We did not have a concrete idea of what we wanted at first but Oscar was great with helping us plan by guiding us and asking about how we wanted to use our space. He also created documents to submit to our HOA for approval, and he was able to make changes quickly when needed. Victor and the crew were on time, efficient, and timely with the work. It was greatly appreciated that everything was washed down and cleaned by the crew at the end of each day. They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. The scope of the work included adding a concrete pad, extending our concrete patio, planting privacy hedges with drainage and auto watering system, installing artificial grass with paver walkways, and adding pebbles along the exterior wall of our house. Since we have a soft watering system, we also had them install a separate line from the main. Overall, Caliscapes OC was professional, friendly, and accommodating. We even had one of the hedge plants not doing well. We reached out to Caliscapes OC to advise us on how to revive it, and they said they would replace it. My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.

To be honest, it really restored my faith in landscaping contractors. I submitted an online request for a quote and the next day Mike emailed me requesting pictures of what our project wanted to include. Originally we just wanted to pull out our front yard plants and redo just the front but there is a $5000 project minimum. After deciding to redo our turf and also include our backyard, Mike came out the next week for a free in person consultation and got me a detailed quote within 2 days. The turnaround time for everything was just amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is about 3615 sq ft to give a reference point. Our project included: all the labor to demolish/uproot all of our plants including a very large 20 year old tree in the backyard + all the roots (completed in 2-3 days), redid our front and backyard turf (completed in 2 days by Backyard Golf Company), added a veneer stone and cap on our retaining wall (1 week) and replanted all our plants/installed a drip sprinkler system/installed lighting front and backyard (1 week). We have an HOA and Mike had a complete detailed plan and diagram ready for us within 3-5 days. Once HOA got back to us, the project was started within a week and finished in the estimated time frame. Workers came promptly at 8 AM and they were actively working all day not just sitting around. Very respectful, even blowing all the dust at the end of the day to keep the area clean, no garbage left anywhere. The entire project was $30,000 and there weren't any surprise or unexpected costs. Invoices are sent every week on a reasonable schedule and I just loved our experience. I'd recommend Seabreeze to anyone wanting to do their hardscape landscaping in a heartbeat!

This review is long over due, but prospective customers need to know the truth about these guys…read more They are horribly unprofessional and are seemingly a temu version of real landscaping professionals. We called them out to execute hardscape plans that we had already designed. Omar Jr nodded and said yes yes yes, but my guess is he was never listening at all. When it came time to frame out for concrete, we noticed the workers were laying things out the way Omar wanted, not the way we told him we wanted it done. Went outside and quickly corrected the problem areas, otherwise Cali Landscape would have had a really expensive redo that they'd be responsible for. They poured the concrete and it looked nice for exactly one day. They told us not to water it down, despite hearing our entire lives that concrete sets best when kept moist. Well, they burned us because the concrete started chipping almost immediately and now wee'rereminded every day of the failed work we paid them to do. We also had them build two gates for us and they are NOT capable! They said yes to take our money but delivered horrible gates. We had to have them come out to fix errors several times and then finally gave up. We're just going to have new ones built by professionals. Workers were friendly but sloppy. They splattered concrete all around our house. They'd also leave equipment in our yard and help themselves to come over and get it whenever they wanted, on non-working days, without contacting us first. Pretty concerning that we came home one Sunday morning to one of their guys jumping into our backyard to get some equipment. What's even more weird is halfway through our project, they called and demanded that we pay them the remaining balance in cash. That's not what our contract required. It truly felt like a shakedown....so unprofessional. Would NEVER recommend these guys and completely regret hiring them in the first place.
