Not carpaccio. Sold as carpaccio. Tastes great.
    Erica H.

It was nice. Acoustics could use some work, a bit loud. The only place I have ever been where they cooked the carpaccio. It tasted great but was a different dish and should have a name change. The sashimi was nice. Udon was too salty but a great broth flavor behind it. Wagyu nigiri was nice and tender but had too much salt and that was commented by more than one person. Good and friendly service.

Definitely one of the best sushi spots around. Made an order for pick up by phone. This place is always busy so I recommend ordering ahead of time. Ordered the usual items, garlic edamame which is a busy, and then the bts roll and dantes inferno. Everything was great. Tasted fresh. This place will always be my go to for fresh sushi.

Should stop hiring hostesses based on them being cute girls. Theyre simply incompetent. Every to-go order is messed up, between getting inedible food to completely different rolls than ordered. The Dante's roll is slowly approaching $30 while shrinking more and more in size. This was one of the last good sushi places in Modesto and it has fallen victim to greed like all the others. What a shame.

This is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant around. The garlic edamame is out of this world! I could literally drink that sauce lol it's always busy inside but that's because the food is just that good! Sushi is always fresh as well I love the Dante's inferno roll definitely one I order all the time. If I ever feel like switching it up they have so many other rolls I love as well the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, crunch dragon roll, golden shrimp roll all sooo sooo good!

Raw is solid for a nicer dinner downtown. Food is consistent and delicious. The setting is upbeat and lively.

Place is super busy. Host was very nice though. They will call you when your table is ready. Waitress didn't seem very happy and was super emotionally so didn't quite set the scene for the place. Probably would've had a better time and stayed longer if we had a different waitress. Food is OK. The teriyaki chicken seemed to have a lot of sauce on it though I didn't quite enjoy it as much. They have a heavy pour on the drink so that's always a good thing. The roll in the picture I honestly can't remember what it was. again it was just OK.

We made a reservation for Valentine's day. It's highly recommended. The restaurant was packed. We have a favorite booth that we love to sit at. It happened to open up and we ended up there. It worked out perfectly!

Im soo happy to have finally found my go to spot for Sushi locally!!! We moved to Modesto from LA 2yrs ago amd we had been looking for a local sushi place, tried others that people suggested but nothing would hit the spot! My coworker recommended I come here and honestly kudos to her!! We got there 10mins before opening on a Friday night and there were 4 parties ahead of us already! We were seated promptly once they opened our waiter was attentive and efficient. The rolls were delicious, the garlic edamame was soo flavorful! 10/10! Lights are dimmed, it's pretty loud in there but didn't bother us. They have a full bar, they do not have any dessert options bummer! We will definitely be returning!

We come here pretty frequently but finally got to sit at the bar this time and let me tell you it was better than sitting at a table. Our server (Sarah) was very tentative and made sure we were fine. The drinks were delicious and so was the food. The other times we came we sat on a table but the servers don't really come check on us. We will definitely be trying to sit at the bar and requesting the same bartender especially because she made good drinks.

Celebrating a birthday in the 209, Raw Sushi seems to be a spot that a lot of locals frequent, and I get why, the food is solid! We came on a weekend, and the wait time was around 45 minutes for dinner. If you are able to snag a reservation, it's definitely worth it because this place gets packed. With the wait, we started with some drinks at the bar. Modelos are like $6.50 and cocktails are around $15-20. The jalapeno margarita isn't overly spicy but they are strong. Opt for a salt or tajin rim for some extra flavor. Once we sat down, we ordered the spicy edamame for the table to share. And I don't know what they put in that sauce, but damn, I crave these edamame all the time. Good balance of spicy and creamy, 1000% recommend. For dinner my SO and I split a chicken katsu plate and their dante's inferno roll. The chicken katsu was good, although I wish they offered a pork tonkatsu instead. The plate comes with a generous side salad and rice. The dantes inferno roll was just as good as last time. The crispy fried jalapenos are a nice touch. It's one of those rolls that we order every time we visit. If you look at the pricing, it seems kinda steep for the 209, but I think the portion sizes more than make up for it. The portions are huge and most things are enough for two meals for smaller appetites. This is one of those spots that I wouldn't hesitate visiting or recommending if you find yourself in the area.

Came here for lunch after work. I ordered the gin drink, I believe called the Spritz. It was strong! I ordered the California Roll and the crunchy rainbow roll. Both were yummy and filling. We loved eating here. Can't wait to try more rolls next time. P.S. the Japanese version of pot stickers were good.

If you want to take your significant other out for a nice intimate dinner, this is not the place. Heard that this place had great food so I wanted to take my wife out for a nice dinner date. Even though the waitlist was about an hour we decided to wait. It was obvious how loud this place was as soon as we walked in. We were seated next to a table of 8 individuals. Immediately after being seated it was apparent that this table were be extra loud and belligerent, specifically one of the guys. We politely asked the waiter if we could be moved to a table away from this party. Even another table next to us asked to be moved. The waiter was able to move the table of 4 sitting next to us to another table but informed us that he was not able to find a table for us. By the time our food came out we were so fed up with this large party next to us being so loud and obnoxious, that we just told the waiter to box our food up. I'd rather just enjoy my food in the comfort of my home. We couldn't enjoy ourselves. Just observing other tables around this loud table it was apparent that we weren't the only ones displeased with how loud they were being. I wish the management had a little more control of their establishment when it comes to situations like this. Food was ok, not good enough to put up with the environment you are trying to enjoy it in.

The problem was they clearly specified ANY APPETIZER of your choosing numerous times. My wife got the chicken katsu dinner and vegetable tempura also. Dinner plate comes with salad and miso dressing- which is a bit like thousand island in color and taste. As well as miso soup. Reason this is my go to Japanese restaurant is I like how their chicken teriyaki is cooked. It's basically char grilled , dark meat which gives it the best flavor. And the teriyaki sauce is a bit thicker and stays on the meat compared to another Japanese place I've reviewed that I didn't like their watery sauce. Service was great. They didn't rush us to finish our food and our waiter informed us about the kitchen closing in 10 mins and asked if we wanted anything else. So that was nice.
