaurant since moving here from Arizona and found a golden gem by mistake. Tried many places, but wanted Indian for my birthday dinner so decided to try again and I was so happy I did. The food is amazing and the dessert given on the house was perfect for a ending. Just one thing I regret......was getting it to go and not dining at the restaurant. Will definitely remedy that mistake the next time. Look forward to returning soon!!!! read more

Always Pleasing We've eaten here several times over the years and the food, staff, and pricing have always been pleasing. The staff makes you feel welcome, and they often check with diners to be sure all is well. We had the Kasmiri Naan (bread--very tasty but we didn't detect any raisins---one waiter told us they were finely ground and mixed in with the cashews and coconut)--delicious, none-the-less. Main courses we chose were the Bhindi Masala, Lamb Biryani (tasty, but I had to add some tamarind sauce to moisten it to my liking), and chicken curry--all quite tasty and even better as leftovers! One waiter brought us a small complimentary order of the yummy vegetable pakora--an appreciated gesture. There is nearby parking, a full bar, and most major credit cards are accepted. We happened upon this place a few years ago and now if we want Indian food, we always order Rang. Everyone who works there is so nice and the food is amazing. I am addicted to their butter chicken but literally everything I have tried is good. I think most Indian restaurants are a little pricy compared to American food, but it's worth every penny. read more

Last week, my boyfriend and I ordered take-out from here and it was a pleasant experience. I've never had Indian cuisine before so I was excited to check out the things their menu had to offer! It's a pretty lengthy one with a lot of choices, but I settled on their Vegetable Curry dish and my boyfriend had the Chicken Chili Masala. For both dishes, we had the spice level changed to mild and it was just right. My vegetable curry dish was pretty decent! The curry they used was flavorful and I also really enjoyed their fragrant rice. It paired with everything nicely. I would've wanted a bit more of a variety in terms of the vegetables, too. I tried my boyfriend's dish and I loved it- the sauce was so savory and had this creamy kind of taste. We were both very full after our meals and even had leftovers! Not bad....service could be a little more organized? Cocktails came after the appetizer. Some of the apps came out cold in the middle. The dinner came out in dribs and drabs, and we had to ask a couple times for it. Everything was homemade, and the kafta sauces had a nice ginger flavor. Indian Food aka OMG SOOOO GOOD Finally Stoneham is branching out! Rang's is awesome. The entire staff (including the chef) are super friendly. They remember their regular customers and that goes a long way. Park in the parking lot (lots of spaces available) and just walk over. They greet you and will seat you quickly. They already know that I adore their sweet lassi so they bring it before I even order it now. So yeah the sweet lassi is yummie. What I normally order is their chicken korma in all it's creamy goodness and I do love their lamb rice dish. Their meaty appetizer sampler is great and just enough to get you started. You can order things mild to super spicy and they get it right each and every time! Their naan is warm and wonderful with everything you could ever order. go and enjoy! read more

I was home for a little while during the summer from school in san francisco. San francisco has some of the most amazing restaurants so my craving for Indian food was taking over my summer vacation. So i looked and looked and came across this place. Its kind of expensive but that's also b/c there's not to many Indian paces around MA. The food was yummy and the staff was really friendly, in fact they were shocked to see us there. They asked us where we were from (thinking we were out of towners) the good food the bad prices the ugly location--its really hard to find b/c its behind a tree and all this jazz other than that, i got a pretty good Indian food fix! thanks guys! read more

My roommate discovered this place a few weeks ago. Service was great: fast and very friendly. We shared orders of Chicken Chili Masala and Lamb Vindaloo. Both where transcendent. Tender meat spiced perfectly. The Masala was nice and spicy, but you could taste all the spices before the burn. Perfect to wash down with an ice cold Taj Mahal beer. I love finding a fantastic Indian restaurant not more than 10 minutes from my house. I just wished they delivered in Malden! read more

Ordered delivery and as always, the food was amazing, which given the current covid situation and how far we live from the restaurant is beyond expectations. The shrimp was cooked perfectly soft, the rice was fragrant, and those of us that enjoy hot and spicy were delighted with the chicken chili masala. My Indian friend brought me here. Food is authentic and flavorful. We ordered the mixed appetizer dish, chicken saag, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, and shrimp do piazza (hopefully spelling that right). The naan was some of the best I've had and the Kashmiri version was a sweet treat filled with coconut and nuts. Our waiter Raj (who I think owns the place) was delightful and entertaining! Definitely recommend the tikka masala, mixed appetizer dish, and the Kashmiri naan, but all of it was good. read more

This place has great Indian food and has a decent amount of space for where it's located. To the side of the restaurant is an area for parking so getting there is a breeze. I've been there twice once during a board game convention and once because my roommate works with the owner of the place (at the owner's 2nd job.) The first time was great as there were a decent amount of people and the atmosphere was great at night. Our waiter was attentive and I really enjoyed eating with friends. The food was delicious. The second time I arrived at this restaurant, I didn't know this was the restaurant I'd been to previously until I was the really unique sign that hangs in the window. I was ready for another fine meal. This time around was during daylight and the restaurant doesn't have the same atmosphere during daylight. I'd really suggest getting some type of dimmers for the windows. The waitstaff didn't seem as attentive and fits the other reviews of the service being inconsistent. I was able to use a Groupon which they didn't have a problem with, which is nice because I've found some restaurants although participate in the Groupon program, don't always appreciate the use of them. The food was still really good. I really enjoyed both of my visits and would suggest the restaurant to anyone in the area, just forgive them for the variation in waitstaff. read more

This place is a decent spot, but not worth going out of your way for. If you're stuck downtown and need a good lunch I'd recommend heading across the street to Anthony's and getting an italian sub on a braided roll. If it's Indian you're after there are better options not too far away. I'd recommend the place at the Burlington mall over this. The food is slightly better and the prices are much better. The only reason I go here anymore is because my wife has Celiac's and can't eat the subs at Anthony's, so sometimes I stop in and pick up something for her if I am getting a sub. read more

This place is amazing. I have been turned off to Indian food for a few years after a very bad experience, but this was the perfect way to ease back into it. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. The menu is descriptive enough for people who may be new to Indian cuisine, and has healthy options as well as indulgent options. I ordered the kalmi kabob. My chicken was extremely tender and absolutely delicious. The flavor was great and the whole meal was outstanding. We got caught up in conversation and ended up talking until about 11, when the restaurant closed at 10. They never once asked us to leave or made us feel like we needed to (which if they had, it would have been understandable). I can't wait to go back. It was a great experience. read more

I really liked Rang! It wasn't perfect, but I can't afford to go to a perfect restaurant! It's not as good as Bhindi Bazaar in Boston, but I live on the Northshore and I don't always want to go into Boston for a nice dinner. Rang is a very small, quiet restaurant. There's seriously only like 12 tables in the place. There was only 1 waiter and 1 busboy/ water filler there the night we went. We went on a Thursday. Service was a little slow, but honestly, it's to be expected at a tiny restaurant like this. Even if it was a little slow, our waiter was very polite and attentive. The food is good. Much more fresh tasting than Jyoti's Palace in Malden! We only ate vegetarian food, I can't speak for the meat stuff. We got a breadbasket, I ordered the Matter Paneer, and my boyfriend got the Saag Paneer. I asked for mine to be mild, and he wanted his spicey and we were both satisfied with the spice levels. My only complaint would be that the nan was a bit too greasy- it came out more like hot fried dough! I plan on going back. I'd say if you're looking for a fast meal- go somewhere else. but if you want a good Indian meal on the Northshore to have a nice quiet date- this is the place! read more

I love Indian food. It's probably my favorite style of ethnic cuisine. So, I'm always looking for good places locally. This place isn't just good, it's excellent. Everything is fresh and perfectly spiced. They have a fantastic gluten free selection and vegetarian selection as well as delicious naan for those who can do gluten and probably the best chicken tikka masala I have ever had. I didn't ask, but the mango lassi really tastes like it is made from scratch and without anything artificial. The over-all selection is vast without being too overwhelming like some places. The service is prompt and polite. The prices are extremely reasonable. I will be frequenting this spot for as long as I live in this area :) read more

I generally like to try somewhere more than once before writing a review, but I was so excited to find this place I had to share. I was starving, and looking for good Indian food close to home when I stumbled upon this gem. I ordered a pickup for vegetable samosas and lamb kabob. Got there in 20 minutes, and my order was already waiting for me. The restaurant was relatively small, but had beautiful artwork and the service was excellent. Got home and devoured everything, it was all delicious. Could tell the samosas were home made which is always a plus! The kabob came with delicious chutney. I cannot stop saying how friend the staff here is and how consistently fresh their food is - ordered some Indian Bread (Naan) and Chicken Curry and had to order some more to-go because the food was so fresh and yummy. One can easily tell that there are no additives or it's not leftovers that are heated and served. Food so healthy, it'll make you feel you light even after eating the bread (usually not the case with Indian food). Also, needless to say, Raj is the best. He is so kind and offering helpful tips about food and places around. He is always bringing us food on the house, anytime my husband and I go there. My grandfather has been dining here for years. The staff know him and love him- they always accommodate his special requests. It was an honor to join him for lunch today and check out his local spot. The food was outstanding. Good crackers, onion chutney and sweet sauce (missing the green one!) He had the lamb korma (staff remembered extra raisins) and I had lamb vindaloo/ spicy and perfect in every way. The owner even took a pic of us on his phone (better lighting) and texted it to me. I ate here last night. It's a great Indian restaurant with a nice menu selection. I'm told that Rang means 'colour' in Punjabi, and Rang Indian Bistro certainly has a menu that shows a full spectrum of Indian food. Previously my favourite Indian restaurant was India's Finest in Wakefield but since it closed I decided to try out Rang Bistro. I was not disappointed. All of the food we tried was excellent, and about the same quality as India's Finest, which was the best Indian food I'd ever tasted (and I'm English so I'm used to dining in Indian restaurants, which are ubiquitous in England). Rang also has a nice wine selection and a good beer list, although for the person who's willing to forego the alcohol, I would suggest trying their Mango Lassi - it's great! The food is rather more spicy than in most Indian restaurants in the US - I'd say it was properly spiced. That's not the case with most Indian restaurants in the US and I usually find myself asking them to spice food up well beyond what they usually offer. That's not the case here, so some people who are used to 'toned-down' Indian restaurants may find that they need to go for the milder versions when they visit Rang Bistro. I recommend the Malai Kofta - it's awesome. We also tried the mixed vegetable starter, which, although small, is very good indeed. Also, go for the smaller Naan platter - we (three of us) did and we couldn't imagine finding room for anything larger. Next time I'm going to try their Vindaloo - that's usually the acid test for an Indian Restaurant. read more

Delicious if you have the patience to wait for it and the service stinks. Also a little pricey for the location. The food comes out in no particular order and two of the dishes we ordered, the veggie biryani and the bread basket, were very late getting to the table. In fact we took the biryani home. I've been eating it Rang since it first opened many years ago. I was so happy to have an Indian restaurant close to my home out in the suburbs, that was not only easily accessible, but the food rivals that of anything I've had in Boston as well as reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food served. I'm a vegetarian, and there are many varied dishes for me here at this restaurant as well as classic Indian chicken, fish and meat dishes for anyone that accompanies me there that's not a vegetarian. The management and staff here are always exceptional! I recently moved from the suburbs into the city of Boston so I no longer am in the area to easily stop by Rang. However, I often do make a trip out there for a variety of reasons and if I'm in the area I'm certain to eat at Rang as well as making the trip there just to dine at Rang! read more

This is the best Indian food I've found in the Boston area, and I've tried a lot of places over the years. It seems to have more flavor than the food at other restaurants. I ordered a chicken dish prepared in a coconut sauce - it was a special the night I was there. I was amazed by it. My mother-in-law had a lamb shank that she very much enjoyed. She'd only ever had them at Italian restaurants, and thought that the Indian version was a nice change. Rang has a full liquor license, which you don't often find at Indian restaurants. read more

Went for dinner last night with a coupon from Restaurant.com for $25 off can't go wrong! We started off with 2 vegetable samosas, they were delicious! Probably the best we've had. Then came some whole wheat bread stuffed with peas and potatoes cooked in butter. This was also very tasty. Leftovers are good for the morning. Entrée was there rack of lamb in a spicy curry sauce. Oh, the lamb was fall-off-the-bone to die for. The curry was great as well, spicy like we had requested. We got 2 pieces of lamp for $18.95, very filling. We also shared the tandoori chicken saag. This was not as great as the lamb and the portion was small for $13. We also tend to compare our saag to Punjabi Dhaba's in Inman and theirs is hard to beat, taste and price-wise. Along with 2 guiness beers, the total with tip and tax amounted to $37. Great price for amount of food thanks to Restaurant.com. Bottom line: Indian restaurants tend to be overpriced- but would go back because food was quite good. Waiter was friendly as well and very attentive. read more

My wife and I are local and go to Rang's every two or three months or so. The service is always good and for the food has always been decent (there was one time when I ordered the chefs special that was cubes of goat still on the bone, not a fan of that --- tasted fine, bones not so much). The restaurant is small and in quiet periods the staff is at break in the dining room. read more

Im going to keep this short and to the point. Rang's is absolutely delicious. I love their chicken dopiazzo and vindaloo. Chicken pakoras, veggie samosas and garlic naan are also perfect and amazing. I had a wonderful meal Saturday at Rang's. They were polite, the food was great and they go the extra mile to keep the customer happy.
