It is located next to Martha Riley Library, one of 3 City of Roseville libraries and the newest one. The RUEC is pretty cool and admission is free. We like to come by every once in awhile because they have changing exhibits, but their permanent displays are informative and interesting too. As an environmentally minded person, I try to conserve, but how do you know what to do and what is worth your effort and what doesn't make much of a difference? The RUEC has quite a few exhibits on how to conserve energy, water, and how to minimize our impact on the planet including garbage disposal (that often end up in landfill more than anywhere else), recycling, being conscientious in our resource usage by setting our thermostats properly, cycling our ACs, replace or clean air filters regularly, install a programmable thermostat, and properly insulating and weatherizing your house down to HVAC ducts! There's even information on where our stormwater and runoffs go (which affect our fish and other wildlife), how much energy different specific kitchen appliances use, not putting grease/oil down the drain, vacuum the coils on our fridge 2x's a year to keep our fridges efficient, thinking about the temp and weather when considering what to cook (don't run your oven on hot days), installing energy efficient fixtures/bulbs, and only doing laundry and dishes with full loads so as to maximize efficient when washers and dishwashers. These are things many people don't know or haven't thought about. Overall, the RUEC does a great job at educating the community and especially kids on environmental and resource conservation and also provides info about how we can practically make a difference just by being more aware of how we use energy and other natural resources.

We took our kids here since we like fun educational activities and free is always the right price. We went on a Saturday and it was not too busy. The staff is friendly who greeted us, then we just wandered around a bit. They have interactive utility exhibits about how the City of Roseville provides utility services to their residents. They have their own power plants and substations, etc. to generate their own energy, so their residents pay less than even SMUD customers, I was kind of jealous about that. At least I'm not paying PG&E electricity, but maybe I should've looked into living in Roseville. Anyhow, they also have their own sewage and water facilities of course, and their services are focused on saving water and sustainability and being resource conscious and eco-friendly, which all make sense. My kids enjoyed the interactive activities about using less electricity and water, but what they really liked was the Utility Truck Experience where they got to go on a Recycling truck and pretend play. It was pretty cool. There are also tons of education displays on shopping smart to get things that last and not disposable items that end up in the landfill. In addition to permanent exhibits, they also offer kids educational classes. My kids took a few over the years, one of them was on urban planning and it was quite interesting for them to learn how to design and layout infrastructure for a pretend city that makes sense for where to put the power plant, the landfill, the sewage system, etc. relative to locations of homes, roads, nature places like rivers and lakes, and public places like parks, schools, and fire stations, etc. All in all, RUEC (as they call it) is a really nice little museum that kids and adults alike where we can learn a lot about utilities and resource conservation, it's great that it's open 6 days a week and it's free and everyone's welcome, not just Roseville residents, and they even offer free educational classes (w/advance RSVP) for kids. Some of the staff even took time to come in and compliment me on the homemade panda themed cake I made. The photographer was also amazing! The staff had the room decorated with the decor we provided ahead of time so all we had to do was show up and enjoy. And if you don't want to decorate a specific theme?? No problem! They decorate the room in their colorful birthday supplies! Oh, and the whole facility was extremely clean and organized. They had everything you could need so if you forgot anything, they had you covered!! They even bring in their mascot (who is massive) and get the kids together for group photos with him. It was so unique and fun, the kids loved it! I've read the other reviews where people are complaining about the staff cleaning up before everyone was gone, but instead of seeing that as a bad thing, I helped them clean up so they could start setting up for the next family. It was the human thing to do. Being kind is free. I wish more people could slow down and show some compassion. My kids are all older now but I wish this place had been around when planning parties in the past. I will definitely recommend FunBox to anyone looking for a stress free and fun birthday party. Guidance and education go a long way but to be snappy and scare kids to not pet animals at a petting zoo and for the price I paid! Honestly ruined the experience for me as she did. We were just visiting the area and stopped by hoping for a safe place for my baby to play, but it turned into an infuriating and unsafe experience. A business built for children should understand that kids develop at vastly different paces and there is no rigid standard for every age. My son was born four months premature. While his birth certificate says 18 months, his physical size, adjusted age, and motor skills are at a 12-14 month level, and he has only just started walking.The front desk took our payment first with zero warning. Only after we had already paid did they inform us that he was couldn't enter the 18-month-and-under section. When I tried explaining that he is a preemie, the staff member argued back and forth, claiming his adjusted age "doesn't matter" and that they strictly enforce birth age and weight but they do t know what he actually weighs. Because they forced him into the main play area, the bigger kids were running circles around him while he was barely finding his footing. It was a complete safety hazard that defeated the entire purpose of having a protected toddler zone. I wish they had disclosed this rule prior to us paying. If you are visiting the area or have a child who was born premature, be aware. Edit: The owner personally reached out to apologize, issued a full refund, and ensured the team was coached moving forward. I really appreciate the accountability and customer care!

To keep my 23-month-old safe, I ended up paying the additional 50% fee so I could accompany him on the trampoline. Instead of being able to relax and enjoy the party, I spent the entire time chasing and playing alongside my toddler to make sure he didn't get hurt. It was exhausting--I left drenched in sweat, and I'm 38 years old, a runner, and in good shape. Unfortunately, the experience got worse when we left the party area. Someone stole my Altra running shoes along with the zippered party favor bags we had received. My 5-year-old was heartbroken. On top of that, many of the arcade games were out of order, two major attractions were closed. I think this location would benefit greatly from having a dedicated toddler area where younger children can play safely away from older kids. We arrived around 11am and there weren't a lot of people, my daughter and niece picked out a slime texture, scent, color and add-ins. I think I ended up paying like $50 for 2 slimes. They offer different price points, but $20 or $25 is the cheapest. Once they were done building their slimes, we sat at a table so they could mix and play with them for a bit. I like that they have tables so you don't feel like you're being rushed out after your purchase. I don't believe there is a time limit which is nice too and they do offer reservations for larger groups and parties. Overall, if your kid is addicted to slime, this is a cool activity to check out!
