What I loved most about the bowls was that while the first couple cooked vegetables have a limit the last whole section of toppings have a huge variety that you can add to your bowl. The good things about the food are the following: 1: The rice was very good (I had the basmati rice) 2: I liked the pickled onions 3: The paneer was very nice because it was chewy and had a good flavor Those are the positive things I have to say about this restaurant. Now for the negatives. My complaints are the following. 1: All of the vegetables tasted like sweet potatoes, even if they were carrots or something else 2: I do not recommend the roasted spinach. My recommendation to this restaurant is to get some R.O. (Or reverse osmosis) water so their customers can have a better drinking experience. 4: The "that fire hot sauce" was way too spicy!!!!!! There's a lot of fast-casual options in the DMV area but I'd actually return to for its flavorful food. RASA passes the "decent for fast-casual" check in my opinion. Imagine Chipotle style bowls but for Indian food - if you build your own bowl, definitely think about which ingredients and toppings pair well together. Otherwise, you might end up with something not too great. I got the chicken tikka bowl with lemon turmeric rice (they give you lots of it, like more than half of the food in your bowl will probably be rice) and peanut sesame sauce. They give you a decent amount of chicken here which is great! The rice wasn't super flavorful on its own, but went well with everything else. Peanut sesame sauce is super tasty with a lot of peanut flavor! Can't go wrong with this, but I'd be interested in trying the tomato garlic next time. Sadly, you can only choose one vegetable option here so I got the sautéed spinach and paid extra for taramind glazed brussels. Both were great options, but if I had to only pick one, definitely the sautéed spinach because it was seasoned well with lots of spices. There are loads of toppings you can choose from, but I only added the corn salsa, lentil chips, and taramind coconut powder. I thought the corn salsa was a bit bland but the latter two were nice texture additions. Overall, this was pretty delicious and I'd be happy to come back to try a different variation of the BYOB next time. read more

However, if you're worried about bang for your buck, the bowls were huge and you could have split it over 2 or 3 meals. After standing there awkwardly long enough I just left. I only decided to give them another chance because they FINALLY added paneer to their menu! I love the Home Cooking bowl but have enjoyed other combinations (Tikka Chance on Me, Aloo Need is Love). Want to mix and match-- the menu's built for that too! I've made a custom bowl when ordering for a family member that's less flavor-adventurous and they love it. The price is similar to other fast-casual places around the area, and in my opinion you're getting good value (prices range from $11-$14 per bowl). Love the new options out there for fast casual bowls with different cuisines, so was super excited for an Indian version. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with modern decor and exotic plants which I loved, although everything is for takeout right now. I ordered the tikka Chance on me bowl with some substitutes and loved it. I subbed half for the lemon turmeric rice which I ended up really liking and gave the rice a lot of flavor. Overall I think this type of bowl is nice because the sauces are a bit lighter than a normal Indian meal and you can get a few different flavors / entree items in one bowl like you would want to have for a normal Indian meal but it's priced/portioned for one person. Enjoyed the chutneys that came with the bowl and got the hot sauce on the side which was super spicy and loved it on the bowl. For the soft serve I got the twist of both mango lassi and pumpkin chai and definitely liked the mango lassi more. It reminded me a little of an orange creamsicle bar with the creamy and fruit combo. The pumpkin chai was really spicy, not sure if it was the ginger or cloves but definitely had a bite so wasn't my favorite and would definitely go for all mango lassi next time. I ended up getting the sweet potato and shrimp proteins on a bed of half rice, half romaine. This was topped with their tomato style sauce and tons of veggies. They have different, unique beverage options that are all so tasty. I would love if they had additional pre-made or pre-suggested options. The only thing I would suggest this place will be to change the bags because they gave me the food in a bag and I walked my way back home, my food spilled all over the bag because it's not a big enough for the size of the containers, so it's squishes the food and that's how it opened and the food was all over, the good thing is that I was able to eat it at home. Shout out to Jennifer for her attention, knowledge, and patience while helping me choose my bowl.
