There's nothing better than finding a GF/DF option while on vacation that is actually good. And by good, I mean stellar. My partner and I came here after a long day, we got there 15 minutes before the Rebel Roots truck closed, but they were still super friendly and ready to take our order! I went with the Hawaiian pork bowl and absolutely smashed it. Don't read this wrong, it was still a good size but it was so delicious that it was impossible not to finish. The best part? I didn't feel bloated after and it kept me satisfied. I wish we had something like this back home! My only note is that they are only open until 6 pm - so plan accordingly for lunch or an early dinner! read more

I got the Mahi Mahi Bowl yesterday. The truck was greatly decorated and there was nice outdoor seating with some games. When they said 20-25 minutes, they meant it and even if it was the minimum time they said they'd take they only took 20-25 minutes. The Mahi Mahi tasted really fresh which was really nice and interesting since I think that fish is local to Hawaii. Loved this spot. Rebel Roots Kitchen was such an unexpected surprise in Whitefish. The food was excellent. We ordered the tofu bowl and pork bowl, and both were incredibly tasty and fresh. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and honestly made our day. The service was just as good as the food. The gentleman taking our order was very polite, helpful, and welcoming, even though we were obviously from (way) out of town. The bowl is vegan I believe, and while I'm not vegan I still found it to be super flavorful, unique, and well crafted. With fresh ingredients and a good mix of veggies, blueberries, mango, the PEANUT SAUCE- seriously this place is so worth trying!!! The tofu tacos were great also and a lighter option vs. the bowl. Rebel Roots Kitchen is incredible and if I were a local I would be eating here once a week! Went with a group of 3 and to say we found heaven on a plate might not be fair to the food. Everything was perfection, flavors were singing in every bite and the cook on the meat, tofu and veggies was nailed. It's a simple menu but it's gluten and dairy free. It offers vegan options, making it truly something for everyone. We were able to order at the truck, go sit down and get our food delivered to us! That was unexpected and appreciated, although I can't imagine they can do that if it's busier. But the service was fast and incredible, and being able to sit outside, in the shade and enjoy a wonderful meal is a great way to go. So if you haven't guessed by now, I highly recommend getting to Rebel Roots and eating all you can, to support them and so I can live through you and your enjoyment of such wonderful food. After a week of having non stop steak, burgers, bison, and elk, we wanted something different. This place popped up next to our hotel. Saw that they had bowls and tacos that reminded me of chipotle. I had the ahi poke bowl and husband had the Mahi Mahi. One bite and I felt like I was back in socal. So refreshing. I am not a fan of rice cauliflower but this was amazing! It was warm and had so much flavor. And the fish, I don't know where they get it from but it's fresh and tender. Reminded me of the fish in Hawaii. Have been missing my healthy socal food and this really hit the spot. The guy running it was nice and his dog was there and was so friendly. We took it to go but you can eat it there. There are tables, benches and a couple of hammocks there. Giving Hawaiian vibes. Everything on the menu is gluten free and dairy free. The restaurant is a little hard to find. It's in the front right corner of an old bar. Look for the hand written chalk board on the sidewalk in front of the bar. There seemed to be a miss match with this healthy food in an old stale smelly bar. We took our meal to go and ate on the bench in front of the bar outside. We got the pulled pork and Mahi mahi. It was so good ! . The fresh mango sauce was excellent. We even ordered another to go meal after we finished our original meals. We did have a mix up with our last to go order and the lady cooking the food wasn't very helpful and seemed very stressed but the man taking the orders helped resolve the issue. AWESOME. WE were lucky to be staying at Apres and this truck sits on their property. We tried 3 things because we couldn't decide: pork tacos, Hawaiian pork bowl, and the mahi fish bowl. The mahi was cooked to perfection and ended up being my favorite dish. The pork bowl and tacos were excellent and the mango salsa was next level. THE BEST MEAL we had on our entire trip through Montana and Wyoming. The mahi mahi tacos were over the top delicious, fresh, flavorful and satisfying. The tofu tacos were good too, but completely different taste profile (think peanut forward). Highly recommend if you are in the area. What a delightful surprise. I am so thankful we came across Rebel Roots Kitchen while searching for healthy food options in Whitefish. It's challenging to find options that accommodate our gluten-sensitive and dairy-free dietary restrictions as we travel. This one not only accommodated, everything on their menu is GF, DF, and non-GMO (a huge bonus), and it was extremely tasty. I had the mahi mahi bowl and my husband had the pork bowl. Both were delicious and nutritious. My only suggestion is for them to offer canned water other than just sparking canned water for those traveling who might not know to BYOB.
