Great company! Very professional and excellent service. Finished on time, use quality material and give us good price. Cleaned up and removed all debris at the end of each day. We are very happy with our new backyard

    What was advertised

DO NOT do business with this company without caution. I own several rental properties and have been renovating over the summer. I needed clean soil to fill some holes and a small pond in the backyard area. I found their post on Facebook Marketplace advertising clean, rock-free soil, with a photo clearly showing just that. (The picture showed actual soil clean) After a few messages, they confirmed delivery at 7 a.m., giving me time to move my vehicles, lay a tarp, and prepare. Instead, I got home from work at 5:30 p.m. to find a massive dump truck outside at 6 p.m., eleven hours early with no notice. Moments later, I received a text apologizing for the "mix-up." As I scrambled to move things, the driver backed up within inches of my garage foundation and dumped what was absolutely not soil. It was full of rocks, concrete chunks, nails, screws, broken glass, metal, water bottles, and trash, literal construction debris. I tried to stop the driver, but he didn't speak English, refused to engage, and left immediately after dumping part of the pile on my neighbor's grass and along the side of my house. My son and I took photos immediately. This was clearly waste they were trying to get rid of--not the clean, rock-free dirt they advertised. When I contacted them the next morning, the person was apologetic and claimed they had no idea. I reminded them the post clearly misrepresented the material. They then told me to "sift through the pile" so they could pick out the junk. This was 10 yards of debris, an outrageous request. Despite the inconvenience and having to pay three days' worth of parking passes because my driveway was blocked, I remained patient and sent photos. They promised pickup the next day. That day came and went, no one showed up. I followed up again and was told "end of day." Still nothing. At that point, I explained this was now a safety hazard, that it bordered on vandalism and false advertising, and I expected it to be resolved. Instead of apologizing, they got defensive and rude, even insulting my intelligence by suggesting I must be using some kind of platform to write my messages because I "sounded too professional." That was the final straw. I come from a family of contractors and lawyers, I know what my rights are, and I made it very clear that what they did was unethical and possibly illegal. Eventually, I received a call from someone named Elissa. She was aggressive, talked over me repeatedly, and demanded I sign a waiver before they brought equipment to clean up the mess they created. When I read the waiver, it made no reference to the actual issue or protecting my property. I refused to sign anything that could waive my rights or open the door to more damage, especially from a company that had already illegally dumped debris on my property. When I pushed back, Elissa tried to blame a third-party hauler and said they "couldn't control what's in the soil." Had they communicated that upfront, or that a third party was delivering, it would have been an easy no. We would have avoided this entire situation. I told them if I had to hire a junk removal company, I expected full reimbursement--including for the parking fees. They did come out and clean up the mess. The crew that arrived was very polite, respectful, and did not damage my property. They swept and hosed down the area thoroughly, and the cleanup itself was done professionally. For that, I am grateful. I'm not here to slander their landscaping business, I can't speak to that side of their work. But I am here to warn people: read the reviews, get everything in writing, and make sure communication is crystal clear before agreeing to any delivery or service. This company severely mishandled the situation, and although they eventually made it right, the stress, time, and cost on my end were entirely avoidable. Proceed with caution

    Landscape design absolute beautiful job

I want to take the time to recommend Thomas Razo for an absolute beautiful job! He designed our landscape and masonry flower beds! Extremely professional and commutative the project took 3 months however totally worth it! Thank you razo!

We hired Razo landscapers to remodel our very sad and ugly back yard. From the beginning Thomas Sr. Was easy to work with and seemed eager to help us realize our dream yard. The work that was done was beyond beautiful. Thomas Sr. made suggestions along the way, things I would never have even thought of in a million years. He truly is an artist and it's obvious he loves his job and cares enough to deliver amazing results. The yard was promised and delivered on time in 6 weeks. Thank you to all the staff that worked tirelessly on our home, Thomas Sr, Thomas Jr. Jesse and Jesus! Extra shout out to Jesus for making friends with our sassy German shepherd dog Maggie. She misses her buddy! Jesus did beautiful brick work for us. Please thank all the others who contributed towards our yard. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Mr and Mrs Robb.

    Stained, two toned cement

My husband and I bought a house in May in the Lakewood area that needed some fixes before we moved in two months later. We were looking for cement replacement to add steps and redo the whole driveway and backyard and contacted Razo to come out and give us a quote. He stated he could do all the work we wanted, and could start that next week and be done before we moved in since I was pregnant and would be bringing home a newborn shortly after moving in. We agreed on a set price for everything we wanted and he went to the house two days later to start the work. As they continued to work, he kept trying to add on extra money for what was agreed upon on the initial meetup. We ended up settling for what was not agreed upon since we didn't have extra money to put into the project even though what he quoted at the beginning had included our wants. We moved in and they didn't finish for two weeks after. On top of that, part of the work they did was not clean work. The coping sealant around our pool was completely rushed. There's a metal bolt INSIDE the cement on our driveway so now there's a hole with rust on it. The cement is completely stained, two toned everywhere and not one solid color and is uneven so when we clean the backyard with the hose, water rushes into our garage. The steps in the back already have cracks all over them. On top of all that, they kept dumping cement on our grass and walking all over it while working so now our front lawn is dead with cement stuck in it. We tried reaching out to Thomas multiple times for him to fix this, and he continued to make excuses every time. He even went as far as telling us the cement is stained because we didn't wet it with a hose the 3 days it was drying for and that's "our job as the house owners" (mind you, we were not living in the house while they were pouring the cement) One time he finally said he would come back to fix it in a week- that was back in July and we're now in mid September. I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING WITH HIM. The work you get will cost you more in the long run. We are now contacting lawyers to take care of this because he does not want to own up to the horrible job. I'm attaching pictures of work for reference

However, when I first met Mr. Lee and started discussing the project, I just knew that he was the one to hire due to his confidence and expertise in his field. I felt a strong sense that he wasn't out to get me, but rather to honestly help me and rebuild the wall with budget in mind. I chose Lee's over two other previous bids, and I am very glad I did. On day one of the demolition phase, foreman Augustine and his awesome crew just blew my mind at how efficient, precise and hard working they were. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed and felt at ease, knowing that I was definitely in good hands. Within a week, I had a beautiful brand new retaining wall built better than ever. Equally impressive was Joyce at the office making sure I was never left hanging with questions or concerns. All my queries were handled in a timely manner. For anyone looking for concrete/brick contractor, I highly recommend Lee's Concrete.

This was my very first time hiring anybody to do any sort of landscaping work. I was ignorant going…read moreinto it so I had to lean heavily into the landscapers expertise on what would be best for what I wanted to achieve. After getting a few quotes, I chose Lee's Concrete because he impressed me the most with the ideas he presented, not being pushy or sales-y, while also staying competitive price wise. He is also officially licensed for concrete. The project started around May 2025, and completed towards the end of July 2025. It consisted of concrete pouring, artificial turf installation, irrigation routing and laying out gravel/river rocks in planting areas. Also, a 2D layout diagram was provided for me to submit to HOA for approval. Below is a list of critiques ranked starting with my biggest letdowns: #1) WEEDS. Not via the concrete, but the artificial turf that was laid out. Lee offered artificial turf installs during my contractor search. My main reason for getting artificial turf was to have little-to-no maintenance. But, mines constantly has weeds growing out of the edges due the gap in the ends not being sealed. My next door neighbor had artificial turf installed by another landscaper and never has any weeds growing out of the edges ever. They had theirs installed after mine. Maybe it was my fault for not communicating that need initially. But at the same time, I thought having artificial turf laid out and it preventing weed growth on the edges would be a given. #2) Blotchy concrete coloring on front yard. My backyard's concrete coloring was pretty consistent and I was very happy with how it turned out. But my front yard was very blotchy and inconsistent. I was told that this is normal and will take about a year to cure and to give it time. Another reason was for differing "pH levels" for the area where the concrete was laid. Well... a year has passed and it has kind of improved here and there, but not so much in other parts. So, I'm a little hesitant to believe it that is actually the reason. It doesn't make sense to me that all the concrete laid out in my entire neighborhood doesn't look as bad as how it looks on my driveway. Structurally, it's fine. But it is a bit of an eye-sore looking at it every time I'm in my front yard. #3) I felt like I spent more time than I needed to checking for imperfections. A main one was my vinyl fence and cinder block wall getting dirty from the concrete pours. Another big one was the cinder block retaining wall in my backyard not being symmetrical on the edges. I had to call it out a few times to even get it fixed. Once it was finally fixed, my vinyl fence had residue from the cinderblock wall fix. By that time, I had gotten fatigue from having to constantly call out imperfections and let that one go. #4) You don't really know when the landscapers will come out to do the work. If I remember correctly, they would come out most weekdays. But, you wouldn't know if they would show up the next day or not. Not too big of a deal honestly. I'm more picky about this because I like to keep the side gate to my backyard locked and not knowing when to unlock it in the morning was just a tiny annoyance. I ended up just unlocking it first thing in the morning and locking it in the evening every weekday. Overall, I'd rate the project a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 - which I think is a very fair assessment. I'm relatively happy how it looks at the end. But there were a few bumps along the way which is why I cannot give a 5 out of 5. It pains me to write the above critiques and not be able to give the highest rating because Lee and the rest of his team were all very nice people. But there definitely could've have been improvements for the entire project.

I would like to start this review off by explaining that I researched what i needed and reputable…read morecompanies extensively prior to starting my backyard project.  I also had 4 bids and input  from 4 companies to compare, and input from an arborist.  The arborist is the one that recommended California Custom Landscaping to me because he said they do the best he's ever seen, and has not seen any issues with the work in later years.  Henry from California Landscaping was, by far, the most knowledgeable and the most professional of the contractors I met with.  He had ideas and suggestions that demonstrated he had extensive experience, and helped me find solutions to some difficult issues that would ensure my project is both long lasting and affordable.  His pricing was not the highest bid, but was on the higher end, but after completion of the project, I understood why.  He has a good size crew, they were all very knowledgeable, they were very thorough and did a very professional job, and brought in a lot of specialized equipment (I mention the equipment because I have had other jobs and seen jobs that do not have that).  I my project included demolition of old concrete, electrical work, a concrete brick retaining wall, concrete pour wall, concrete pour, installation of my plants, and installation of a drip system. I genuinely had no concerns or complaints with the entire process, so I wanted to list off the things I noticed that I appreciated: - Every crew member was professional, polite, and many went the extra mile to make me happy.  They always offered to do little extra things to help me out, even though they weren't part of their duties.  - The foreman made sure to ask questions along the way to ensure I was happy with choices being made.  This was very important to me because I had a project in the past where decisions were made without checking with me, and work had to be redone.  - The workers cleaned up after themselves thoroughly after each day, and left materials and tools organized nicely.  They always swept, cleaned, or blowed the area, so there were no messes.  - The workers seem to be treated really well and their time was respected.  I appreciated that I saw them taking regular scheduled lunch breaks and leaving at the same time each day.  When Henry wanted to schedule work on the weekend, he emphasized that he needed to respect their weekends, ask permission, and give them plenty of notice. -Everything was very timely.  They came when they said they would, arrived on time, let me know what days they would not be working, and completed the project pretty quickly.   -Henry would regularly check in, make sure I was happy, and answer my questions.  He also communicates/responds to emails calls and texts in a timely manner. There were a few great things included in the project that i didn't even realize. - The work they did was beautiful! I couldn't be happier with how my back yard turned out.  I've had to clean up neighbors debris from their trees and hose it down, and it cleans up easily and drains well. I would definitely recommend California Custom Landscaping, and plan to have them come back to help me with a few future projects.
