    Chopped pork
    Susan P.

Long road trip. After 12 hours of driving I needed a good meal that could be delivered and I was in Memphis so BBQ was a must. Ray's was nearby so I put together a quick order. My lord the food! Massive quantities of the real deal. I order the Polish Piggy platter and feasted on three different varieties of pork, chopped, ribs and a polish sausage and sides galore. The chopped is moist and has just a touch of sauce as the meat carries itself. The ribs had a good bark and were tender and that polish sausage mmmmm! Sides were solid even the bbq spaghetti, a new one for me. Skip the fancy and go for good solid q.

Drive by was scary looking. But, people inside were really nice and the food lived up to the "world famous" moniker. It was the best BBQ I'd ever had. Full disclosure... I'm a northerner without an experienced bbq pallet. But still, thick sauce... tender, richly flavored meat, tubbie of slaw on the side was sharp flavored - and fresh! These guys are worth the trip across the bridge to Arkansas

Building so you can find it. Great location close to highway.

Best ribs I've ever had in my long life. Awesome smoke, great bark. Good service at the takeout window. I had the baked beans and Mac n cheese as sides. Beans were good, mac n cheese needed much more cheese it tasted like plain elbow macaroni, maybe they forgot to add the cheese to my order? I got sides of regular and "killer" bar b q sauce. Both tasty. The killer sauce fails to kill, but does have a zing. I highly recommend this establishment.

    BBQ Spaghetti and coleslaw

This was the worst food ever‼spaghetti is full of sugar and bbq sauce and it's still didn't have any flavoring and The coleslaw tasted spoiled ‼ I gave this place a 1 rating because the fish was okay and I did manage to forcefully eat it since I did pay $10 for this plate..If there was anyway that I could get a full refund I would gladly give them the entire plate back...So can anyone tell me what World is this food famous in ⁉⁉ Definitely not the US

Small Pork Plate, Mac and Cheese, and Baked Beans

The pork sandwich tasted good but other BBQ places in Memphis are better. The Mac and cheese was bland, and I didn't have any salt to put on it. The baked beans were really good.

Full rack of ribs and the polish pig platter

Good Memphis BBQ. They deliver! HUUUGE portions! They will feed you, your mother, the Horse You Ride In On and STILL have leftovers! The location is a small hole-in-the-wall sort of place, small tables but friendly folks and Ray, himself, jumps on the CB to drum up business. We ordered the rack of ribs and I think I got both sides of the hog! Hubster ordered the Polish Pig Plate which comes with a sausage, ribs, chopped pork, spaghetti, baked beans, potato salad and slaw. Wow. So much food, I'm tired just from typing it all! I posted a picture... We will definitely be back!

Rays is just off the interstate which makes it a convenient stop! Order at the window and drive away or eat outside at the picnic tables. We made it just before the crowd. My pork was fatty which I don't like but the sauce was delicious and sweet.

Beef ribs, BBQ spaghetti and fries.

The food was flavorful and cooked to order. The fish and potato salad was awesome. The beef rib were good as well. The staff was friendly. When in the area, we will return.

It's divey as hell. Can't wait to try the food.

Poor quality and fatty meat. Some of the food appears to be be made days earlier so there's that. Would not recommend.

Great food. You'll miss it if you blink twice. Only reason not five stars is the sides are very small.

There was a time when Central barbecue was the only place I would eat barbecue in Memphis. But food…read moreand service has ruined that. I visited the downtown location on 5/24/26 at 6:15 PM. I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

There is plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We went inside and found it to be pretty busy, but we got a table for 4 quickly. The place was clean and homey-feeling and I loved the fact that they used disposable plates, utensils and napkins! It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The food was just great, chicken was juicy and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Beans and Mac and cheese, delicious! I ate all of it even though I was stuffed. I even went so far as to order a piece of pecan pie for dessert, but unfortunately our server came back out to tell us they were out of it! Guess it wasn't meant to be (this time)! Our server was really friendly during our whole meal, chatted with us a little and made sure we had a great experience! Bottom line.... Go to Gus's!
