My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch after debating between nearby BBQ places for a while. This was a first time visit for both of us. We split the half rack with 2 sides each. We chose the wet option so it came sauced already. The sides we picked were cole slaw, loaded potato salad, and baked beans. All of the sides were good! The loaded potato salad was my favorite. I could eat that all day. The baked beans had some kind of seasoning that reminded me of Christmas. I wasn't the biggest fan, but my bf didn't mind. The ribs were fall of the bone. The sauce was tangy and sweet. Our server was friendly and more than willing to provide recommendations. We sat at a table off to the right, but the dining room was spacious and sectioned off into smaller rooms. Parking is right out front on the street.

Best bbq I've had in Memphis. The half and half plate was a good choice. Chopped pork had deep smoke flavor and not heavily sauced. The famous barbecue spaghetti had plenty of sauce. It was delicious. Slaw was good as was the sweet tea. Friendly table service. Reasonable prices.

I preface this by saying, I'm a Texan and no BBQ outshines TX BBQ. With that said, I was in town for a funeral and quite hungry after landing at MEM. I asked the rental car attendant for a BBQ recommendation and the BBQ Shop was it. We ordered the 1/2 chicken and brisket dinners with baked beans and potato salad. Reasonably priced bbq drenched in BBQ sauce . It was tasty. Not TX deliciousness. Merely edible. Brisket was a tad dry. Potato salad and baked beans were good. Again, not great. Edible. Chicken was drenched in bbq. Would I return? I dunno. Maybe, if I'm back in town for another funeral.

Such a great Memphis BBQ experience! We got the sampler with a little bit of everything and added extra ribs so we could try more of the dry rub and wet/dry ribs. Everything was awesome. My family liked the dry rub ribs the most, but the wet/dry ribs were definitely my favorite. The combination of the sauce and dry rub was perfect. We also had to try their famous BBQ spaghetti. It was definitely interesting, but surprisingly really good and something I'm glad we tried! What really made the experience stand out, though, was our server Rob. He took better care of us than just about any server we've ever had. He was incredibly helpful, made sure we got to try everything we wanted, and genuinely made the whole experience that much better. Great food, incredible service, and an awesome introduction to Memphis BBQ. We'll definitely be back if we're ever in Memphis again!

My family and I decided to eat barbecue about three weeks ago on a Friday night. We went a little early so that we can maybe beat the rush of people going to see the grizzlies game. Our server was excellent. She was very attentive and took care of us while we were there. Shoutout to Tasha! (I think that was her name or Natasha) We had to wait for a table since we did not have a reservation. We ordered way too much food but had plenty of leftovers. We ordered three BBQ shop specials that included pulled pork, some ribs, toast, beans, brisket, and bbq spaghetti. We ordered two entrees of BBQ spaghetti in addition to the other food. We had enough to feed a small army! The restaurant is fairly large with a full bar. There are many tables and chairs. Restrooms are in the back and are adequate. Food Network has voted their ribs as the best! It is even printed on the menu. We had such a great time dining together and making memories. I am sure we will return.

Love love love this place very friendly staff. Tina was our server last night. We tried the barbecue spaghetti it's definitely a hit and well worth trying put some of that hot hot sauce on! We had the barbecue Chef special with beef pork and three ribs, beans, coleslaw and Texas toast, and it came with a side of barbecue spaghetti! The ribs were incredible, get the dry glazed! We polished it off with a chocolate silk cake, and cheesecake!

I always go for BBQ when I visit Memphis no matter what. We were strolling through the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art for a couple of hours & The Bar-B-Q Spot was maybe 10 mins away and we made that move. Walking up to the door, there's art that states that they're voted #1 by Food Network (for their ribs). Something that stuck out to me on the menu is that there were veggie options for the non-meat eaters. There's a veggie burger & a black bean burger (which is what my partner went with). She said the black bean burger was good. I went with the polish sausage sandwich along with the baked beans. The beans weren't the usual, I'm used to beans that are on the sweet end while these had a tang & was sweet (real subtle) on the aftertaste. The sandwich came with slaw & I'm real picky when it comes to that, I enjoyed it this time around as the sandwich wasn't slathered with it (which is what I like). I went with the Texas Toast as my bread compared to the buns, the meal left me full enough to be able to move around some more. Also, I couldn't tell if sauce was on the sandwich, if not, it didn't necessarily need it. There was some BBQ sauce (Carolina BBQ sauce maybe?!) that was in a bottle on the table & I liked it when I tried it here & there on the sandwich. Customer service was nice from all of the staff members that were on deck (I was also paying attention to others who were getting served & everyone was really nice & friendly). Our waiter was nice & consistent, wait on the food didn't take long at all. Next time around, I'm going to go for the ribs.

I really like this place. Had the ribs tonight. Really really good. Not fatty, very tender, big serving, came with baked beans (not bad, not amazing) and we got potato salad as our second side, which was very good. They were pretty quick. Not too expensive. Friendly service. They did forget the order of onion rings we wanted, but we had so much food we chose not to mention it. I would definitely come back.

We had a 10/10 experience here in Memphis at The Bar-B-Q Shop. The food was outstanding, including the very unique and delicious BBQ spaghetti and BBQ bologna. We ordered both glazed and dry rub ribs which came with coleslaw, beans, and Texas toast. My son also wanted to try out the beef brisket and pulled pork sandwich. We got everything and it was so good. Our server, Robert, did a wonderful job recommending and curating our order. The owner Eric was nice enough to bring out the BBQ bologna and spaghetti, on the house! We traveled from Austin TX to Memphis, and The Bar-B-Q Shop definitely made the trip worth while.

Well this was the most highly recommended BBQ spot by all our friends from Memphis. We have watched the YouTube video by Jolly and just didn't get the same food quality or service. We are certain our waitress was having a bad day or something as 2 of the 5 plates had the wrong food. She had to come out and verify the orders multiple times but still got it wrong 2 of 5. The food: OMG. All the proteins were cold and had zero flavor. We thought it was leftovers from the night before as we had lunch at noon on a Saturday. If you didn't drown the beef or pork in sauce you would have thought you were eating cold rubber. The sample platter with fried sausage and bologna with cheese and crackers for $23 is a total waste of money. Cheese cubes from a bag and one slice of bologna cut in strips with 1/2 of a sausage cut in slivers was rediculous. This is not a BBQ place I would recommmend

Good service & good food! The bbq cheese plate was a big hit! The bbq spaghetti was kinda smoked but still good! The vibes were on point and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. It's my first time in Memphis and I can't wait to come back for more.

The bbq ribs, bread, bologna sandwich were amazing...!! The house made coleslaw was super unique and the house made bbq hot sauce was superb not your traditional bbq sauce but it pairs well with the pork ribs!! We tried both the dry and wet rub for the pork ribs and honestly I thought the dry was slightly better!! Definitely a must visit!! The server was attentive and kind and made sure everything was going well. It was a cute shop in the middle of the street/strip. Definitely a must visit!!

Food was good! Came out fast! The BBQ spaghetti was the star of the show. The dry rub Ribs were cooked a little more than I liked but they were still good and the wet ribs were perfect!

I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.
