Found this place on Tirerack.com to install my tires that I ordered. I had 4 tires replaced and also got an alignment performed. The owner Ryan was very accommodating with my scheduling. He and his staff worked exclusively on my car from beginning to end. The guts of the place is obviously the garage which was pretty clean and organized. If you expect a long wait find someplace else to hangout. The office is the size of a bathroom and the one couch only has room for maybe 2 people. They have all Hunter brand equipment which I'm told is pretty good machinery. They appear to be geared towards performance modifications and such so they're not the typical auto-repair or body-shop. Ryan and his crew are PRO's! I have been to many shops as I have a project car that needed some serious TLC! No other shop has been as diligent and honest as this shop! Ryan is the ONLY mechanic that has taken the time out to email me, keep me informed on the proceedings of my car, and to explain things that would otherwise baffle me. I found this place on yelp, and decided to give it a try since it was literally just a mile away. I know the area well, but never noticed this place, it's a bit of a hidden gem. I made an appt, showed up 15 minutes late, and they got to work on my car right away. I had broken a rear sway bar bracket from hard driving. Ryan explained the ways they could take care of the repair, and what he recommended. He quoted a very reasonable amount (a friend had a similar repair done locally, and paid $5 more). I asked if they could make time to install and adjust some aftermarket endlinks I had, that install added a very reasonable amount to the bill as well. I was in and out in an hour, and was lead to inspect everything up close before given the bill. During my wait, there were many tuner magazine to keep me occupied. Ryan made some conversation, and explained some of their other services I'm interested in. I will be going back before the next autox season for tire mounting, balancing, and alignment. All will be done with hunter machines, and balancing will be a road force balance. read more

Great shop. I've been using RCT for a long time. First encounter was about 10 years ago when they were in College Point. I was glad to find them again at their new location. I have been there three times for alignments because I keep changing my suspension and other parts on my car. They are always very knowledgable, professional and helpful. I have never had an issue with them Every time I go, it is same people there: the owner, Ryan, and two other technicians. It's always good to see the same faces instead of employees coming and going like at other chain/franchise alignment/race shops. I trust these guys with my car 100% and I am very picky about who touches my car. I'm the type that I rather do the work myself but obviously I don't own an alignment shop, so I'm happy to say that I trust these guys with getting the car going straight. I brought my car in here because of the good reviews, and the employees are really nice and knowledgeable. My car was running perfectly before it got on the alignment rack. Ryan (or whoever) was inside my car for some reason) for a while. When the car came off the rack, the engine ran like shit. I spent over a month trying to fix it and found out they altered my custom tune. I know because I downloaded a stock tune from the ECU maker and it worked perfectly. I lost of lot of money and countless hours trying to fix what this 5 STAR REVIEW shop did to me. As it turned out, the owner has a friend with a shop that specializes in problems like mine... Many other people really like this place and maybe you'll have better luck with tires, but I am never coming back. BTW, a guy waiting for me complained that after Ryan took his car back from a test drive, it showed up with a dent (of course denied). To be frank, I learned to read between the lines of Yelp reviews - don't take Yelp reviews for granted. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There should be an option for 0 stars. I went here on a Saturday to mount my snow tires which I paid $100 for that. The next Wednesday I went to RCT for a simple wheel alignment. After calling in I was told the alignment takes 1 hour for my car which is fine by me. I went there and went for a walk and came back 15 min later to see my car already off the rack. Moments later I saw it being driven in and being put on the rack again. Approximately 10 min later the car comes off the rack and the tech tells me everything is done. Then he adds he couldn't correct the camber because something is bent. Also said that's why my steering wheel is crooked. I paid $100 in cash for the alignment and left. FYI my steering wheel was way more off after leaving RCT than it was before coming in. Friday I take my car to Mercedes Benz of huntington. They inform me NOTHING is bent and don't have a clue why RCT couldn't align my car. The same Friday night I take my car to another shop the specializes in performance and lowered cars. They had everything aligned to factory specs and my steering wheel centered in 30 min. They told me there was NOTHING bent and it was a breeze to align the car. I paid for a second alignment in less than two days and left. Car drives straight and steering wheel is centered. Saturday I called Ryan owner of RCT. Ryan told me the other shop must have done the alignment incorrectly and the wrong way. I explained to him I went to dealership and then other shop and nobody find anything bent or wrong. Ryan refused to accept responsibility and said they must have done it wrong. I double checked with the other shop and Mercedes Benz alignment tech who never heard any of the bullshit that Ryan was feeding me. Ryan offered me 25% off my next visit. To add insult to injury RCT who mounted my snow tires before the alignment didn't balance my front wheels properly either. I had that taken care of this week by a third shop because of wheel weight issues. RCT said it was because my wheel might be bent. I have been coming to RCT for two years and have recommended them to numerous family and friends. The last few years their work has gone downhill and the owner Ryan does not care about the customer at all. read more

I had recently purchased a used car, and of course, after having signed all of the papers, noticed that the car's steering wheel was pulling to the left whenever I drove it. You can imagine my frustration/anxiety. I brought it to RCT telling them the car needed a wheel alignment; an hour or so later I got a call from Ryan and he explained to me that what I really needed was a new set of front tires and - problem solved! Sloppy work. Not recommended. Went back because they did a poor job with a install.Luckily I happen to change a tire and saw bolts missing. The intire assembly that holds the spring porch was missing. That could have caused a catastrophic to me and whoever could have been in the car..Went back and was repaired twice before it was done right. After that attitude got really bad... Etc... read more

A Breath of Fresh Air! Now as a woman nothing makes me grind my teeth more than needing to tend to an errand for my car. I may not know a lot about cars but I'm a great deal far from unintelligent. I WANT to understand and know the proper way to take care of my vehicle and also avoid being ripped off (as I often have been when dealing with car "experts"). Nevertheless, typically one of two things happen. They become fast talkers and inundate me with technical terms and fancy explanations that I feel like a deer in headlights, or they speak to me so condescendingly that I want to punch them in their face (I have actually had one such "expert" explain to me that tires move in a "circular fashion"). I drive an Audi A8 and although I haven't invested in fancy upgrades or pimped out my car in anyway, I do take pride in it. While driving on the parkway about a week ago my tire popped and began to shred. Fortunately I managed to navigate quickly to the shoulder but when I changed the tire I noticed my rim was cracked. I did my research and was impressed by the reviews on RCT so I took my car down. The shop is a bit off the main road and definitely a no frills place but it's clean and well maintained. Someone saw me immediately asked what I wanted done. They recommended I change my other front tire due to dry rot and actually took the time to show me where it was on my tire and explained the tell tale signs. When they asked what tires I wanted I said "Goodyear" ..why? My father always ordered Goodyear and I knew they were decent. They explained Goodyear was fine but expensive in comparison. I asked what else he had and he replied "whatever you want we'll do." While I appreciated the no pressure attitude I immediately confessed I was ignorant on tires and wanted his professional opinion. He recommended Yokohama tires and told me they were all season tires with good tread that would fit my driving needs. This also brought the price down from $375 for two tires to $220. SOLD! They let me know it would be ready in two days. ONE day later I receive a call from Ryan that my rim is fixed and ready. I take the trip down and he asks for 45 min to put on my tires. After 20 minutes he's done but tells me that my alignment is off and he recommends an adjustment. I concede and he asks for another 30 minutes. He was done in 20. As I'm about to pay he hands me a detailed computer printout showing the previous alignment of my tires and how they are currently adjusted. He patiently answered my questions and shed some light on why my front tires always seem to be going flat. For a rim repair, alignment, and two new tires I paid $534. . I've paid much more and received far less in term of customer service or professionalism. More importantly, when I drove my car off the lot the improvement in the quality of my ride was immediately apparent Admittedly, I am not a car enthusiast, but I am pretty emphatic about efficiency and quality and RCT has their act together. They really are a hidden gem and will continue to get my business. read more

I bought a new set of dampers/shock absorbers from Tirerack, and RCT were among the recommended installers. Also, some reviews were mentioning they were using a torque wrench to tighten the wheel lug nuts. More on this later... (You know how most mechanics give you a hard time installing equipment you bought by yourself - they like to make their margins on the overpriced stuff they sell.) No attitude here. I called on Friday and got an appointment on Saturday. James was very professional to deal with. By the time I called an Uber he had already started working on it. He estimated the work would take around 4 hours. 3.5 hours later I got his call that it was ready. The car drives great. The new shocks are excellent. (Koni FSD - great for the NYC bombed out roads.) The wheels were mounted on the correct positions - guessing the same as the original. Despite the wheels being all the same, the rears have higher pressure than the fronts. And the curb rash on the right side ones was on the same side. :) Guessing they might have checked/adjusted the tire pressure too. All good here. Now about the overtorqued wheel lug nuts... My 200lbs stepping on a 1 foot socket wrench could not undo them... which means that they were overtorqued to more than twice the recommended 90lb.ft.... Dissapointing. I got lucky with a 2ft lug wrench, then torqued them properly. I'll blame this on the rush to finish the job on a cold winter day. I trust that the rest of the work was adequate. read more

My first experience with RCT ...... I called them up Friday morning and explained to them exactly what had happened. I had just purchased tires from a local tire shop. They installed the tires and did a wheel alignment. After 3 times of them telling me it was perfect according to there machine and me driving the car and it pulling so much to the right that it was changing lanes on its own. Found RCT through Tire Rack and now its become the place for me to have any alignment or tire work done to me car.

One of my biggest pet peeves of NYC roads are those metal plates they put on the road when they patch up whatever road they've dug into. I happen to hit one that was way higher than it seemed and was enough to throw off my alignment (which I had just gotten repaired a few weeks back). Came to RCT the following morning to get a full alignment done as I was due for a track day in two days. Alignment has been perfect ever since and feels even better than before I hit that plate. Even suggested new camber/toe settings and it was spot on. Car felt better balanced on the track. Price is very reasonable, highly recommended. They also opened a new location in Westbury if anyone is out on the island. read more
