Very disappointed in food quality and quantity. The egg part was as thin as my bacon! Was that even bacon or fake? Most omelettes I have are at least 2 eggs & fluffy. The veggies, bell pepper, onion & mushroom were not even per-cooked, Raw YUK. One good thing was they did let me substitute the tomato for spinach and that tasted fresh, thank goodness. V-8 Juice, Coffee & toast was good. But those potatoes. Come on; cut the raw potatoes into finger wedges, add spices, salt, pepper & sage;yummie, fry them, served hot. Left San Jose at 6, arrived here around 7:15 to take a break from driving, knock off a bookmark, grab breakfast, and to also let my little one let loose from the car seat. Between the many bookmarked, I am glad I came here because service was friendly and the food was just downright awesome. The menu is extensive. I was bewildered as I did not know what to order. On one hand I wanted a short stack, waffles, a skillet, an omelet, chicken fried steak, eggs benedict - basically the "everything" but I did a smart thing by asking my server what are the popular dishes. I went w/ the Country Omelet w/ Country Potatoes. I also ordered a kids' dish for my little one and a side of grits w/ butter on the side to try it because I have never tried grits. According to Lee J. and Rob A., grits are delicious. The wait is long but that was quite OK for me as I wanted to freshen up anyway and change the little guy. When my omelet was brought out, I swear I can taste it before tasting it. The aroma from the country potatoes, from the gravy, bacon, and onions in my omelet was lingering and alluring. After I gave my son silverware, it felt like I was alone w/ my omelet. The country gravy is... to... die... for... I could drink a gallon of that! So thick, so creamy, and I love the cheese and black pepper on top. My omelet was fluffily dense. The bacon and sausage was cooked just right. The country potatoes are good, the only negative thing I have to say about it was that I wish there were more, haha. The grits on the other hand isn't my thing. Sorry to my fellow Yelpers but I don't think I would try it again unless something other than butter and brown sugar is offered. I put hot sauce over mine but it was still "meh". I tried a piece of my kid's pancake; crispy at the bottom and melts in your mouth overall. It is funny and ironic that he is like me as he ate the whipped cream first and then picked at the pancake. Next time, give me a side bowl of your whipped cream, please! I forgot how much I paid but I had a nice breakfast. The patrons were all Caucasian, I was the odd Asian being but everyone gave out a welcoming vibe. My server was genuine and quick and knows the menu very well. Kudos to that... I wanted to come here because of the good yelp reviews. Came here on a Sunday morning with a couple of friends, the restaurant wasn't busy. We were seated and handed some menus (which are flimsy and big). There were so many options to choose from (really, the menu is filled up! Kinda gave me an eye sore "/). I decided to order the special that was written on the board when you walk in. Egg's Benedict with choice of meat and potatoes. I got it with sausage and hash browns. When my order came, I did not know that the eggs would be swimming in white gravy, it took up half the plate. If I would of known, I would of asked for it to be on the side or something. Overall my breakfast was good, not great. The english muffin had an overpowering buttery taste. I loved the hash browns, so bomb with a shot of ketchup. Came in last weekend to grab an early breakfast. There's a sign that says wait to be seated, so we waited. There were three staff talking and giggling by the register, not paying us any attention. After about three minutes and a loud throat clearing, one of the staff looks over at us and says we can seat ourselves. So we sit down and wait for our menus, which took another 5 minutes. There were a total of three tables besides us, no more than a dozen people inside including us. We place our order and my order comes out wrong. I try to tell the waitress that I did not order what she served me and she began to argue with me that I did in fact order that dish. I told her that we wouldn't be paying for that plate and she said we don't have to pay for anything in a rude tone. Customer service sucked really bad. Standing up talking and making jokes while customers are waiting to be seated is bad. Arguing with a customer over which dish he did or did not order is inexcusable. I don't really like to stop in this place too often because their portion size is really small for their price point and the food isn't good enough to justify those prices for greasy spoon type dining. Simply...the best!!! This place is so very good. I must be in a very good mood lately because this is my second 5 star review in a couple days. I always think there is room for improvement, but not here. I don't care about decor when the food and service is so good. The staff and owner are kind, funny, and engaging. We live in Antioch so we asked a local merchant where the locals go for breakfast/lunch. She told me the Striper Cafe and we've been fans and regulars ever since. You won't be disappointment. Have never had a bad meal and the portions are always generous. We always leave with leftovers for dinner. i really enjoy listening to the locals talk about the local goings-on. We hope to be moving out that way in the near future and the Stiper will be seeing much more of us. read more

Me and my buddies stop here for breakfast anytime we are golfing in the Fairfield area. We usually arrive randomly and need separate checks. The wait staff always handles us nicely. The food is over-the-top good! It's the largest ham steak this side of Albuquerque. Really large portions of fresh, good ole American breakfast comfort food. The first time I stopped here at about 5:30 am the place was rockin with at least a dozen of Fairfield's finest men and women police officers. Was looking for a place to have breakfast with my kids and decided on this place. You seat yourself, plenty of tables and booths, various sizes. Our waitress started off friendly but then after that didn't give us any refills or even check on us after the food was served. The food took quite a long time as well that's why they are only getting 4 stars. The food was yummy! My son had the Create your own omelette with country potatoes and sour dough toast. He said the omelette was delicious. My other son had the French Toast Combo with scrambled egg and 2 pieces of bacon. Also a winner. I had the Croissant sandwich with fried egg, bacon and cheese. Yummy! Portions: My sons meals were a good size! They couldn't finish it all! My Croissant sandwich was on the smaller portion size so if your not that hungry it's perfect. Everything was good. I am new to the Fairfield area and was looking for somewhere to have a mom and daughter brunch with my 10 year old. We noticed they close at 2pm and were hesitant going around 12:45 because some places don't give good food or service if you go close to closing. But we showed up, and had a seat in a booth next to the window. We were greeted by a VERY FRIENDLY server. She seemed like she was excited to meet us unlike most at other places with a dull demeanor. I mentioned we never had been here and she had some great recommendations. She warned me the portions were big but being 8 months pregnant at the time I brushed that off and ordered the two pancakes two sausage two egg combo with a side of hash browns and my daughter also got a pancake combo with sausage and eggs. I should have listened to the server because those portions were huge!!!!! I took home pretty much half my plate lol but that was fine because even as leftovers they were still good later when I reheated them! The food and service are great here and we came back for Father's Day and my husband now likes to come here on Sundays for family brunches and we assumed it would be packed and crazy on Father's Day and we wouldn't get a table , while it was packed with larger families in the back dining areas we still were able to come and get a comfy booth for our family of 5. I really do hesitate to be critical...but...the food was very mediocre. I come to Raul's pretty often but today the service and food were an exceptionally good experience. There were only two servers on staff and they were killing it!! Our coffees and waters got filled quickly before we were out. Food was delicious, hot and out quick! The guy in the kitchen even came out to check how the food was and offered to refill our coffees. The home of Raul's Striper Cafe may discourage many, but looks aren't everything. The sunny voice of "Hello Hun" upon entering gave me a good feeling about the place. Pick one of the many parking slots for your vehicle. Under their roof they have enough elbowroom for visiting customers of all sizes. My clean booth had everything I could ever need including; grape jelly, strawberry jam, liquid creamer singles, tabasco sauce, cholula sauce, tapatio sauce, ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, and salt/pepper. They got it all! #8 Ham, Avocado, Jalapenos, & Swiss Cheese Omelette ($10.10) - The delicious ratio of ham, avocado, jalapenos, melted swiss cheese, and perfectly seasoned egg can surely feed two people. The #8 also included my choice of potatoes and toast. The hash browns were cooked with a slight crisp and salted just right. My pancake wasn't a disappointment either. It was actually fluffy! The prices here are easy on the wallet while hitting the spot. The waitresses were genuinely kind and even good humored when I couldn't decide. I felt comfortable dining here with me, myself, and I.
