Eating is an adventure and there are many unexpected experiences. Rayoog is one of those wonderful places. I was not sure what to expect as I entered at lunch time with a friend. A bicycle on the wall and tablecloths on the table. As we were seated we were given water elevated with fruit in the pitcher, and a small cup of curried lentils soup. It was not overpowering and suitable for those of an inexperienced palate. The menu is unique and many a la carte items are available. The dessrts looked great but we chose the egg dishes. These each come with a small side salad and 4 large flat bread. They were soft and delicious and perfect for gathering the diced vegetables and flavors from the skillet. They work great to tear a piece and eat with the egg and sautéed ingredients. The eggs are not "diner" cooked but seem more steam prepared similar to a correct poaching method which is more culturally traditional. The skillet of 3 eggs was a large portion and with the other dishes was exceptional. I also have to brag on the Turkish coffee- if you have ever had good Turkish coffee, you know the difference. This was not bittter, nor acidic and contained the flavor profile of cardamom. It was tremendously fulfilling as the last time I had it prepared this well was in Damascus. It came with 2 lumps of sugar but I drink it without anything. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this café, and the couple who run it to a great job with their food. If you love authentic Mediterranean food, you must come here. Plenty of variety, and you will enjoy a lovely meal with all the flavors: sweet, savory, spicy, rich. The staff are all lovely and helpful. A wonderful, delicious experience. Things to consider: there is an outdoor seating area with misters, but it would probably not be super comfortable if you're an out-of-towner, the inside space is nice and clean, but not large, there is no true kids menu, but my children (ages 9,7,2) still found things they liked BUT are more adventurous eaters, in general. read more

Rayoog Cafe has an incredibly cute and clean interior. If you only care about ambiance and not the food quality and service, Rayoog Cafe can be a nice hangout and instagrammable spot. My partner and I arrived at a time where about 1/3 of the cafe was filled with customers, but had already received their food. We were seated and given utensils and cups, but no water. We placed our order for the Arabic Way set and cheese boat. When the food arrived, it was missing the hummus, and although the waiter moved our clearly empty water cups to make room, we still weren't offered any water. We had to flag them down again later to finally receive water. The waiter said our cheese boat would come in a bit because it was still in the oven. When it came out, it was cold. In fact, our flat bread, eggs, and sausages came out cold too. The best tasting part of the Arabic Way set was actually their falafel. It's probably the best falafel I've had in Arizona so far. It's unfortunate they don't offer a larger portion of it that you can order separately. A side order only comes with 1. The rest of the accompaniments did not wow. There were also egg shells in our eggs :( the sausages tasted and looked like hotdogs too. It looked like the staff were much better about checking in on the other customers, but not us. We had to go up to pay rather than receiving a bill too. We were so excited about trying Rayoog Cafe, but were left pretty disappointed and would not be returning or recommending this spot to friends. read more

Rayon Cafe is tucked on the corner spot of the plaza and with a modern insider we stopped by for a late lunch. We opted for the Special Mam's to enjoy a smorgasbord of some of their offerings. The meal started with a nice and simple lentil soup and was followed by the rest of the specials. The presentation alone is absolutely beautiful. The tray includes tea, marinated veggies, dips, cheeses, preserves, pita, Shakshuka Egg & their cheese boats. It's really a fun way to dine especially with multiple people. All the food was quite tasty, It would have been nice if there was a tad bit more of a break down of the offerings, best ways to pair and etc. it should pictures in the menu, but it's hard to decipher and involved just trying things. We had lots of leftovers, so go hungry, expect leftovers or enjoy with more than two friends. The service was friendly enough, a tad slow in the kitchen since there were only a few guests, but I don't mind waiting for a nice experience. Tried this place on a whim for Saturday morning and boy did we get lucky! A lovely cafe for what appears to be Turkish and Iraqi food. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated. The complementary lentil soup was served hot and it was glorious!! Followed by Aribic tea which is the best tea I have had in a LOOOOG served in a nice teapot. Hubby and I decided to split the Arabic Way which was a wise choice given the quantity of food. The falafels were unlike anything I have eaten before, crispy and savory and none of the disgusting lumpy core that you find at other establishments. The hummus and babaganoush were fine quality and well complemented by the bread. I just LOVED the consistency and taste of the yoghurt. Finally the egg and sausage dish was superb and I really appreciated the owner making the eggs well done just as I had requested. The ambience and modern and eclectic. There is some seating outside which I fully intend to try in the winter months! Rayoog has just become by go to place for Mediterranean/middle eastern food. Fantastic! I saw an Instagram reel for this place and knew I had to try it. So glad I did. What a gem and a new favorite breakfast/brunch spot. We ordered the mams platter. Comes with a variety of items to try from eggs served your way, we did scrambled, and I don't usually care for eggs but these were in a tomato based sauce that was very good. I don't like writing reviews like this but it needs to be brought to light in order for Rayogg Cafe to ensure it doesn't happen again to other customers. We came in for brunch to celebrate a birthday in our group and were looking forward to trying some of the food selections from the menu. Unfortunately we didn't get that far as no one came to our table to help us. We opted to sit outside on the patio for more space even tho it was just over 100 degrees outside but felt a bit cooler on the patio due to the large fan and shade. Not a single server came buy to offer us water or to even acknowledge that they would be with us when they had a moment. The other tables around us were being served repeatedly but still no acknowledgement that we were there. After 20 minutes of being ignored and starting to feel the heat with no water to even sip on, we decided to leave. I hope this was just an oversight on their part and not because of any other reason why we didn't receive service. Unfortunately I do not feel that it was an oversight on their part. read more

Although it doesn't specifically state this on the menu, the VIP breakfast is a Turkish breakfast. And it's great! I've been to Turkey and the breakfast experience there is like no other so I'm so glad I found this place to be able to share in the experience with my friends and family here. They bring out a plethora of foods and dips and sauces and spices and not knowing exactly what everything is you just start dipping and eating away. Considering how much food you get it's definitely worth the price. Four of us shared it and we were stuffed by the end. The food came out pretty fast considering how much it was and how busy the restaurant was. The vibe felt like a real European restaurant (minus the cigarette smoke but yes with the slower than what Americans are used to service). Ordered Mam's special, comes with pretty much everything: jam, cheese, potato kibbeh, clotted cream, cheese roll, pickles, eggplant salad, hummus, and tea. On the side also, you get shakshouka eggs and two cheese boats. Hummus was not my favorite but everything else was. They need bigger tables to be honest for this beautiful spread. The tea is delicious, whether items the plain tea that came with the food or the karak we ordered separately at the end. Everything they serve is halal. Prices are average and ambiance is beautiful outside. We recommended it to family and friends and will be returning. read more

The food here is amazing and so is their coffee. Service feels a bit off... we had to constantly ask for water refills and they rarely came up check to see if we needed anything. Having to flag someone down all the time gets tiring. On top of that, when I went to pay, I noticed a $2.50 transaction and the tip options started at 20% and went up by 5% increments. Sorry but if you want anything above a 20% tip, you have to at least refill my water and come by to see if we need anything. read more

So grateful our friends found Rayoog Cafe because I've search high and low for great Middle Eastern food like I had when I traveled to Israel and Jordan and haven't had great success....until today! Sitting at the end of a strip mall Rayoog May not look like much from the outside but wow!!! It was an experience that we won't forget and will absolutely come back for! The manager/chef was so kind and patient. And our server was absolutely the sweetest - they both made us feel like we were eating in their home. It was very busy at 12:00 on Sunday but they were very apologetic about the wait - but honestly we didn't care bc the food coming from the kitchen looked amazing and the place was filled with happy faces. The nice touch of fruit infused water was great and the complimentary lentil soup (so delish)! The four of us shared the VIP meal and added a cheese boat too. It was a fantastic selection of hummus, cheeses, babaganoosh, tahini, jams, eggplant dish, hard boiled eggs, shashuka and so much more - it was a flavor profile that's Indescribable and worked cohesively to great a culinary experience you'll be talking about for days! The addition of the cheese boat was a wise choice - the flashy pastry was absolutely delightful!!! All the food was homemade and you could tell with passion and love! I love this Mediterranean restaurant that specializes in Arabic cuisine! After first seeing them on Instagram, I became intrigued! I never seen a Mediterranean meal served this way. Korean, yes, but not Mediterranean. When we arrived, we were immediately seated in a booth closest to the kitchen. Our menus were handed to us and we were immediately served with their complimentary Curried Lentil soup and water. Man o' man that was some delicious soup. I wanted to asked for another bowl, but couldn't sum up the nerve to ask. I ordered The VIP Rayoog, which is actually a meal that serves a family or group. It consisted of twenty three Arabic breakfast dishes. Plus I ordered a Turkish coffee. The VIP spread was delivered and methodically arranged on the table. I could tell that the server had a specific place setting for each dish. I wish I could tell you what each dish was, but there were cheeses, kibbeh rice, fruit boat, nuts, herb, yogurt, blueberry jam, mango jam, bread, fava beans, olives, eggplant salad, seasoned boiled egg, butter and molasses, Greek salad, hummus, tahini and molasses, and the main dish of Shakshuka. We ordered the Special Mam's and an extra tray of Pastrami with Egg--it was so delicious that we couldn't resist a second round. I love Mediterranean food so I was excited to try this new cafe. The place is clean, we were greeted and seated right away and our waitress took our order at a timely manner. The complimentary pita and lentil soup are yum. I like how the water comes with fruit and basil in it. But if you don't like that, make sure you ask for plain water then. My shakshuka, cheese boat and lotus milkshake were delish, I recommend!!! Theeeeen my friend received her avocado toast. She lifted up the fried egg to get some avocados for her baby and we were shocked. They were stingy and black, basically old and super ripened - I attached a picture. She told the waitress who quickly apologized and brought out a new one and it was much better - I attached a picture. I'm not sure if he was the manager or owner but he came by to apologize, which was much appreciated. But he said that avocados ripen quickly and out of their control. This is very true BUT unless this avocado toast was prepared last night (oh my lawd I hope not), avocados don't ripen that quickly as soon as you cut and place them on the toast. Did the chef not look at this dish before it went out to us? Lols You can't serve that to customers! So we would have rather he just apologized and left it at that rather than give us some b.s. explanation.... Sooo I'm not telling you all to avoid Rayoog, give them a try. My dishes were delish. I've been wanting to go here for awhile. I've missed this sort of breakfast from Turkey. The water had mint, lemon and melon in it. I really enjoyed the water. We wanted so many things from the menu, so we will return for more later. We went with the Special Mam's, it had a lot of what we wanted. We thought the picture showed honeycomb soaked with honey, so we were looking forward to that, but the Special Mam's didn't come with it.. :(, we were a bit saddened by it. But everything came out perfectly!! All the sides were so fresh! The fruits, cheese, jam (my favorite) tasted all so fresh! The tea was very very good!! Where to start? The eggs were over hard and cold when we asked for over easy. The sausage was more like cut up hotdogs. The naan bread was cold and leather like. The hummus was bland and tasteless. The salad had chopped up core in it. The only thing that was good was the cheese boat. We asked if we could taste the Turkish coffee before we ordered it and they wouldn't even give us a taste. I went with a friend to Rayoog Cafe for a unique brunch experience. Other than the Salami and Egg dish, it didn't really feel breakfast-ish. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, just leaned more towards lunch than brunch. My friend and I were seated and immediately served lentil soup. It was warm, and good...a nice welcome to the restaurant. We decided to split an order of the Arabic Way and Salami Cheese Boat. The Arabic way consisted of the Salami and Egg dish, hummus, falafel, salad (no dressing), sour cream (yogurt), fava beans, baba ghanogh and naan bread. The eggs were prepared perfectly and they were quite good with the salami. The hummus wasn't as thick as I'm use to but it was still tasty. The fava beans were something I'd never tried but I enjoyed. This was also my first time tasting baba ghanogh. I didn't love it. I will be open to trying it again, at another restaurant but I wasn't a fan of this dish. I very much enjoy the salami cheese boat. A very cheesy bread! Yum! Splitting all those dishes was a smart way to sample things I'd never tried before. The service was good, the restaurant was clean and the parking lot was adequate. The decor was similar to most Mediterranean restaurants I've eaten at before. We arrived shortly after 10 am on a Thursday and we were seated immediately but shortly thereafter business really picked up.
