I never felt rushed or like the length of time I was there was too much. The boot color I wanted was not in stock, and like magic UPS delivered them while I was sitting there! I'm in from out of town looking for a hat for work. I only had two really guidelines and that was it had to be a cattleman's crease and something I could beat the heck out of because in law enforcement we sometimes get our hats knocked off our heads. Walked in and was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of hats on the wall and thought I was about to get roped into trying on a million different hats. I wish I had asked for her name but the nice lady working today was super friendly and enthusiastic. She immediately had an idea for me to try and I instantly loved it! I also appreciate she didn't try to put me in a crazy expensive hat. I've shopped at 805 Work & Play, aka 805 Western for over ten years now at both her old location and the new store next to Tarantula Hill Brewery on T.O. Blvd. She carries the work boots I need for construction but also has the high end boots and hats I need for showing my performance horses. She doesn't carry any of those cheap Chinese knock offs that predominate in the big box boot stores. I recently took up cowboy single action shooting and she (Lety) was able to quickly get me all the vintage (1800's) pants, shirts, hats and boots from that era. It helped that she has dressed actors for Westerns, when it comes to authenticity. What kept me coming back, time and again is her no b...s... advise on my complete outfits. She is more than willing to say no to some of the things I've liked and she explains why it doesn't go with the look I'm trying for. When you walk in the store there is a sofa and two lounge chairs where local cowboys, cowgirls and vaqueros can sit and talk and that wonderful smell of leather. read more

I came to this store because a bunch of friends recommended them as a place I could get the crown of my hat reshaped. I also love finding small, family owned, western clothing stores because I try to support local when I can. Through "friendly" conversation, I discovered I wasn't welcome in this store... since I mentioned I "work for a competitor." The lady inside followed me around and wouldn't stop talking about how the company I used to work for is a "multibillion dollar company" that keeps sending "their people" into their store to "scope the place out" and "check prices" and "see merchandise." I was not sent by anyone, I just wanted my hat reshaped and was initially willing to buy merchandise... until it felt uncomfortable, passive aggressive, and unwelcoming. read more

I love this little gem in the heart of Thousand Oaks. I stopped in there at the last minute the day before the 6/4/16 OakHeart Country Music Festival. I was immediately greeted by Letty who was in the throes of packing up merchandise for their vendor booth at the Festival. She dropped everything for me to find the perfect pair of boots. Although what we found at the time did not not work out (my bad, it was very close to closing time), she told me to come by their booth at the Festival as a lot of merchandise was going to be displayed there. Lo and behold, I found the perfect match! At a very fair price too. They have a great selection of really cute women's clothes as well. And if you can't find what you are looking for, Letty will offer to order it for you.
