Stopped by for my first time to finally check this spot out. One of my friends loves their teas so I thought the boba bracket was the perfect opportunity to stop by! I ordered the Oreo milk tea, boba topping, with no ice and 50% sweetness. I'm the type of person to not like my drinks intoxicatingly sweet but also with some sweetness. Usually 50% at boba shops are perfect for me but at this place I wish I would have gotten 70%. My drink was good but was lacking any sweetness. If I got 70% I think I would have been satisfied. The boba balls were really good, chewy but not hard or disintegrating/ soggy. I enjoyed how my cup was filled to the brim even without ice! Not sure on options for sizing but I'm assuming it's one size. I would love to come back to try their fruit teas and other toppings like jelly! They'll give samples of the snow cream if you ask. I'm personally not a fan of it--but if you like salty cheese cream you'll probably be a big fan. It's by far the strongest tasting cream I've ever had. This place is really cute. They are in a Great location, have friendly staff and tasty Milk tea! Popped in here while walking around Downtown to try out a new Boba Place. They were pretty busy when we arrived but we were able to order rather quickly. The menu is a bit limited in comparison to other tea places but I almost like this. It makes ordering less daunting and makes combinations less confusing. I ordered a taro milk tea with lite ice and boba. Over all it was really tasty. The milk tea wasn't too sweet and had a nuttier taste to it in comparison to other more manufactured taro flavored teas. I do however suggest you get full ice when you order. The tapioca pearls were still warm when the tea was served which left the final tea a bit warm. I highly recommend you give this place a go! RareTea is not worth the $5. Not was it hard to find where Rare tea was located but the mango green tea I got was disgusting. When I went to Rare Tea there was no one inside and the staff were just sitting and waiting for customers. Location of Rare Tea is located near the Golden 1 Center. Now if you're not familiar with downtown Sacramento or don't visit the area of Golden 1 Center, then finding where Rare Tea will be challenging. There's no signs until you take the escalator by Pressed Juicery up and see rare tea next to the poke shop. The tea had a chemically taste and the purée of mango didn't help but make it worse. The boba was a little too soft which means it's been sitting for a little while. Mango green tea is a super basic tea to make and to have it taste so bad was surprising and disappointing. RareTea...like rarity? While good-tasting boba isn't necessarily hard to find, I'm sad to say you probably won't find it here... Firstly, the location of this establishment is downright confusing. It's not located in a plaza or on the street. It's located inside an open-air shopping area on the second floor so you have to park in one of the nearest public garages and make your way through the "shopping area" before stumbling upon RareTea that is located in the back. The parlor itself is simplistic, but bright and spacious. The menu is also variable with lots to choose from like milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies, and creamas. After some contemplation, I decided to get the Oreo milk tea at 80% sweetness with less ice. In no time, my number was called and I was immediately disappointed just by the look of it. I suppose I was expecting the Oreo bits to be more evenly dispersed in my drink, like in some sort of cream that was spread around the cup or in a whip layer on top, but instead there was just a cloud of Oreo pieces settling at the bottom of the cup. I had to stir the drink every time just to get some taste of Oreo; otherwise, all I could taste was a muted black milk tea. Strangely, instead of getting less ice in my drink, I didn't have much of any ice. Lukewarm milk tea is definitely not my favorite. Unfortunately, RareTea just wasn't that great. We came here on a Friday night. It wasn't busy at all and there were two other customers. We ordered 3 drinks and an order of egg-puffs. It took awhile to get our drinks and we didn't order anything special just a boba Thai tea, boba cream tea and a coffee grass jelly. He either didn't hear that I wanted boba when he took my order or he simply forgot my boba in my cream tea which I was pretty annoyed. The guy seem a bit lost when I said where's my boba. So I just said forget it since we've been waiting longer than normal. I must say at least at least my 0% sugar black tea cream drink was really good but could have been better with boba. The eggpuff was a bit dry and it's pretty small portion compared to other boba places. It didn't impress me and seeing high ratings through yelp, I expected soo much more. Came here at around 1pm and I expected there to be quite a bit of a wait, but there really wasn't! A lot of other reviews said that their drinks took way longer than expected, but mine took only 10 minutes. There were three workers and they were very efficient and extremely friendly! I ordered the taro milk tea with lychee jelly and I'm HOOKED. The taro is so creamy and flavorful! They also don't put a lot of ice normally and this is a wonderful surprise! Other boba places are very stingy so they put a ton of ice, which waters down the drink a lot. RareTea is very different! Not only do they put less ice, they put A LOT more toppings! I have yet to sip this drink without getting a jelly. I also love the cups. They are so cute and durable! They also save your hands from your cold drink! Prices are VERY reasonable!! My drink came out to only $4.50! Compared to other places where my drinks come out t almost $6. Definitely will return again!! Hopefully soon!! read more

I finally made it to Rare Tea, located in the newly minted upstairs shopping area of "DOCO". I had avoided coming to this shopping area, even though I have been dying to try out Rare Tea, simply due to the parking/crowds situation. However, I ventured out on a Sunday morning and popped in just after they opened- no lines! They had fresh tea and boba, ready to go. The two gentleman kindly answered all my inane questions, and made some recommendations. They created an delicious drink for me: Black tea with organic milk, fresh boba (pearl) balls with easy ice. Ice- some places will give you funny looks if you ask for no ice/easy ice, but the truth is, I like the strong taste of tea, and ice just waters it down for me. Speaking of which, the tea is amazing! Freshly brewed and not already sweetened or mixed, it had a very smooth strong taste. The boba was amazing- perfectly chewy, not too soft and lightly flavored with honey. The menu is diverse: They offer a variety of milk teas, organic milk teas, coffee drinks, fruit teas, smoothies, all available with various toppings such as pearl (boba), fresh lychee, puddings, jellies, red bean, etc. I believe they offer almond and oat milk for an additional cost- good for vegans. Rare Tea serves the drinks in reusable cups with cool double sided lids- which I love. They also offer drinks in a glass jar for a little bit more money. The store space is small, but modern and very clean. Price wise, it is more expensive than the average tea shop, however given their location, I expected as much. (Side note: THANK YOU for having boba made when you opened- I cannot tell you how many tea places do not have boba available until an hour or 2 after they open the doors- very frustrating especially when I want my balls, lol) Thank you Rare Tea- I hope to be back soon. read more

I am impressed by the Boba it tasted amazing not to sweet and perfectly chewy. Not very many people have a roasted tieguanyin Milk tea (which is a type of oolong) by far impressed I love it! The staff were all really awesome and I believe one of the girls who was there was the owner who recognized my friend who is on the front page of a lot of boba shops. Whenever I'm craving a good milk tea, this is my go to spot. Today I got their High Mountain Organic Milk tea 50% sweet, normal ice. I can always count on them for using REAL tea, and I know this because 1) you can taste it and 2) their normal ice is like less ice since the tea is freshly brewed and has melted most of the ice. One of the few places that serve High Mountain oolong in the area. Other favorites include roasted oolong milk tea and organic jasmine green milk tea. Nice staff, great drinks. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come to DoCo just for a bobba fix. But I do appreciate there being a bobba shop here if I'm here for an event at the arena or if I'm down here for something else. Super tiny, they allow only 1 person at a time due to Covid restrictions. But the drinks are in very sturdy cups, and the drinks I had were excellent. I had them take the sweetness level to 50% on my passion fruit green tea so it was a little more bitter than I was expecting but I still enjoyed it. The strawberry drink reminded me of a strawberry julius which spurred so many memories of rolling down the mall back in the day. Definitely going to try their other stuff when the weather gets better and hangout during the sunny days of Sacramento! read more

I came here on friday night at like 9:45pm, right before they closed. There were a couple parties in there but they left pretty soon. Overall the environment of the place is pretty loud. I ordered the Jasmine Milk tea (not organic one) with half ice and half sugar, with lychee jelly. The drink was. The tea flavor wasn't as strong as I had liked but it wasn't the worst I've had. The lychee jelly was also pretty good. The girl who took my order was really helpful and nice. She answered my questions about the kind of jasmine tea they use and stuff. Checked out the very trendy Rare Tea today. Located upstairs at the DOCO, RareTea is a sleek little tea/boba shop with lots of fun options! Since today was rainy outside, there was no line which was great. Instead of a cold boba, I went for a hot black milk tea. I read online that they offer oat milk for an additional cost which got me excited, but they don't have it yet so I opted for almond milk. With that addition, my total came to $5. I like that you can pick your sweetness level here. I went for the regular, but having the option for more or less is nice. Their menu has lots to choose from. Basically a variety of milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies, boba and ALL the toppings. Another thing I like about this spot is that they serve your cold drinks in clear reusable cups. I came by during the grand opening weekend. There was a bit of a wait, but it was during a bogo promotion. I ended up ordering the brown sugar milk boba. It looked delicious in the pictures, and I've had a similar drink at T4. I didn't like it, it had a creamer taste to it. I thought the drink would be just plain milk and boba. So I mentioned it to them and they offered to make me a new drink, I got the jade tea with snow cream and boba. The jade tea was really good! The boba had a good consistency, and a nice sweetness. I ordered 80% sweet, it was actually not that sweet though, which was nice as a lot of places tend to make the drinks overly sweet. So I don't recommend the brown sugar milk boba, although I can see people liking this drink if they like creamier drinks that contain creamer. But I totally recommend the tea. The snow cream was a little different than the sea salt cream that everyone has been doing, it's not really salty, and kind of has a yogurt taste to me. It's not bad, but I think I'll just have tea and boba next time. My friend has the taro smoothie and said that was good too. Also, I really liked the reusable cups. I like how it had a place for the straw and a separate place to sip the drink with a stopper (great for cream drinks). read more

Glad boba is slowly making its way closer to West Sac. It is located on the second floor near the vicinities of the new GoldenOne center. Unless you've been on Yelp or roaming around, it would be pretty difficult to stumble upon. The Hokkaido milk tea was quite impressive with the strips of caramel flavor. Tasted very similar to the Hokkaido milk tea from ShareTea- which is an A in my book. I prefer the seal tight regular boba lids, but that's just me being picky. The lid kept on popping off. 5 star service! Immediately after my review from grand opening, the manager contacted me to come in for a free drink since the mango drink from our first visit was made incorrectly. Everything that we have ordered since the first visit has been delicious, we even went two days in a row! The tea is fragrant and flavorful, not watery like some other places. I also fully appreciate that they give 2 hour validation so that I don't have to feel guilty for paying for parking just to get boba! RareTea has awesome service and their drinks come out quickly. Came here for the Yelp elite event. Stop by on the in the evening to pick up the boba tea to try. I ordered the pearl milk tea. They have one size which is huge and it gives a lot of beverage for your dollar so it's not a bad deal. The boba that I received was probably fresh because my drink was kind of warm, which was a little disappointing considering that I love when it's colder and chilled. The staff seems super nice and that my order was processed quickly and I definitely could come back here if I'm in the area and craving some boba. read more
