This review is long overdue. I usually go to supercuts for haircuts (ouch I know) but a friend of mine recommended I go to Dulce and I'm so happy I did. I had no idea what kind of haircut I wanted. It was a spontaneous day and I was feeling adventurous. When I got there, they told me it'd be a 15 min wait. The assistant washed my hair and stuff. (Her attitude was kind of eh). Dulce then came over, I told her I wanted it short. She cut off 7 inches and I have no regrets! She did an amazing job. It was quick and a really decent price. I'll def be coming back! read more

I don't recommend this salon for a hairstyle or do. Maybe for hair color or haircut but not for a hairstyle ESPECIALLY NOT ON YOUR WEDDING DAY. I went in 3 days before before my wedding, I don't the two ladies there that my hair was long, thick, and heaving. I said that my curls never stayed curled. I asked how much she would charge me, (I had my hair down and it was visible. She stated no more then $75 . I thought it was a great price. And I agreed to book an appointment. I was told I had to leave a $40 deposit, and so I did. The day of my wedding July 28, I went it, the lady there was very nice, had a nice conversations, she curled my hair. She stated that the hair spray was durable, and I assumed that with their techniques , my curls would stay. In addition, she didn't not charge me $75, she charged me $100! $100 fellas!!! I went home and got my make up done, I was not even done getting my make up done, I when already my hair was starting. And that's the last thing I would have wanted the day of my wedding, the anxiety kicked in. Biggest regret of my wedding. My hair looked so ugly. read more

I recently moved here from New York have been searching for a new go to hair stylist... I have short hair that needs to be cut about every 4-6 weeks so I wasn't willing to pay $70 for cut, thought I would give Rave a chance after reading the great reviews... Called same day got an appointment. Good sign When I got there, it was packed with only two stylists working. I'd made an appointment apparently with the older woman ... I sat down and she didn't introduce herself nor did she ask me what I wanted done. Truthfully I'm not sure that she could speak much English. She essentially gave me the worst haircut of my life, only using texturizing scissors around my whole head. Once she'd completed that she began to take the cape off me and brush me off. I asked her if she was finished and she said yeah..... Needless to say it didn't get any better after that ... The next hairdresser I went to asked "what happened to your hair?".. Not sure what went wrong here as all of the other reviews have been great... but be weary... if its not Dulce... don't do it. read more

Violet is the bomb.com and she would have to be to get me to drive from San Francisco to have her rescue my horrendous hair. Christmas eve I decided it was time for a change and went to a salon in SF to get an update to my flowing locks of hair. Since my hair looked straight out of a Texas beauty pagent (read: HUGE) I couldn't tell what the actual cut looked like. Fast forward to Christmas, a self-styled head of hair and what became a week straight of wearing ponytails. The girl cut my hair crooked, and did something chainsaw massacre style to my bangs. Thankfully Violet was able to fit me in before nye so I didn't have to start my new year with some freaky mullet-like hairdo. Although Ms. Violet is a strike for me to get to, I am no longer going to chance my precious hair to anybody else. Looks like I will be seeing a lot more of San Jose from here on out! Violet listens to what you are looking for. Don't know what to ask for? Tell her the important things like how much time you have to style your hair, if you are throwing it up in a ponytail by 10 am or if you just want an update to your Rachel. I have been taking my son here for a while with Vero who is great and decided to get my own hair cu by Dulce. Worst decision ever, my hair was pretty damaged to I wanted it short, I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but she ruined my hair. it is completely uneven and it looks like I have 2 different hair cuts from the front and back. I told her my wedding was that same week and the hair cut she gave me was completely different from what I had shown her. I had to go and get it fixed by someone else but he couldnt do much because she really messed it up. she knew she messed up and didn't charge me for the hair cut but it was all gone anyway. Maybe they are good cutting man's hair but dont even think about getting your hair done here if you are a woman. read more

Dulce rocks!!! Everytime i get a haircut from her I get so many compliments.... If you see any bad reviews (which there is only one, so that should tell you something...) Disregard them! The last time i was there, she had 6 people (mostly guys) waiting for her to do their hair. She had already started on me so while my hair was soaking in color she managed to get through 3 people! Dulce cuts well but she has a big problem with schedules. It happened twice that she called me 5 minutes before my appointment to cancel it. No respect for other's time at all! On one occasion she told me that I had to wait at least for an hour (just when I arrived) before she can start with my hair cut. I ended up leaving of course. I visited this salon today. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was informed that they were running late and asked if I wanted to wait. I assumed that late meant 10-15 minutes as I had an appointment so I agreed to wait. They barely checked in with me after that except to tell me that one stylist was "almost done" and would help me soon. I waited 50 minutes after my appointment time and eventually decided to leave because I did not feel like I received the level of service I should have. The worst haircut I have ever had. Do not go there. I wanted a pixie cut but instead I got a crew cut. The hair stylist took out the electric razor and used it all over my head. Before I knew it My hair was less than one inch long all over. It looks so terrible. I look like I am in the Marines or that I am a cancer patient. I was referred to Dulce at Rave by a stylist that works there part time. She mentioned that Dulce does a great cut so I called and got an appointment the same day. That should have been clue. I had long hair, almost mid back. No real style aside from the framing around the face. I took an older picture of myself with long layers to Dulce and said I would like long layers like the one in the picture. She looked at the picture and said she could do something better. I said ok, sounds great. She then proceeded to literally chop my hair! Never sectioned it off, just picked up pieces of hair and chopped away! In the end, I ended up with something that looked like a mullet! I cannot believe that this person is allowed to come near people's hair. My husband said she should have her hands chopped off! She completely ruined my hair and there is nothing I can do about it. I do believe in Karma though, what goes around comes around. I hope she gets hers! read more

Went for a walk in just to get my hair straighten, I currently hair wavy thick hair and it takes forever to straighten. I walked in and waited about 20minutes for an available hairstylist which was fine by me. Not the best costumer service! No one greeted me or even spoke English and my hairstylist was quiet the whole time. Afterwards I found out she charged me $45! Just to get my darn hair straighten. She didn't wash or trim my hair.. I felt like she definitely overcharged me to straighten my hair! My hair is only shoulder length. I totally felt like I was being ripped off. I could of got my hair cut and styled for $45 at any other salon. Never coming back here again. read more

If you want a salon experience, DO NOT go here. I was excited to get an appointment same day and when I walked in I was greeted by the stylist's "assistant". She asked me what I was looking for and I explained it to her, which was pointless because she did not share the information with the stylist. The "assistant" washed my hair and sat me in the open chair next to the stylist who was finishing a cut on a man. Once she was ready I explained to her how I had a short hair cut that I was trying to grow out. It was longer on the top and shorter on the sides. I explained to her that I wanted to even out the layers but keep as much length as possible, I did not want a mom hair cut. She quickly cut my hair in less than a half an hour and ended up shortening the layers in the back and leaving it long in front, exactly what I did not want. I don't expect high end service at every salon but something as simple as offering water makes it feel like a salon, that never happened. If you want a quick trim or a cut long in front and short in back which she obviously likes to do considering it mirrors her own style then this is the place for you. read more

Lately, I've been cutting my own bangs and procrastinating on a trim. I guess it's a way of saving money! lol. But I thought I'd look around and try a new stylist (I have not found "the one" yet). I scheduled with Dulce a few weeks ago. I chose Rave because of the location (very convenient for me). The parking lot isn't the best considering it's shared with the sidewalk, so a safer option would be the parking lot across the street. Dulce informed me that she would cut my hair but have another stylist (Veronica?) dry it due to a schedule issue with her daughter. That's okay with me, I'm flexible. I asked Dulce for more of current style with lots of layers, and to keep my blunt bangs as is. After my hair was dried and styled, holy smokes-- it's awesome and extremely manageable! I've been getting a lot of complements and I've had a few people say that I look like Elvira without the super volume and exposed boobs! lol Rave is a small salon, luckily I was the only client in during the morning. So, it was nice to talk with Dulce about random things. Veronica didn't talk too much but considering the blow drier was on, I don't blame her. And I did sort of feel like a fish out of water (everyone was speaking Spanish). But overall, I love my hair; Dulce definitely has skills and her prices are very reasonable. read more

This is a super cute little salon where the workers are mostly family and they're all very friendly! I always get my hair cut by Dulce ( theres another woman working there but I've never scheduled an appointment with her) Frankly, Dulce is great! I've been getting my hair cut by her for years, even before she bought her own studio. I've gone through several phases with my hair and she was able to satisfy me with every style I ask for. I find she does a better job when you bring in a picture but all in all she is very good. Recently I came in with my little brother ( 2 yrs) and grandma. They both loved their hair cuts (Yes even the baby) so don't hesitate to bring your children, boys or girls because she is gentle and works well with not scaring the kiddos. I went to numerous places trying to find someone who knew what Bettie Page bangs were, and I ended up with a terrible cut that did the "U" shape in the wrong direction! Wow Dulce has got to be the best when it comes to curly hair cuts (she doesn't leave your hair too short like 95% of other stylists that don't understand curls) and children's hair cuts. I just got my hair cut by Dulce and she butchered my long hair :( I'm never one to talk bad or write a review but the haircut she gave me made me wanna cry. I had hair past my bra strap and asked for a trip/light layers. She gave me what looked to be a mullet and the top part of my hair is about 5 inches and the bottom length in a good 19 inches. Looks horrible! I'm pissed at myself for letting her touch my head. Please spare yourself and find someone else. I need to purchase extentions now :/ fml read more

Now I remember why I choose to cut my own hair, because of shitty experiences like this one. Unfortunately doesn't deserve the one star I gave. I am so upset. I walked in, with no greeting, stairs from the stylists, and then finally a question, Can I help you? Had called earlier for rates on a cut, which were remotely cheap, with an opening. BAD SIGN. Besides that, my hair dresser who I am sure is training, speaks no English. Only Spanish, which made me uncomfortable, along with the increasingly annoying spanish-tecno music? Never consulted with me, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Afterwards, began straitening my hair (which is fine and blonde and already pin straight), I assumed she was an assistant. After brutally damaging the f*ck out of my hair with a flat iron that was completely unnecessary. I briefly consulted with one stylist, who told I wanted just a trim, KEEP THE LENGTH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, light layers was okay, with a rounded shape. She gave me a boxy, two inches cut, that ended me looking like a twelve year old with a choppy f*cked up cut. Well ladies, you get what you pay for. Would never recommend. At the end as upset as I am, Its hair and it will grow back, however my hair will be up in a bun for the next 6 months, awesome. read more
