We've asked over 5 different companies to give us a quote on installing 15,000 sq ft of concrete on our front yard. We're so thankful that we came across Joe and Eddie!!! I am so grateful for the amazing job that Joe and his crew did on our new driveway. We've been living with a cracked and pitted driveway that worsen when our oak tree fell a few years back. We basically put up with it until we no longer could. It is my husband's primary access onto our property as he is currently confined to a wheelchair. Joe did an absolutely beautiful job! It's almost double in size and the detailing they did with stamping the edge of the driveway is such a nice touch. He also went the extra mile helping to remove a tree stump embedded in the old concrete. I literally had tears (happy plus emotional because I really felt they cared about us) in my eyes when I saw how determined the crew was to remove it themselves without me having to deal with some tree specialist. After getting 3 bids for approximately 2800 sq feet of concrete and 140 feet of neighboring block wall, we decided to go with Joe (Rodriguez Concrete). Overall, he did a good job on both the concrete and wall--the project transformed our home greatly. We decided on Joe because of price (20% lower than competition) combined with his knowledge/experience. His crew works hard and Joe runs the operations well. Pros: Good, quality workmanship. Fast and experienced crew. Generally keeps his schedule and notifies progress as needed. He works safe and knows what he's doing. Cons: Went slightly over my initial budget based on the contract (even with a 10% pad) due to undisclosed/unforeseen costs such as concrete recycling fee--this may or may not be Joe's fault but I'm taking 1 star away because I budgeted based on the contract that Joe prepared. Conclusion: We are very happy with Joe--he knows concrete well. My neighbor is going to use him for his driveway and wall too! He and his crew did a fantastic job...word of advise: give yourself a 15% pad above the contract to budget properly. This was a difficult review to write. Joe Rodriquez and his crew worked very hard to put in the beautiful new driveway I've wanted for years. And it is beautiful--that is, most of it. Unfortunately, there are some flaws that have left me disappointed. We talked at length about the importance of proper drainage by my front door. But when water from a misdirected sprinkler fell by the front door on the new concrete a few days after it was poured, it created a puddle which never did drain away. After a day, it eventually dried up. It was not a lot of water either; it's easy to see that with any significant rainfall, most of the front porch, which slants toward my front door, will be covered with water which will not drain away. Joe discovered the cause of it, but unfortunately what's done is done. He mitigated the damage by cutting some lines into the concrete after the fact to provide some degree of drainage. It still doesn't drain well, but I think it helped some. We'll see when we get some real rain. In addition, a crack appeared, also near the front door, ten days after he poured the concrete. When I asked him about this, he said, "Concrete cracks." He told me to get a second opinion, which I did. A professional contractor working in concrete for 30 years told me: "That is not correct. It should never have cracked that soon. There was probably either no rebar installed in that area, or there was insufficient base put in underneath the concrete." I don't personally know if there is rebar or sufficient base there or not. Maybe there is. Either way, I am disappointed that a crack should appear so quickly, and in a prominent location. And now, two months after the pour, the crack in the curve near the front door is spreading. It has branched out. It's still relatively small, but I wonder where it will end. Joe's suggestion for this crack is to saw-cut a line through it. There is no guarantee that it would stop further spreading of the crack; it would be for cosmetic purposes only. I decided in the end that a cut right there would only make it look worse. There is also an area of the driveway near the street that looks stained. It was noticeable right from the first, but Joe and I both thought it might be my sprinklers throwing water onto that area. So at his suggestion, I made sure to turn them off immediately so no permanent staining could occur. I have left them off until now, which is two months since he poured the concrete, which means there was some overspray from sprinklers one time for ten minutes, two months ago. Yet the discoloration continues and, to this date, shows no sign of changing. It's a rather large area, approximately 14 feet long by 1 foot wide. Who knows, maybe it will eventually fade to match the rest of the driveway. I can only hope so. I have to say it's another disappointment. In his favor, I will say that Joe works very hard. He was on time for every appointment and responded quickly to all communications. With the exceptions noted, it is a beautiful driveway. After a few add-ins, his pricing was about on par with the other companies I interviewed. I was convinced he was the right man for the job, but in the end, I think I may have gone with someone else. read more

I hired RC to pour a large 660sf new slab adjacent to my exisiting garage, for future expansion. I mostly dealt with Jose (Joe), and I selected them for the job because Jose was willing to give me some preliminary pricing info wnd advice when I was still overseas (others were not willing) and he couln't view the job site. Although he underestimated a bit, their price was fair given current conditions and they did a great and correct job on my project. It was not a small job, nearly 1600 sq ft of concrete to pour, but they were up for the task. I was quoted two days work, start to finish. Didn't even take two full days and were right on target with the estimated amount, the price went up a few hundred dollars based on changes that I made the day before the pour. I texted Joe on Saturday to get an quote after getting a few quotes from other concrete companies. Joe replied back fast and gave me his best price for removal of my asphalt. I was on an deadline because the city was requesting that we remove it because we did not have an permit to add that small portion. Long story short, I got a quote on Saturday and Joe and his crew finished the job on a Tuesday. It took them only 30-45 minutes and they made it look easy. I'm glad we hired him because he had the bobcat, dump truck and tools needed to get this job done. I needed to pour concrete on the walkway around the new addition to the side of the house. Joe came out, measured, saw what needed to be done and gave me a quote that was better than anybody else.
