Real chili, real not good! They used to be good. I hope they do something about their chili. I'm not sure if the owner is still the same one. The chili meat is so dry, and it's over price. I hope they can improve it because this spot holds many people's memories.

Real chili, huh? Well, as I was strolling along Wells I decided to check this place out since I was in need for a snack. This was the perfect place. They had quite a selection of hot dogs and of course, chili-related dishes. I went ahead and got the Chili Dog, which was made right in front of me. Sat at the bar, and enjoyed my dog. However, I noticed the chili tasted very weird at first. The workers said that they don't put beans on their chili dogs. Questionable, but hey that's something different. They put the onions on the bottom, not on top, so you're gonna be wondering "Hey, why can't I taste the onions?!". But it was great overall. The workers were very friendly and even named off some cool places to visit while in the city. Would love to check out their noodles dishes next time in Milwaukee!

Real deal chili - their "medium" had just the right amount of spice for me. Friendly staff, clean seating area, and fair prices. If you're in MKE and need chili -this is the place!

Ask the Community - Real Chili Restaurant

So is the chili better with noods or not? Never had chili with noods before dude? Sounds weird?? .....Still sounds like spaghetti bro. Matt does not have me convinced. Sorry bud. This place is all hyped up it better live up to the name......?

I'm not sure if it's better or not but as best I know it's a Milwaukee and some parts of the Midwest thing. If you like noodles it's worth a try but if you don't like noodles then skip it. I sometimes get it with bean and noodles, just beans, just…

I found the perfect place in 3rd Street Market Hall, just a block and a half from my conference hotel. I loved the food hall and had two lunches and one dinner there during my stay. There is plenty of seating. The people at Dawg City were incredibly nice and made me feel like family. Service was excellent. I opted for their Classic, which was a beautiful, meaty beef dog topped with mustard, ketchup, relish, and finely diced onions. It was outstanding! Every bite had the topping mixture. Yum! The fries deserve their own paragraph-crispy with a delicious seasoning blend, which I dunked in ketchup. Pure heaven! It takes a lot to impress me-i've eaten a lot of hotdog and fries in my time-but Dawg City would have to be one of my top best, for both the food and the experience!

I decided to try the Santa Fe, and it was topped with a squeeze of smooth guacamole, pico de gallo, and cotija cheese. Maybe the toppings cooled the hot dog down a bit...I would have preferred it to be warmer, but it was good. Mr. R ordered a chili cheese dog, and he kept talking about how good the chili was. He talked to someone at the stand and found out its homemade. I tried a bite, and I agree it's quite good, with a nice cumin flavor. Next time I would take a pass on the Santa Fe and go straight for the chili dog!

**July 2025: Wednesday Lunch Visit**…read more While I was researching iconic food in Wisconsin I came across an item called Butter Burger which sounded so decadent and delicious. My friend and I were only exploring Milwaukee for a day so we wanted to make sure that we picked a good spot to try this region favorite. AJ Bombers came up consistently ranked on top for really great burgers. We came on a weekday so parking was pretty easy, but it is metered street parking. The restaurant is located at the corner of a large building and since we arrived right at opening we were seated right away. We ordered the following -Cheese Curds $9 - These were delicious. Nice and crispy, almost had an airfried texture to it so it tasted healthier than others that I've tried -Bomb Butter Burger $14 - The meat was very juicy and overall a good burger -Milwaukee Burger $12.50 - This was a fantastic burger and I think I preferred this to the Bomb Butter Burger. The flavors were more balanced IMHO -Tater Tots and Fries: The burgers all came with a side and I enjoyed both! They were freshly fried and served hot. The tots made me feel really nostalgic since those were things I remember eating growing up. The unfortunate news is that this restaurant despite all the accolades will be closing later in 2025. It's served Milwaukee for 16 years and while I'm bummed that they'll be closing their doors later this year I'm glad that I got enjoy one of Milwaukee's best. If you get a chance to check them out their decor also has a lot of personality.

I haven't been in years, but it was sad to see that they don't give out peanut like they used to and they were not all over the floor. There was a singular waitress there but she was nice and checked in on us. I ordered the Milwaukee Burger. I loved the onions on it and added tomato to it. I thought the burger itself was ok. Not too much flavor, I wish it was a little more pink. It would've been better if the bun was more toasted as well. I ordered onion rings, fried pickles, and cheese curds. Cheese curds and onion rings were really good, but the frickles were huge and every time I would take a bite the pickle would come out of the batter and I would be stuck with the plain batter alone. Overall loved the ambiance and I was miss Aj Bombers and its history.

I'm visiting from Durham, NC, and I wish I could put Twisted Plants in my pocket and take it home…read morewith me! The flavor and variety were amazing. It's rare to find a place where both me and my son can eat from the same menu, especially since he's a picky eater, but he finished his entire plate. Friendly vegan spot (5/5 Green Stars) If you're visiting…read moreMilwaukee then a visit to E Brady St. is probably worth your while - a few interesting spots here, including Twisted Plants. I wanted to support my vegan brothers and sisters and, having being on the road (actually on Amtrak, so rails, really) for a while, I was craving some protein. Following the advice of the friendly staff members, I opted for an order of "Drummies" (Dazed & Confused) to maximize my protein intake. I ended up eating it in the restaurant and thought the vegan drumsticks were delicious with the two homemade sauces provided (ranch and chili). This dish is pricier than most of the others ($15, compared to a more reasonable $4 for fries or $10 for vegan mozzarella sticks) but memorable. The place could do with a few tweaks in terms of décor/atmosphere but the friendly staff helped make it a nice experience. I'm also rating the Twisted Plants 4.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Everything on the menu - savory food and pastries - is vegan. * Most of the food packaging is compostable. * Staff members are happy to tell you what's in your food. The drummies that I ordered are from Lily's Vegan Pantry - made in Taiwan from soy and seasoning (no palm oil). * Cookies are from local vegan entrepreneur, Bunny's Bite. * It fills a useful niche of craveable vegan (elevated) fast food. Next time I want to try the Crispy Chik'n Salad (made with organic greens) as it's one of those dishes I never tried before I went veggie.
