When you wake up in the morning and do your business,  you expect things to go down smoothly.  So you would imagine the horror on my face when it didn't.  It's true,  no one likes calling a plumber to fix the job, it's over-priced,  it takes long, it's awkward and you still end up feeling like crap (pun intended). After being overcharged at three consultations by three different companies,  we found Razor Rooter who dunked the rest of them in the toilet! I'm sure you have probably groaned at my review at least a few times but something you won't facepalm are the prices. Our guy Martin gave us a very competitive price for some usually expensive services.  Not only did he give us prices but he helped us understand why we were paying for the service without being crass. Martin also provided really good customer service.  He was really careful with our house and plumbing systems and he was all around a nice guy. Overall,  things go down the way they're supposed to,  without our wallet going empty.  Razor Rooter was cheap,  fast,  and painless.  I would recommend them,  and use this business again and again before I call the rest. read more

While taking a shower, the valve stem burst off and water was splashing everywhere. I immediately turned off the water to the house. Thinking I could fix this myself, I brought the old valve over to Home Depot and tried to look for the same valve stem. But after discovering that it broke off the threads as well...hmmm. So, I ended up purchasing brand new hardware thinking, now I'm gonna need to hire a plumber. Just great. Where can you find a reliable, quality plumber nowadays? After searching through the Internet close to my residence, I came across Razor Rooter. I did research on the company first. Look at his web reviews and saw all 5 stars. But it got me thinking as an IT tech. He's only posting his 5 star reviews. But, Yelp tells all stories. So, I read some reviews on Yelp, liked what I saw and called him at around 9:30pm. He answered and I told him my story and asked him approximately what it would cost to install a new shower valve system. I told him I had a tile shower and I didn't want it damaged, but the back side was a small bathroom that he could access from the backside. As most contractors, they are very hesitant in giving a prices over the phone without looking at what they are up against. I can understand this. I'm a contractor myself in IT Services. But, I just asked for a ballpark figure. He asked me what my budget was which was very thoughtful. I told him I wanted a quality job, so what is the price? He told me a price and I was expecting another price. He accepted site unseen. He asked if I wanted him out there right now and I said no. Martin came out the next day and I told him I had to work in the morning and he was very accommodating. Called me up and I asked him to call me when he was 15 minutes away, so I could drive home from work to meet him. He was super punctual. Off to a great start. He wanted to start right way, but I wanted to firm up the price first. We talked and agreed to what we said on the phone. Thumbs up! Took him up to the suspect shower. OK, down to business. I watched him for the first 30 minutes to hour and I knew he was up against a monster of a job, but he had super patience and made sure he was meticulous on his workmanship. This was a typical 2-3 hour job that took him over 5 hours and he never complained, was very professional and performed quality workmanship. He asked me to inspect as I did and all was well. Once he was all finished, and I was satisfied with the job, we sat down to complete the transaction. I was super pleased with his workmanship and professionalism. I would have no hesitation to refer Razor Rooter (Martin)...Excellent job Martin. I will definitely hire you again. read more

Great service from a local business owner here in West Covina. I checked with many other local companies in the area and they were way more expensive by around 50% more. I called Razor and they were able to come with in one hour to help me rooter a bath tub. They knew just what needed to be done and took the time needed to make sure it's done right which was actually pretty fast. Also answered my other plumbing questions and inspected my toilets and adjusted them to make sure they were running right. Also told me my options for replacing a shower handle valve. My review on the work that was done is below, however, I have an update based on their "Guarantee". The invoice you receive from them says you have a 30 day guarantee on the work that was done. We ended up having the same plumbing problem and reaching out to all phone numbers on their website. 7 calls and a week later, no response or update. All phone number go straight to voicemail without a ring and the cell/emergency number does too. I was going to recommend them until they lapsed on their guarantee. It's a scam to get your good review. My company had a problem that was supposed to be fixed weeks ago. Our landlord went through 3 different plumbers and no change. We had a clogged pipe through the main line and Martin was the only one that would put the effort into clearing it and explaining it thoroughly to us. I also want to mention that he returned my call within 10 minutes of me leaving a message and arrived an hour after our conversation. Our landlord was pleased and so are we. One peaceful Sunday afternoon, as i was about to shower i notice my sewer line begin back up into the shower! Thankfully i was able to stop it before it got out if my shower pan. Clearly in a panic, i hit my trusty yelp app and up pops Martin with 50 or so positive reviews. Surely 50 people can't be wrong, right? So i dial him up and within a few hours he was able to come down & drain my sewer line. Long story short, Martin was really nice, helpful & cleared everything up within about 45 minutes. I've never needed a plumber before but I'm glad i found one that is local & that i can trust. read more

I called and Martin answered I asked for a quote to clean out a 3 inch line and described the problem. Martin quoted me $99. When he got here (4 hours late) he tried to raise the price to $249. I reminded him that he had quoted me $99. He countered with an offer of a 25% discount if I would write a review - I countered that he wouldn't like my review. After a bit of discussion I declined his services. I rented a 3" snake from Home Depot for $61 and cleaned out the line myself. For anyone in the 626 area code I would highly recommend Razor Rooter for any of your plumbing needs! I had a sewage backup problem due to roots in our drains. A problem that I've had before and had previously used Roto Rooter, who charged hundreds of dollars. I called them again and they wouldn't give me any type of estimate until i scheduled an appointment and they came down. Tired of dealing with the usual bs and inflated prices of the big name brand company I searched around on google and yelp looking for other options when I came across Razor Rooter. I'm a big yelper and they had a solid 4.5 star rating. I read some of the reviews, liked what i read and decided to call to give them a shot. A lot of the reviews referenced good service from Martin, the owner, so I called and asked for him. From the start he was straightforward and I appreciated that he answered any questions i had about price estimates and explained in detail any possible work. I made an appointment with him the next morning to come use a rooter snake down our sewage pipes to help clean out any roots causing the blockage. Martin was professional and came on time. He was pleasant to interact with and provided excellent service. He was able to clear out a lot of the roots in our drains and I am content to be able to use my restroom once again! In summary, Martin and Razor Rooter aim to provide honest and dependable plumbing service at an affordable price. They charge a fraction of what the large, shadier companies like Roto Rooter do. I would know as I've used both! I saved a lot of money choosing Razor Rooter for the same or i'd say better service and will continue to use them in the future if any problems occur. My toilet and bathtub water would not drain because I had a clog. To top it off, when I left my washer on, it caused the water in both the bathtub and the toilet to keep rising, until it finally overflowed onto the floor. I had another plumber (not razor rooter) come look at it--what a waste of money, because they did not fix the clog. But that's when I decided to call Razor rooter, and what a relief. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND MARTIN I was originally gonna let this go but maybe I can save someone from a horrible experience and expensive lesson so this is a bit of a late and lengthy review. This past Easter Sunday 2016, we noticed a leak coming from our upstairs bathroom. Being the normal guy we use is out of town, I decided to look at yelp. I found this company and called them around 9am to have someone come in and check the leak in which I was informed that it would be considered and emergency service(holiday) and would cost $150 to which given the situation I was fine with. I was also informed that if any work needs to be done the $150 could be applied to the cost of the job which to me was great. I was informed that the guy would arrive between 12 to 2 and was asked if I wanted a courtesy call prior to arrival to which I said yes. 2pm pass and still no call and around 230pm I hear a truck outside of my door (what happened to the courtesy call?) Martin then shows up clearly not in the mood to be at my house. He then ask me where the leak is and lead him to it. BEFORE even seeing what the leak is or where it was coming from he says "I have to cut your whole ceiling off... Don't worry your insurance will cover it" I told him no, there's an entry way for you to look at the leak first before deciding to mangle our home. He had the awful attitude when I said this and mentions "I can't do it today anyways". He then points a flashlight around and then says "we need to replace your toilet. I can work on it today but it's double pay" ($650) this is where I declined his service (mind you he's been at my house for 2 mins at this point). He also tries to push for a flooring company to come in and rip off our floors and again says "your insurance will cover this" again I decline. I then ask how much it would cost to fix if I had him come back the next day. He said it's normal labor costs but I lose the $150 I initially paid. I then mention that there was no mention of the $150 being available for that day only,this is where I hear the most unprofessional part "well, it doesn't make sense for me to deduct the $150 as that's just for me to show up here today". I mentioned that I was not informed that the $150 is only good that day, but he just said "No, but if I do it today well deduct it"(double pay) and continues to write for the fee and was rushing to leave at this point (less than 10 mins at my house). I didn't want to deal with this as obviously this Martin guy is a SCAM and probably does more work than what is actually needed to make that extra buck and just wanted him out of my house at this point. Lost $150 but lesson learned and hopefully saves some of you from losing out like me. I would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND Martin and would give ZERO STARS if it was an option. read more

Dissatisfied with the quality of the estimate. "Martin" made many assumptions as to the cause of the problems identified, made a few claims that contradicted general / common knowledge and suggested unnecessary costly solutions to problems that I identified. He didn't bring a pad of paper or estimate template with him to provide an explanation of the work that would need to be completed, including identifying / labeling the problem. Based on other reasons, I would not trust "Martin" to perform the work. I am only referring to the individual as "Martin" because that was the name on his shirt. I recently had a leaking pipe under my house, I called Martin and he said he would come out the same day. Needless, to say he was honest, came out and I was totally satisfied. The repair wasn't just patch work, he replace the portion of copper pipe that was leaking. (welding seemed to be involved.) He also cleared a clogged drain for my cousin, who lives right next door, she was also satisfied. This guy is the real deal, he never asked for money up front; to purchase the portion of pipe for the repair. something I worry about when asked to put money up front. One company sends somebody over 4 hrs after they said 1 hour then he quotes $$$$ but I say ok because its the main water line and I didnt want more problems.
