We decided to go here after reading all the 5 star reviews. The pictures looked amazing and the reviews were incredible. Now to be fair, my wife and I live in Hawaii, we travel a lot and eat a lot of sushi. Maybe by Coeur d'Alene standards this is good, but not by ours. It was a cute looking food truck, but the food wasn't anything special at all. We ordered a bunch of different rolls. Some of their "specialty" rolls are standard fare on most sushi restaurant menus, while others were a little creative. The tempura rolls we had "Bruce Lee," and "Vegas" were overcooked, so much so that the fish inside was fully cooked. The other rolls we had the fish was fishy and just not that tasty. The spring rolls tasted like they were out of a box, which they probably were. The wasabi was interesting to say the least. The ginger was nasty to say the best and the soy sauce was made by a Chinese company in California and was extra extra salty. I don't know where all these five star reviews came from. I'm guessing that a lot of them were paid for or friends of the owners. Probably not the worst sushi we ever had, but nowhere near the best. We really wanted to like it, but it was expensive and just off. read more

This sushi truck was okay for a quick lunch. Service was prompt and prices were reasonable. Overall, I would give my lunch a C+/B-. I thought the krab mix was way too sweet and too light on tobiko. The use of ingredients in the rolls was a bit inconsistent and messy overall: some of the avocado was overripe and some pieces of the roll didn't contain any avocado; some pieces had a lot of krab mix and some didn't; the salmon was in oddly cut pieces that didn't stay in the roll well at all. Between the two, the North Idaho roll was definitely a better and more interesting bite with the salmon and green onion flavors. The truck could benefit by tightening up the presentation and consistency of the rolls, as it could have been a B+/A- with more attention to detail. read more

We absolutely love sushi and love this place. My daughter and I make the long drive for this sushi and hands down the best in CDA. The Godzilla, Bruce Lee and the Caterpillar Roll are our favorites. It's a food truck, so we order our rolls, eat in our car while listening to a little music and talk - kind of like a little 45 minute get-a-way. Great! read more

I am so surprised that sushi from a food truck could taste SO good. I admit I was super skeptical especially since sushi from around here even in a restaurant that is mediocre at best. Being that this was our first time ordering from here we went super safe (I know boring, but food poisoning is no joke) and ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll and California roll. Raw Dead Fish is a place worth checking out ! The fish was fresh and delicious. The chefs are polite and on-the-ball, if you are in a rush. The big roll in the pic is the Sushirrito, a burrito style roll loaded with 3 different kinds of fish that u can take on the run and eat with your hands. I usually call ahead and place my order for pick-up and the phone is always answered enthusiastically (you can feel, through the phone, that these people love what they are doing). After ordering, I almost always hear, "Okay, sounds great...we'll have this ready for you, in no time!". I don't even feel the need to point out a specific roll, over any others, because all of them, are just so fresh, designed with care and executed beautifully. I also think that the prices are more than fair. The rolls range in price from $6-$15ish, with plenty offerings in the mid-range of the spectrum. Fresh tasting sushi and well balanced toppings/combinations of ingredients, it doesn't get any better than that. It was a bit windy/chilly out when we went and that made the wait kind of worse than it really was. Was toolin' around Coeur d'Alene with a friend and she was craving sushi, so after reading the Yelp reviews we decided to give Rawdeadfish a shot. It is located in a parking lot away along with a few other food trucks. They did a great job decorating the front with live plants. There is also a cute seating area with cushions next to the truck. Good menu options. I got the caterpillar roll, and it was pretty tasty--generous portion of eel, nice fresh avocado, and the sauce was dialed in. I'm confiscating one star because our 2 sushi rolls took 20 minutes to make, making it hard to imagine being able to pop in on a lunch break to grab a quick sushi bite. I have not been able to motivate myself to come back here since I received terrible customer service.
