Came in to try their Thai tea. Pretty good. No sweet. No boba. I really like that they use heavy whipping cream. That's a first. I've never had that. And it went well. Price is fair too. Decided to swing by as I was heading home and gave the strawberry matcha a second try and it was definitely a better experience compared to the first time! I was wanting to visit Haven on a particularly busy Saturday night and ended up parking further away than usual - and that's how I ended up seeing that a new tea place had opened up in the same plaza as Haven City. They had their BOGO special a few weeks back (sadly I missed that), but I had been craving boba all day and so I took advantage of the opportunity to grab a drink and try a new place. I would say that there aren't too many boba places like RareTea in the Inland Empire - they offer milk teas, teas with organic milk, fruit teas, matcha tea, smoothies, and special-teas. They also have a plethora of add-ins and toppings. I will say that the drinks are on the pricier side - and if you're customizing and adding toppings, the drinks can end up costing more than anticipated. I wanted to buy the most generic drink - a boba milk tea; they don't have any options where there's a set price for a tea with boba inside already, so I paid $5.50 for the black milk tea + $0.65 for boba and $1.25 for snow cream. (If you wanted the brown sugar boba, it would have been an extra $1.00 - felt like this was a little too high.) My drink came out to almost $8. With the increase in pricing for many items, I can understand having to mark up items, but paying almost $8 for a drink was a little too much. They do use quality items - and overall, the taste of the drink was pretty good. While I didn't get the brown sugar boba, I thought the regular boba was sweet enough. And the snow cream was also well made - thick and creamy without having too much cheese taste. Drinking the tea with a sip of the snow cream and then the tea made for quite the delicious sip. I do think the black milk tea at 50% sugar tasted a bit more watered down instead of having a strong tea flavor. Aesthetics of the shop interior is really nice - very white and bright with a good number of tables/chairs. They're really close to another boba shop inside Haven though, so there might be some competition. Overall, I'm glad to see more tea shops like RareTea opening up! I don't know if I would return if I was craving boba or something chewy, but if I was wanting a fruit tea, I would definitely give this place another try. Would give the rating a 3.5 but rounded up because they workers were friendly and helpful and I'd like to see them succeed. If only the prices of the toppings could be knocked down a bit. read more

I ordered the caramelized brown sugar boba milk tea. I was told the sweetness level could not be changed because the sweetness comes from the boba so you'd get less boba. There are three boba places that I frequent in Rancho Cucamonga depending on what drink I'm craving. Rare Tea became one of my top 2 when they came out with their duo grape tea (when they used grapes and not the jelly they use now). I considered it a fairly authentic tea with decent ingredient quality compared to places in SGV and LA. Today I stopped by to get the rose matcha latte. I'm very soft spoken, so the young employee may not have heard me well enough because I ended up with a lychee matcha latte. I would have drank it, but I'm not fond of the combination. I waited in line after getting my drink to ask them to replace it. At that time the younger employee was making orders and the older man came to the front to take orders. As soon as I mentioned that I ordered the rose and that I would've drank it if it hadn't been lychee matcha, he proceeded to loudly berate the younger employee. He appeared to be very angry and was gesticulating violently. Not only does witnessing that make me uncomfortable as a customer, but verbal abuse is also not okay. I was going to tell the older person to speak to his employee more nicely, because speaking to them that way actually increases the chances of them making more mistakes and isn't good for them in general. The guy made my drink, dropped it on the counter, and walked away. I had zero chance of chatting with him about it and I couldn't apologize to the young employee for my part. I will not be back. We came here after lunch today as my ops manager has grown fond of this new tea location. The place was clean and had a nice trendy tea shop atmosphere to it. There were three young ladies behind the counter taking orders and prepping the drinks. The one who took our orders was pleasant, and asked questions on how we would like our drinks. I had the strawberry berry snow cream, and it was refreshing. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the drink was basically blended strawberries, with crushed ice, topped with a cream. I believe it was supposed to be a spring tea drink, but I'm i no it sure if I noticed the tea at all. I almost always order online so I can get quick service and usually I get the order earlier than the time promised. This time I finally walk in 20 minutes early seeing how other walk-ins are getting their drink orders. So of course I asked where's my order, the worker responds with oh it won't be ready till 12:10 and that the machine didn't print the order yet. I stood there as he told me let me make it right now. Instead l, he makes 4 walkins drinks before mine and so I am upset at this point and asked for a refund I guess walkins get priority over customers who place their orders ahead of time, which doesn't make any sense. Super disappointed especially being a repeat customer. Complete waste of my time ! In response to what you wrote below; the worker was NOT in the middle of making anyone's drinks. He was only taking the walk-ins orders. It was at that time I had asked for my online order, which he told me that it wouldn't be ready till 12:10 AND that your machine didn't print my order. What should have happened was the worker telling me that he would work on my order and then actually do it after he takes the walk-in orders NOT fully make all their orders first after he just told me that he would make my order. My heart broke a little when the total for one drink came out to $7. I didn't even get a blended drink :'( I was eating nearby and wanted boba. The nearby options were Boba Time inside Haven City or Rare Tea. I chose Rare Tea since I've never heard of it. The place is pretty cute. I love how bright and clean it looks. I ordered the Mango Passion Fruit Green Tea with grass jelly. It was good but I wasn't a fan of the passion fruit seeds. The grass jelly was pretty herbal-y which I didn't mind. All the drinks are one size. With so many boba options nowadays, it's hard to justify paying $7 for a drink. There's much cheaper options out there for the exact same drink. I thought I had left a review for RareTea a while back but seems I did not. I came here back when they first opened in March because I was so intrigued about an actual shop here. I was always seeing ads on instagram about this thing called RareTea and how you could get ingredients shipped to you so you can make your own boba/tea drinks at home so when I saw they opened up a real place here, I was like woah what the heck?! When I came for the first time in march, I ordered a strawberry matcha latte ($6.25) and no toppings. I was super into matcha around that time and always wanted to try everyone's matcha drinks to see who had the best one. I had high expectations for this one for some reason abut unfortunately after I shook it up and took a sip, I felt like there was just an intense layer of powder on my tongue. I know matcha does not dissolve as I do make my own at home too and I would order it everywhere I go, but this feeling of a layer of it on my tongue was not it. The flavor was yummy though, but with every sip I just had the weird feeling on there which wasn't pleasant at all. I honestly didn't want to go back and try them again because I was beyond disappointed in that, but I said I'm sure their other drinks taste just fine. I never got a chance to go back because of a busy schedule and just rarely going to that area/plaza, but I finally went again 7 months later lol. I wanted to just order my usual that I get at other boba shops which is a honey milk tea with a green tea base and crystal boba. When I said my order of "Honey green milk tea" (which is what I always say at other places), the girl hesitated and repeated my order back saying "okay honey green tea" and put my order in and started making drinks. I thought about her saying my order back to me and was hoping that a regular honey green tea wasn't going to come out, but of course it did. I said that I wanted a honey milk tea with a green tea base because I just don't like black tea bases. They said unfortunately their honey milk tea is made with a green tea base only and they asked if I wanted them to remake my drink to a honey milk tea, but i said no thank you because I just said I don't love black tea. The girls were super sweet about it but it was just 2 strikes already with me ordering from here and it's deterring me from coming back again, sadly. I do want to say though that my green tea with honey & crystal boba did taste good and refreshing, but it just wasn't exactly my order because I wanted that milk in it. My cousins ordered a passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly and black milk tea with boba and they said it was delicious and well made. I really don't doubt their other drinks and they have a lot of good reviews with this place being a staple for a lot of people so I would still recommend them to others. Since I did come here back when they first opened and I took pics of the menu, the only difference is that the price of most of their toppings did go up like 15¢ since then. Their drinks seem a tad pricey in my opinion especially since I love crystal boba and that's already an additional $1.
