Stopped by Rasta Taco and kept it simple this time. Trying to cut calories, so I only ordered one taco instead of my usual "I'll regret this later" combo. Went with the Jamaican jerk chicken taco (most reviewed item on Yelp) and honestly, one was enough because it hit the spot. Super tasty, full of flavor, and everything tasted fresh. No shortcuts here. It comes with a side of chips and that combo was all I needed. Also worth mentioning, this place is on a corner and actually has a few parking spots for customers. That alone deserves appreciation in downtown Laguna Beach where parking is usually a competitive sport. Quick stop, great flavor, left happy. Would absolutely do it again.

Al pastor taco. Jamaican chicken taco. Shrimp taco. Fish taco. Rice and beans.

Laguna Beach is a beautiful place. It's so beautiful, that it's difficult to find parking. Good luck! I didn't do any prior research or planning for this visit. Approached the restaurant and realized it's not a sit down style restaurant. There is outdoor "patio" like seating. Fridays they close at 7pm. The staff member that took our order was thorough in ensuring we ordered all we wanted because the kitchen was closing soon. The menu theme is Jamaican, I guess it's Jamaican x Mexican fusion? Ordered an array of 7 tacos to try. Al pastor & shrimp = best flavor Plantains were just okay. I do have a bias because I'm Central American and these are a must at Grandma's house.

I was not expecting to live everything as much as I did! The meat on all the tacos were juicy and not too fatty. The Al pastor and jerk chicken were my favorite. The service was great for a walk up window and you can never get o wrong with Laguna views!

Stopped here on my lunch break and it was exactly what I needed. I ordered the taco plate special with chips, rice, beans, a fish taco, and a shrimp taco. Both were delicious, but the shrimp taco was the clear standout--so flavorful, I'd come back just for that. I also had their hibiscus tea, and it was so refreshing--lightly sweet, floral, and perfect for a beachside lunch. Bonus points for how vegetarian-friendly the menu is--tons of great options I'm planning to try next time. The staff were warm and friendly, and the beachy, relaxed vibe made it feel like a mini escape from the workday. Highly recommend if you're in the area or just need a good reason to slow down and enjoy the view (and the tacos).

Random stop at Rasta Taco today for breakfast. Saw their billboard for breakfast specials and we decided to give it a try. We bought the breakfast chilaquiles and added chorizo and avocado to it. I'm usually a mild sauce girl, I don't eat a lot of spicy at all so the chorizo had a kick to it! Price was reasonable for the size of the meal! Two of ate and we didn't finish it. The ambiance is casual beach. It was empty when we came in but started to get full closer to lunch. It was overcast and warm so it felt great out, but there are plenty of umbrellas to get shade. Service is great! You order at the window and they bring your food to your table. Felt very personable. Free refills on drinks! Variety on the menu of island food and mexican food. We'll be back to try their jerk tacos!

Cool vibes, efficiency ordering. Nice covered seating area. Reasonable prices Food was ok maybe I should've asked for more heat. It was definitely not over salted like a lot of other food.

Very underwhelming, lacks seasoning or any kind of kick. Salsas didn't help. Carne asada is too chewy. :/
    Aurora L.

The $16 carne asada burrito is VERY underwhelming. Not much flavor/seasoning. Meat is very chewy and there's too much bland basmati rice. Even after adding salsa and tapatio (from home), my taste buds are still very sad. Two stars for the side of fries which were pretty good.

Sorry we didnt waste time with photos, but the presentation was gorgeous, and whole vibe of the restaurant was bursting with happy people and good energy. The views of the ocean were spectacular from where I was sitting, and I'd say it's probably a beautiful spot to watch the sun sink into the ocean! We were lucky to get a same-day, late-afternoon reservation, which was easy enough. There is a charge for cancelations and large parties, but other than that, everything was amazing! Service was phenomenal, even though it was super hot and muggy, no one seemed like they were unhappy to be working there. The restroom was clean, nicely decorated, and whatever scented room freshener they're using made me want to find out how to buy some for myself...lol. The only drawback is the ladies restroom is small, with only two stalls and one sink, so there was a line and it was a little too crowded, especially on a hot day. Otherwise, a top-notch dining experience, and will be our go-to when we spend time in Laguna!

If you treat this location as its own thing, it's honestly really solid. Huge shoutout to Carlos at the register for the excellent customer service. One arrived with mushrooms and avocado; the other had mushrooms only. And somehow, neither one had the grilled onions. ‍ Then came the real test: we ordered a pescado burrito, but asked them to hold the meat (meaning the fish), hold the cheese, and add beans. Three simple requests. Can you guess how many were actually fulfilled? If you guessed one, congratulations--you understand the assignment. The kicker? The cashier entered our requests correctly on the receipt. So somewhere between the cashier and the kitchen, our modifications apparently took a wrong turn. If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, I'd definitely double-check your order before digging in. You may want to verify it twice--or, at this rate, come back in a year when they've had time to work out the kinks. A few other things: * The grooved metal menu makes it surprisingly difficult to read. * The line was long but moved quickly. * Once ordered, the food took about 30-45 minutes. * The small patio's trash can was overflowing, which didn't exactly add to the dining experience. I really wanted to love this place, but when three modifications turn into a game of "Which One Did They Get Right?", it's hard to give a glowing review. Taco Stand, we need to tac-o-bout-it.

Bangers all around. The chicken was superbly spiced and tender, the beans soft and well spiced, the tortillas hot and fresh. Of the lineup, the strongest contender was the guacamole, which had the perfect mix of cilantro, lime, and creamy avocado, one of the best guacamoles I've ever had. I found the steak a little weak, being more beef shavings which were a little tough. Everything came together well to feed our group of five with plenty for leftovers the following day. Not just "not our taste," but shockingly bad for a restaurant that has always been known for its margaritas. We sent them back and asked for beers instead. That's where the service really lost us. Our waitress didn't ask what was wrong, didn't apologize, didn't seem concerned, and made absolutely no effort to fix the experience. She just dropped the Modelos on the table with an attitude that basically said, "Fine, you're a nuisance, here's your beer." The food itself was great, but the service and overall hospitality were genuinely terrible. They also completely forgot the birthday despite it being noted on the reservation. I normally tip 25-30%, but tonight I left 15% and wrote, "Thanks for forgetting my birthday" on the check. That pretty much summed it up.

It just seemed like a standard chain restaurant. It is located walking distance from the beach though.

Laguna Beach: Ample parking and outdoor seating is always a plus in any beach city. We made…read morereservations and glad we did. It was a weekend and the place filled quickly. Loud crowd! Ordered: Salmon Citrus salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and my friend was very happy with the amount of salmon to salad ratio. Attractive dish! Sliced Steak & Potato Salad was a nice portion of sliced steak, a decent warm potato salad, and a great side salad. I can't remember if that was one of her side options, but it was a solid choice. Steak was ordered medium rare and it was definitely all rare - but edible. Sometimes it's not a good option to send it back. Fear of over cook. Blackened Halibut Sandwich was my choice and the fresh tasting halibut was cooked to perfection. I would go lighter on the blackened seasoning next time and skip the non-crispy onions straws. Love those but most definitely they were prepped long before we got there. Minor culinary issue as the halibut sandwich was a delicious combo of fresh ingredients that I had to deconstruct so I could manage to eat it. I think only a mega shark could take a bite of this sandwich as it was meant to be built! So it nicely transformed into a Blackened Halibut Salad plate with a highly recommended crispy Caesar salad for the side. I enjoyed every bite. I would go here again. Service was courteous and prompt, and our food was served on the spot. We were too full to try their recommended warm butter cake. Next time it's Brussel sprouts and desert! Well, maybe a side of a self-deconstructed Halibut Sandwich.
