He helped relieve our fears from a competitor, who told us that the only solution to the water in our basement would cost $19,000. He was polite and knowledgeable. Rick came to my home to inspect a foundation issue caused by water erosion. He told me the repair would be simple, take very little time, and cost less than $1,000. He said he would send me a written estimate and schedule the repair. After that, I never heard from him again. I followed up multiple times by text and email and received no response. If they weren't interested in the job, a simple message would have been appreciated. Instead, I was completely ghosted. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this company. read more

In July 2020, we had a few businesses come to give us estimates on correcting our basement water problems. We already had been using a sump pump and there were French drains that weren't performing properly. We decided to use Rapid Response as a medium cost estimate. Rick himself came to give us the estimate but on the day of the work, it was just the young guys who would do the heavy work. We had asked to have the location of the sump pump hole moved because it had been located right next to the boiler. We thought that was a wise move. The work was done quickly, within two days. The new discharge location seemed to be a good choice. But we were disappointed that the discharge pipe was only placed literally inches below the ground. Which absolutely guaranteed freezing in the winter. Now there is a freeze discharge above the ground but that in itself created a new problem. Within three months of the installation, we had three sump pumps burn out! Christmas morning that year, which we had rain and 60 degrees, we had 6" of water in the basement and had to call the fire department to pump us out! When the alarm had gone off on Christmas Eve that the sump pump wasn't working, attempts to reach Rick went unheeded. He did finally arrive after the fire department came to help us and installed a different sump pump. As an extra precaution, a few days later he installed a second sump pump in the same hole as a back up. We are happy to say they have lasted so far. However, last spring as the ground was still frozen and the discharge pipe was still frozen, we had a great deal of rain. The sump pump was discharging twice a minute. However, with the freeze discharge being right beside a basement window, as much water was just going back into the basement as was being discharged! I called and emailed pictures to Rick for help....but still have never heard a response. This begs our concerns if either of the sump pumps fail that we will get a response from Rick. And this spring, we are realizing that the water being discharged from the sump pump is flooding our septic drainage fields. Contacting our septic company, they felt that a responsible basement business person would have asked us about where our septic fields were. CONSUMER BEWARE Rick was paid $4,200 in April 2020 for basement waterproofing ( crawlspace ) * a small,1200 sq foot 2 story home* 5 months later, in September 2020, a strong odor was noted throughout the house. When Rick quoted price for the job, he explained " I use quality products and I do not cut corners like some other people in this business do" Rick went on to explain that for $4200 he would ensure that we would not experience odors in the house, "odors that often occur when poor quality materials are used or when corners are cut in workmanship" Rick explained that a drainage mat, wrap on the floor and on the walls inaddition to installing a dehumidifier was necessary to avoid potential for strong odors similar to CAT URINE from emanating up into the house. This type of odor started the week of September 20th. Reflecting back to the conversation with Rick regarding odor and our decision in April to pay $4200 to avoid the problem, I contacted Rapid Response on September 22nd. A female staff person took my call- I explained that I was extremely concerned about a pungent smell of CAT URINE that had invaded the house that my two grandBABIES now live in; a 2 year old and a 5 DAY OLD NEWBORN. I expressed being fearful for the newborn- as to a potential air quality or a mold issue. The woman stated she would get the message to Rick ASAP and he would be in touch with me. I waited until the end of the business day to hear back, then I reached out again. The female answered the business line again and replied to my concern with " he said he knows what the problem is, he said it is not mold so you don't have to worry about that. He said he will get back to you." I conveyed to the woman that I felt very anxious and I could not understand how Rick could KNOW it was not an air quality / safety issue / mold problem without coming to the house and simply hearing of my report of a foul odor 2nd hand. Rick called me back on 9/23 at 5 pm to explain " the odor is a fluke thing that happens due to the ph in the soil... it happens, and I will take care it for you. I am at Lowes right now looking for the parts I need." After our call ended, within minutes, he text me saying Lowes did not have the part he needed, but he ordered it and it should be in within a few days, he would take care of the problem next week." A week later, on 9/30 I reached out to Rick again, as I had not heard from him and the odor was awful to live with. Rick stated: "the materials have not arrived yet, I said I would take care of it free of charge, even though the issue really isn't my fault." It is now 10/06/20 - 3 weeks since the issue was brought to Ricks attention - He has now turned his lack of remediating the issue unto me - per his text communication with me today: " you expect me to do anything now... you were rude to my staff and threatened me with social media exposure... Find someone else to install a mitigation system for you" Indeed, I do intend to find someone who will mitigate... Integrity = 0 Total disregard of the potential hazard for the newborn infant and 2 yr old baby living in the home. read more
