We stayed at the nearby Marriott in July, and Rebol kept popping up in all of my nearby Yelp restaurant searches. On our second morning in town, we decided to stop by. Thankfully, we made it just minutes before they stopped serving breakfast since that's really what I had been eyeing. After placing our orders, I was a bit underwhelmed by the expo out process. Beverages weren't delivered or called out until the entire meal was ready, and a couple items were missing from our bag that we had to go back to the counter to request and collect. Some process improvement here would have really elevated the experience. Traveling and dining out always equals eating way too many carbs, so I made sure to select the Breakfast Bol (eggs, goat cheese, sweet potato, kale, and onions) with bacon. It was tasty, and a great breakfast to eat before walking around downtown all morning. I have also done the Keto diet twice over the last several years, and this restaurant would be heaven for those eating Keto, Paleo, Gluten Free, or Vegetarian. Rebol you are an awesome concept both in theory and execution! Now the idea is simple a few choices of organic proteins and NON-GMO veggies and sauces that allow you to create your own "Bols". You can also pick from a few Signature Bols like the Vegan Falafel (which I had) or others like the Tuna Poke my colleague had. All are made fresh and more than reasonably price for the quality of food you are getting. My Falafel Vegan Bol was absolutely delicious it was comprised of kale & cabbage slaw / miso cabbage / hummus / jalapeño green curry and pickled veggies. The cabbage is pure perfection! A perfect smokey, crunchy incredibly delicious bite of food. Now add that to the green curry, hummus and falafel and you have food porn in a bol! My friends Tuna Poke Bol also looked delicious with a big portion of some of the freshest tuna I've seen in a while! So if you find yourself in downtown Cleveland make sure to pay this place a visit. I stopped in on a Sunday morning with a few friends while we were in town for the Natural Ohio. They have lots of healthy options and I wish I lived here so I could come back to try everything on their menu. I got the overnight oats, a pour over coffee, and a peanut butter mocha that a friend recommended I stop here for. And.... now I have to recommend the same to anyone reading this review. My favorite part was the last sip where it was the coffee mixed with some crunchy PB - part of me wishes that the peanut butter had been better distributed throughout the drink but that last sip was really something special. I ordered the "Signature Brisket" bol with rice, grilled veggies, hummus, crispy garlic, jalapeño and something called "Yum Yum". Front desk at Hampton Inn recommended Rebol and was located in a nice park plaza down the street from where we're staying. This restaurant has seriously slipped. This was the second time I ordered from this restaurant and I ordered exactly what I ordered before. I used the GrubHub app which has found a way to keep reviews off the site( if you rate the delivery person right away, usually highly motivated, you are blocked from rating the food you have yet to open.slick. I ordered a steak and grilled veg on a bed of rice and sweet potato. The sweet potato was partially raw,the rice appeared converted. The "grilled veggies" turned out to be a few smaller than a postage stamp pieces of onion,two large RAW pieces of red pepper,and half a zucchini RAW and sliced large. The expensive "healthy brother" was room temperature water vaguely tasting like ginger. This was nothing like my first experience. Everything was cold. This was not the fault of the driver. Out of curiosity I watched on my device as food was picked up and delivered. This food sat waiting a long time. Anyone who has ever gardened knows what happens when you plant zucchini ( too much zucchini), I understand a merchant using seasonal produce. What I don't agree with is not grilling it as described (too gooey on your grill? Loses too much heavy water?) This was gross. Raw potato? Disgusting. expensive tap water? A cynical rip off. If you want to become the McDonald's of "healthy" food you should price accordingly. I would argue that raw peppers, potatoes, and zucchini will feel anything but healthy when the gut tries to digest. I love Rebol! I'm not from the area, so I trusted my Yelp app to lead me to a nice spot to grab a beverage, something to eat, and hop on my laptop for a few. When I walked into Rebol I got so much more than I bargained for! The vibe is trendy, upbeat, and cool. Everyone working there was young and very nice. The food looked delicious and it was. They offer bone broth sippers, bols, and smoothies. My husband and I opted to make our own bol, although they do have pre-made combos to choose from. I went with chicken as my protein, sticky rice for my base, street corn salsa and avocado and sweet potato pico as my toppings, bacon aioli for my sauce, and scallions for my garnish. Not only was this absolutely delicious, but it was nice knowing that their ingredients are 100% non GMO, organic when possible, and the dressings/sauces are free of refined sugar. To drink Rebol offers coffee, mimosas, bloody Marys, craft beer, wine, and cider. I had a can of Cidergeist which was a first for me. Bubbles are my favorite and this Cincy made rose ale was refreshingly delicious. One of the workers suggested it to me and I'm glad she did! Rebol is conveniently located in the center of the city and they have a nice outdoor space as well -- including a ping pong table! PROS -Unique offering. I like that you can get food (rice bowl stuff), breakfast (daily), coffee beverages, smoothies, alcoholic beverages and the like here. It is so random, but somehow it works here. -No GMOs. And sourced locally when possible. -Sensitive to lots of different types of diets. Gluten-Free, paleo-friendly, vegan, vegetarian. And even though I fall in none of those categories, I feel like I am eating healthier because of it :P -Location. They are not near Public Square...they are IN it. Love that the seating outside is right by the new fountains. Or I can just walk to the other side of the square and have a little picnic. CONS -Limited food menu. I've only ever had great food when I've been there, but I've only ever been able to select from ~6 things (at least the bowls). I am not creative enough to create my own bowl, though that is an option. -(Indoor) seating is limited. It's a small place, but that should not stop you from trying it out. If it's a nice day, just plan to eat outside! And if it's a crappy day, just get it to-go. BOTTOM LINE -Public Square isn't just a destination to take selfies with the statues or fountains...it's also a destination for some pretty amazing food, too! read more
