I visited the Real Pie Company in hopes of finding breakfast. Thank you Google and Siri for bad information, this is a bakery and the restaurant was closed down at the onset of the pandemic. The shop smelled great, fresh lemons (someone was cutting lemons). Therefore I was enticed to buy two lemon shortbread cookies. Very good, flavorful, you can see the lemon zest and taste the lemon flavor without it being too overpowering. I also purchased a chocolate chip cookies. It was good. Fresh and tasty treats for me. Friendly personnel, lots of pie and pastries. I hear their coconut pie is the best and a true favorite. Reasonable prices. Bring cash or get charged $2.50 per transaction on debit and credit cards. Tipping optional.

Average/good taste but for $7 a slice, the slices are TINY. I am not sure that I will be returning. ANOTHER "it's all hype" place.

What started out as a by chance crossing, at a "Friendsgiving" get together last year. Turned into us finally coming to the Real Pie Company. To share the wealth with our family and friends during the holidays. Last Thanksgiving one of our friends introduced us to the Real Pie Company, and their "Sweet Staple" Butterscotch Banana Cream Pie. This was by far one of the best pies that I'd ever tasted, and I needed to know what it was and where it was from...so I could try it again! This time I was having a family holiday get together and wanted to bring a dish, and decided to bring the Butterscotch Banana Cream Pie and another we'd never tried. From walking in I loved the small bakery look amd vibe, and seeing customers patiently waited to order. And or like us, not sure because there were so many delicious treats to choose from; both visually with what was already on display. And or what was featured on the display counter, and behind the register on the large menus categorized as "Sweet Staples", "December (Monthly)" and "Savory Items". Ordered: "Sweet staples menu" Blackberry + Wild Blueberry Pie Butterscotch Banana Cream Pie Note: BRING CASH! They have a2.5% charge for debit & credit card charges. So save yourself some money and use cash. I wasn't aware of this before we arrived as this was our first time here. And although our order came to $70, I only had $100's on me and they don't take bills that large. So I unfortunately wasn't able to pay in cash this time, but definitely will next time. Overall: Both pies were absolutely delicious and both were popular with my family holiday gathering. Everyone loved the sweetness of the Butterscotch Banana Cream Pie and those that love a tart pie. Absolutely loved the Blackberry + Wild Blueberry Pie. Will for sure be back again, and would highly recommend checking out the Real Pie Company if you haven't already.

What a lovely locally-owned pie shop in Sacramento! The inside feels cozy and welcoming, and the employees are kind. There is a small parking lot, but aside from that, you will have to resort to street parking. Their butterscotch banana cream pie is to die for. That was the only flavor I tried, but I would come back to try their other flavors, namely the chocolate cream pie and coconut cream pie.

First time trying this pie shop. The staff were very friendly and assisted with any questions we had. The inside was clean and maintained very well. We ordered the Butterscotch Banana Cream Pie and Coconut Cream Pie which both were absolutely delicious. Can't wait for summer to try out their pie shakes.

My sister highly recommended pies from Real Pie Company, and she gets them from the Soil Born farms. We visited their brick and mortar location for the first time and they had a great selection to choose from. I already know I will be back soon to try more. They offer pie slices as well as whole pies. We decided on slices of key lime, coconut cream, and pear and blackberry hand pie. We ordered the tangerine butter cookie, but when we got home we realized they mistakenly gave us the tangerine dream mini pie (which was good). We will be back to try their cookies! I have an affection for coconut cream pie and their version is really good. The crust is delicious (more like graham cracker texture versus a butter crust), and the cream layer had lots of flaked coconut which I loved. My sister really enjoyed the key lime pie as well. The hand pie was quite large and I enjoyed the filling. Service was great and we went when they opened so all the selections were available. I would like to try their sweet potato pie, chicken pot pie or shepards pie next time. Definitely getting more coconut cream next time too. They have a small parking lot and there are lots of street parking in the area.

Hours on Yelp are inaccurate. States they open at 12 pm so I got here just after 12 pm and everything was sold out. Turns out they opened at 11 am so everything was sold out due to opening earlier. If I had known this, I would've came earlier. Left empty handed. They need to learn to update their hours.

Current price list.

The pies we tried was key lime, banana butterscotch and dulce de leche poppers. All were delicious and freshly made and I really like their crust as I like the crust! Every bite was just right and not too sweet. Friendly staff and open area, easy parking but no sit down, all take out. Buy local!

Unfortunately they are no longer offering the pie shakes... Pies are still great, and our favorite is the butterscotch banana cream pie. I really only come for the pie shakes though.

This place is unreal. I don't consider myself much of a pie person, and even less so since I've been trying to cut back on carbs, but I was seriously contemplating a return trip here to pick up more pies. We came on a Thursday so they only had the pies in the case available instead of the full menu selection. Honestly, it made it easier for us to decide on what to bring home. We ended up getting a peach-nectarine pie along with slices of cherry pie, blackberry + wild blueberry, and coconut cream pie. Everything was superb. The fruit flavors were intense. The cream pie had a nice texture to it and wasn't filled with too much whipped cream. The crust on the pies was light and flaky - in a word, perfect.

Hours of operation

Real pie is hands down the best pie in Sacramento- all these one star or two star reviews are crazy - they sell out because they are popular , since when did that become an issue ? Also the hours are posted outside the store and even online on their own website - yelp messed up the hours , so rate them 1 star ? Weird . Sounds like people are so used to getting things handed to them or like one comment said going to chains where the quality is low and they can always be in stock becuase they have preservatives in them is where those people belong . Real pie I am so sorry for all the negative comments - it's a shame people rate low because your following is so high. I wish you continue to grow and the people that know you and love your pies like myself will continue to support you , because that's what this company deserves . Wild how much people talk negatively about something on social networks when IRL this company brought a great business to Sacramento, and believe me we needed a REAL PIE SHOP. Keep up the great work - your pies are awesome as always - and if I really want a pie I want to try from your menu I'll be sure to check your website and hours and be there when you open

AMAZING now added to my list of go to spots on broadway. The pie milkshake is one of the best milkshakes I've ever had with buttermilk ice cream and blackberry and blueberry pie. The pie in the shake added a nice texture. Also, the buttermilk icecream is custom made from Gunther's. I am eager to try the savory pies like the chicken pot pie of shepherd's pie (they were out when we visited) but I heard that they also supply to Nugget. I'll be picking up a savory pie soon. The staff was nice and answered all my questions. I like the vibe of this location, you get to see the bakers at work!

Ask the Community - Real Pie Company

Hi, I want to know if you're making strawberry rhubarb pie. My daughter favorite pie and that's all she wanted for her birthday. Is there a way you can make this pie for her?

We make rhubarb raspberry pie. Hope that helps! Thank you.

Is their buttermilk pie still available?

I did not see it when I went in there the other day.

Do they have Vegan Options?

No. They use real butter...

Do you have rhubarb pie?

They have featured some, but the pies do change frequently and are listed on the website/social media pages.

Do you have French apple pie?

Yes, but call first because they have various pies baked dependent upon produce supply.

Do you make sugar free pies? If so, what kind?

Check out their FAQs on their main page

Do you make any sugar free pies?

Where do you get your fruit to make these wonderful pies?

Hi, Don, we have a number of sources for our fruit! Whenever it is possible, we source from local farms. Thanks for your inquiry. Kira

Will you stay open late on weekends? I'd love for there to be another after dinner dessert option in Sacramento.

Hi, eventually we will be open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights during the warm season. We have to get our day staff trained and feeling confident before we then bring on a second staff for the evenings! Not sure how long that will take. But…

Will you have any sugar free pies?

There are savory pies available like shepherds or chicken pot pie

There is no seating inside but there are a few benches outside. I think the favorite thing I got here was their "not pizza" which was their sourdough bread topped with delicious tomato sauce, cheese, etc. Amazing and so soft and fluffy. I also really enjoyed their banana bread (insanely moist) and egg and ham cup. Prices are reasonable (croissants are less than $5) and service is fast despite the line out the door. Very high quality stuff and worth the drive if you are coming from out of the area. You won't be disappointed. I wouldn't be surprised if this place continues to get more popular. Live Bluegrass music at 8 AM. This is what life should be like! I only found this spot because I was nearby and looking for a bite to eat. I heard that there was usually a line out the door and I must've had good timing because there was only about five people in front of me and I was able to walk right in and just have a short wait in line. I grabbed the chocolate banana bread, a garlic bun, a potato and crème fraîche, savory pastry, and an egg and ham pastry. Definitely been on a big banana bread kick lately and this one did not disappoint. Tons of chocolate chips! The garlic bun was by far my absolute favorite. It was crispy and at the same time so buttery like a croissant, and the garlic flavor was amazing. Not overpowering not that spicy garlic taste when a recipe overdoes it, just perfect garlic, butter, crisp and light. Absolute heaven. I was a little sad that I was there alone and no one to share it with so I'm sharing with all of you today... you absolutely have to try this spot Lots of little items for purchase on the shelf to some handmade pottery, hand, carved salad, tongs, and even print of the bakery. This is definitely my favorite find in a very long time

I set my pickup on a Sunday at 12 pm. There is a number to notify the bakery you're there for your pickup. Unfortunately, they were so slammed no one picked up and it went to vm. I couldn't go inside since I had my 1 year old asleep in the car. I parked near the front and knocked on the window. An employee saw me and gave me excellent and expeditious customer service! Respectful, kind, and appreciative for my business. I wish I got his name! He walked the cake all the way to my car and made sure I took a peak to see if my cake was correct. We ordered the Strawberry White Chocolate Mousse cake for my son's 18th birthday. Not super sweet even though white chocolate can be that way. The mousse was light and not too decadent. This cake is one to please many! We're still eating the leftovers 7 days later. As long as it's in an airtight container it'll taste just as amazing as the first day.

Ummm... I have mixed feelings about this place…read more Let's start with the positives because there are plenty. The cakes, pastries, and beverages were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. In fact, the cakes impressed me so much that I can honestly see myself ordering future birthday and celebration cakes from here. The ordering process was smooth, and the décor is gorgeous, making it a really inviting place to spend some time. I enjoyed the bakery so much that I came back a week later to try lunch. Unfortunately, that's where things took a turn. I ordered the burger, and someone in my party had the salmon burger. Both were incredibly bland. It honestly tasted like no salt or seasoning had been added at all. If you prefer very lightly seasoned food, this might be right up your alley, but it just wasn't for me. The iced tea also comes unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you're expecting sweet tea. One small thing that could also be improved is the ordering setup. There are separate lines for the bakery and the kitchen, but when it gets busy it can be a little confusing--especially since you order first and then find a seat. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the pastries, cakes, and drinks. The bakery side is outstanding. As for lunch, though, it left me wanting a lot more flavor.

I decided to go for the chicken and mushroom congee. (rice porridge.). I also got a green onion hotdog roll to take home with me. To drink, I had a green tea with lemon. The congee was amazing. A rich complex flavor. It had a little bit of ginger in it, you could definitely taste the ginger, but it did not overwhelm the rest of the porridge. The chicken was good, and for the mushroom, they used black mushrooms, which have a deeper flavor than regular mushrooms. So very good. It looked like a small bowl, but I couldn't finish it. Some came home with me, and it reheated very well. It also came with Chinese donuts to put in the porridge. Chinese donuts are a little bit different. They definitely taste like a doughnut, except they are not sweet at all. They are savory donuts, and are perfect to use as a crouton, so to speak. The green tea was very good, and they didn't overdo it with the lemon, and that hotdog roll that I had later, the pastry was delicious with just a little bit of a "chew" to it, they were definitely high-quality hot dogs, and it wasn't just green onion. They had something mixed in, I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't taste raw like green onion can. Just a great lunch. I'll be back. Thanks.

We really enjoyed the biscuits themselves as they didn't leave a dry or grainy feeling in your mouth. They had a good crust while being airy and light inside. The sandwiches were good, but they were anything crazy. Size wise it is small for the price you get, but I get it. It's all house made and fresh. We definitely think the biscuits themselves are the standout. The blueberry and brown sugar biscuits were a sweet tooth's heaven. The cinnamon roll wasn't too sweet either and had great texture and basically melted in your mouth. The very berry pastry was my favorite. The cream was light, fresh, and had just the right amount of sweetness, and the fruit on top tasted fresh and sweet. The hash brown bread with ham and cheese was very dense and filling, making it a great savory option. I loved the self-serve pastry setup and appreciated how large the bakery selection was.
