Was super excited about the food as this was a new place opened, though the atmosphere was super cold upon entering. I had almost thought I wasn't even allowed inside. Barely any interactions or a hi from the staff. The cashier was a bit awkward but I kinda assumed she was new, no problem but even so just felt really off, like the workers scolded us for being there with their eyes. As for food, it was okay. Nachos felt like something else was needed to complete it, something missing. Overall; uncomfortable interaction today. But not to worry as I think this place is rather new. read more

It is located in what it used to be a apartment complex, what it seems like. They offer parking which is good since it's such a busy spot. The burger is good-- cheesy and flavorful. However, the gyro plate was a extremely disappointing. The meat looked like a green tortilla-- not only that but the sides were terrible-- a salad was just chopped lettuce, and some tomatoes and cucumbers on top. Besides that, the humus was sour and the tatziki tasted like rotten yogurt. I told the owner and he literally "scraped" the tatziki out but there was residue. Awful. We paid $40 for a meal that was worth $15 Max. Fries were $5! Literally fries with pepper on top. Would I come back? NEVER! Not to mention that they just ring a bell for you to get your food. Awful. Food was good.... however... service from front desk and " so called chef Kevin" was horrible. We had reservations for 530.... we showed up at 5 o'clock and asked if we could sit at the bar . Only a couple of seats at the bar, but they were divided by two and three seats in between. So we came back to hostess and asked if we could be seated by a window. A wannabe chef. "Kevin" took us to a table in the back by the kitchen in a dark area, which we said we didn't like. We asked to move to a booth by the window and we were told it was for a larger party. Mind you we were a party of two seated at a four person table in the back where it was dark and where we wanted to go, was a table for four in the light by the window.. Hmmmmm.... as we left the restaurant after 40 minutes and there was still no one at the tables that we wanted to sit at , we walked by wannabe chef Kevin, and also the hostesses at the front desk and not one person said goodbye or thank you for coming or have a nice evening. Service here sucks.! There are 1 million places where I can go for a salmon taco or a burger and this was the same service we received years ago and decided to give you another try and you still failed..... big time! Don't know the type of people that are coming to visit your restaurant, but you really need to take a good hard look at your wannabe chefs that walk around the restaurant thinking that they're God's gift and the people up in front that see you, and think twice as to how you are perceived. We went to check out this place for the first time on a Tuesday as I saw they had a good Taco Tuesday special the week prior. We were told they were not offering it anymore. The cashier was very out of it. Slow, mumbling and uninterested. Made the whole transaction very uncomfortable and weird. In regard to the food, my friend got regular tacos and he said they were fine but the tortilla was a regular mission brand tortilla. Surprising for a $5 taco. I got the carnitas nachos which didnt have a lot of flavor and full of gristle. The guacamole also had a fishy taste which isnt a great sign. Wont be going back. read more

Coast Kitchen on coast highway in Laguna Beach has recently opened. It was no accident that I came upon this place. I was actually going to Taco Loco that used to be at this location. I didn't know they closed. I spoke to the owner and they have been open for about 2 months. He told me the cook that used to be at Taco Loco is still working there. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they didn't disappoint. They also have burgers if you're not in the mood for a taco or burrito. They have a smash burger which is one of my pictures they had advertised outside. They have a shrimp burger and also a tofu mushroom burger. I'll have to try one on my next trip. The owner also told me they are opening a coffee/smoothie place on the same premises on the other side of the driveway. They also have a small private parking area if you are dining in or picking up. So if are down in Laguna make sure you stop in and try this new business out! read more

Dont eat here if you want actual good food. I have no idea what they were doing to cook burgers but it was the absolute worst food i have ever eaten. The only taste the burgers had was pure salt and grease.. the buns were drenched in it too. Also the burger meat was pink inside.. disgusting. Literally made my entire friend group nauseous, and I got food poisoning. Also their online menu looked good and said they served tacos, gyros and burgers, but when we got there they told us "oh only burgers now." ABSOLUTELY horrible!! I ordered 2 burritos, one vegetarian and one carne asada. I'm vegetarian and the other was for my husband. We both got home late from work so we were so hungry. They gave us 2 carne asada burritos and I was so upset because clearly I don't eat meat and they got my order so wrong. They closed 5 min later so I was not able to get another burrito. To top that off my husband took a bite into his burrito and there was a huge chunk of paper wrapped inside the burrito. Absolutely disgusting!! Not sure how this place has a 4-star rating, but it must not be for the tacos. My husband got the taco Tuesday street taco special with carnitas & a drink for $10. I got a regular carne asada taco for $7. The carne asada was super dry and only topped with cilantro... on a dry tortilla you can image the amount of saliva it would take to swallow a bite lol. Definitely not worth it for us. Ambiance: none. It stank of cigar smoke from the shop above them. Service wasn't good. The cashier was very confusing. Maybe she was a bit out of it or having an off day, or, worse case she was high. Again, not sure why this place has 4 stars. read more

I have to recommend Coastal Kitchen in Laguna Village for their awesome Smash Burger. Saw someone post about it on Nextdoor earlier this month and finally stopped in last week. Just delicious and a real value for the money. Owner Cyrus was a pleasure to chat with while I waited for my order and he noted that he kept on the cooks from the former establishment, Their Mexican food items are still part of the menu at exceptionally reasonable prices as well, though I did not try them this time.
