Haven't been here in awhile, always a good Bfast and lunch place. Ingredients are from the West Side Market. Can't go wrong. Good menu. Lots of choices from salads, soup, apps to sandwiches. Space is decent. They have a counter and tables throughout. Can fit a healthy amount of people. Service was good. Prices are about average, I'd say most things are around $15. We got the little Johnny burger. Our server said the burgers were really good so we thought we'd try. It was pretty good. Sides you can choose fries, Greek potato salad, and cole slaw. I got the seasoned fries. Could have been cooked a bit more. And they were short little pieces. And my partner got the geek potato salad. It is oil based with red onion, tomato, cucumber, olives and feta cheese. It was good. Burger was good too. I'd get it again. Place was hopping. Nice to see. This cafe was exactly what we were looking for after strolling through the market and not finding something that quite hit the spot for lunch! A menu with a solid number of breakfast (served all day, score!) and lunch options, a bathroom, plenty of seating, very reasonable prices (mostly between $12-$16 or so), and I like that they regularly purchase some products from the market vendors! At our table for 3, we tried the Chicken Fried Steak (came with eggs, delicious buttered rosemary toast, and home fries), West Side Omelette (also came with the famed toast and home fries), and a burger that came with french fries, which I think were actually tastier than the home fries! I only tasted my meal (CFS) but everyone enjoyed their food which came out quickly and with a friendly attitude (somehow this matters much more than I'd like to admit). They have high chairs and crayons for kids, but there is no true changing table in the bathroom (there's a small table that's better than nothing). If this were a standalone cafe somewhere else, I might not have wandered in, but I'm glad it was here to fulfill my need today! read more

A nostalgic place in Cleveland. This place is a piece of Cleveland history. A small casual café. They have quite the selection on the menu with some unique touches to it. It was busy and we were lucky to get a seat immediately. The waitress was instantly at our table. Once we ordered we didn't wait long for our food at all. This small place was right next to the West Side Market where they had connecting doors. There was also a bar with a good amount of seating. The menu had a variety of choices to choose from. The service was very friendly, and the food came out in a timely manner. I had the Big Lebowski ($16.75?). It was a sandwich with muenster cheese, sauerkraut, onions, kielbasa, and potato cheddar pierogies. It was also on grilled rosemary bread. I never saw pierogies on a sandwich so had to give it a try. This was great mix of flavors and very filling. The rosemary bread was the key as it was grilled perfectly with a perfect amount of rosemary where it was not overpowerful. I really enjoyed the pierogies on here. There was also a side of fries that had a simple seasoning of paprika, garlic salt, and a little bit of cayenne I believe. They were hot and done right. I kind of fell in love with the entire West Side Market during a recent trip to Cleveland, and the small cafe off the eastern side is just my style. I dig a good diner, and this place fit the bill. Cozy, humble and friendly with great greasy spoon food. My kiddo and I popped in for a late breakfast while shopping. She got a pumpkin waffle that was on special with candied pecans and caramel, and devoured the entire thing. I was perfectly happy with my corned beef hash and eggs. Nothing bougie. Just damn good. I was surprised to see all the rave reviews for this place. I went in around 9 on a Wednesday. I was excited at the claim on their website that they use fresh ingredients from the market, but having eaten the food, I can't believe that's true. The eggs tasted like powdered eggs, the toast was a bit stale, the potatoes had the "sweet" taste of winter storage potatoes (although they were good despite that). I got the "spicy bacon" which was regular bacon smothered in a weird hot sauce. Wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. The waitresses earn them all the stars here - they're a fun group. read more

Visited West Side Market Cafe this morning. My friend and I sat at the counter. Our waitress was very friendly and provided A+++ service. Coffee refills were frequent. I struggled to pick between options on the menu because everything looked good. I settled on the Eggs Benedict. The entree and accompanying potatoes were very good. Diner inside an open air seafood and meat market, this was a nice little gem inside an otherwise bustling and somewhat smelly fish market! Always a pleasure coming here to see all the different vendors and yes there is many to chose from and the selection is magical. The building and its history is amazing and it's just so nice to have in the city. As for parking I don't know sometimes it's tickets and you pay sometimes it's free or well I hope it is because the gates are up. My dad and I stopped for lunch here for the first time and it was a lovely experience. Our waitress was kind, helpful and attentive, bringing us napkins and refills without even asking if we needed them. We each got the Brunch burger and they were delicious, the patties and bacon were cooked to perfection and the fried eggs on top were perfectly runny. Not too crowded for a Sunday at 12pm either. My mom, my daughter, and I visited West Side Market Cafe the morning of the eclipse, and it was hopping! You could tell there were a lot of out-of-towners by the various Eclipse 2024 t-shirts we were sporting. The space was cosy (some might even say crowded) and it boosted the eclipse-related bonhomie. Despite the chaotic rush, our party of three was seated immediately, and service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Our server was clearly an expert and she treated us with witty irreverence, which we very much enjoyed. My daughter and I both got "The Mess," which is an assembly of everything that's good about breakfast, served with a side of toast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries are slathered in sausage gravy and topped with cheese. As we found out, it is possible to customize The Mess by omitting whichever ingredient you don't like (I'm not telling which we omitted lol). The toast we both chose was rosemary, and it was absolutely delicious! Delicious like my mouth is watering as I think about it. My mom got a traditional eggs, sausage, and toast breakfast. Stopped in here on a Saturday morning around 930 and the place was starting to get packed. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken about as quickly. We had one of the winter specials, the chicken and waffles, and the kielbasa hash. All 3 of us agreed that all three meals were 10/10 good. We wouldn't have changed a thing. The waffle was like a cornbread waffle and it had great crisp and flavor. The chicken was the same way: crispy and had flavorful breading. The honey butter is a must. The hash was loaded with kielbasa and onions. The crispy potatoes/hashbrowns had an old bay-like seasoning on the outside and were also crispy. We loved it all. Theres a variety of seating and tons of old pictures hung around the walls. Definitely must have breakfast here when visiting the area. read more

So, I wanted to dine in somewhere and get what Cleveland, OH is known for such as their pierogies, kielbasas and corn beef sandwich. I also liked how the place was old school and homey feeling. The place seemed to be family owned. Food wise, we shared and got the Corned Beef Reuben which comes with 1000 island dressing on the side. Ordered from the specials menu too and got the Pieorgi and Sausage Platter along with a bed of cabbage along the side which comes with fried pieorgies, Kielbasas and German sausages with three sauces on the side - mustard, salsa, and cottage cheese. I recently tried what's supposed to be their "famous" corned beef Reuben, and honestly, it was a complete letdown. The sandwich was absolutely drenched in oil--grease leaking from every side. The bread was tiny, the portion shockingly small, and it was paired with limp, soggy fries that had no business being on a plate. It feels like diners used to take pride in the food they served, but this plate was practically crying for help. I don't know if the cook was just having an off day or what, but calling this an "insult" to any decent Reuben would be putting it mildly. The cold Thousand Island sauce on the side added nothing to the experience but disappointment. For the price they're charging, you'd think they'd put some care into it--but nope. I'm getting more frustrated the more I think about it. If you can't make a proper Reuben, take it off the menu and stick to breakfast. read more

I started eating it as soon as I got it because it looked so good (that's why we are missing a couple bites in the pic)! The shell stayed crunchy and never got soggy, and I deff recommend using the sour cream and salsa... it adds even more flavor to this wonderful dish!! Absolutely fantastic! We went on a busy Sunday morning and we were seated quickly and served quickly! I wanted the mushroom melt but I wanted corned beef added to it and I was NOT disappointed!!
