The location is just west of the intersection with Holland Rd. My most recent visit here was on July 7, 2023. What brought me to bring the dog here in the first place (initial visit was on June 20, 2023)? My dog had a recent hair cut. He had a different groomer this time since the regular one was out on medical leave. Several days after that, he grew a large hematoma on the left ear. We went to our regular vet where they cleaned it up and gave him a drain to let it drain out. Before the scheduled return to the vet, that Friday evening, he was spilling blood around the house when shaking his ears. It was this issue that brought Dobby here for treatment. On the first visit, it was a pretty busy evening. My mom and I had gotten here with Dobby around 9 pm. Dobby was still giving out blood marks in the waiting area. Once we were able take him back to an exam room, it would take a little while for Dr. Baker to come in. I wasn't surprised since it was so busy. After removing the dressing that was there already, he said that the ear had gotten infected and was concerned with that. In the end, he gave us two prescriptions. One was for the infection and the other was for the hematoma. He recommended the Japanese method, which is prednisone until the ear flattens, and then ween off the prednisone. He also recommended we get a No Flap Ear Wrap for him as well. This would help keep the ear stable during this process. We would finish up around 12:30 am and headed home. Over the next several days, we did get that ear flap which seemed to work well with keeping the ear stable. We essentially needed to come back that Friday in order to get a follow up as the hematoma didn't seem to be getting lower. At this second visit, Dr. Baker was glad to see him again since he wasn't sure how the tissue around it was going to fare with the original infection too. The ear was healing nicely for the tissue, so the antibiotic was definitely working on that part. He also checked the hematoma, and he noted that it can take several weeks for the ear to go fully flat after a hematoma. He would prescribe an additional amount of prednisone for Dobby. He also said to keep him on it until the ear flattens, and then would move to the weening off process. There was no exam fee this time. The only cost was for the additional prednisone. Fast forward to the current time. At this point, Dobby's ear has flattened out. He has been off the antibiotics and prednisone now. He is doing so much better now, and he is back to his normal self. Overall, these were both great experiences here. There was a caring staff. If you need to see a vet after hours and isn't a life and death emergency for your pet, this place is worth checking out for your pet companion.

We were quickly seen, had a urinalysis done before making it into the rooms. The vet, vet tech and staff were super kind. Rosie had a thorough exam and we were recommended some OTC products to care for skin issues even though that wasn't why we came. Over all, I had a great experience and would recommend this Vet as a good urgent care center.

They got me checked in, and it was a short wait to see the doctor. I was taken back to my room and the doctor came in within about 5 minutes. The doctor was friendly and seemed to care about getting to the bottom of my health concerns. He ordered my testing and refilled my meds and I was on my way. I was checked out with the lady at the checkout desk. She was very friendly and set up all my appointments with ease. The office is clean with a decent amount of seating in the waiting area, and a tv. The staff and doctor were nice, and I recommend this office for your cardiology needs!!

My mother had an appointment scheduled with Sentara Cardiology on July 8th, but it was canceled…read morebecause the doctor had a meeting. While I understand that schedules can change, what is unacceptable is that after canceling her appointment, the earliest available rescheduled appointment was not until January 2027. For patients needing cardiac care, a delay of more than six months could have serious health consequences. It is frustrating and concerning to have an appointment canceled by the provider and then be told there are no reasonable alternatives available. Patients deserve timely access to specialty care, especially when dealing with potential heart-related issues. We are now having to seek care elsewhere because waiting until 2027 is simply not an option. I hope Sentara reviews its scheduling practices and referral processes so other patients do not face the same situation.
