    California Roll Omlet
    Amy S.

Tried the California roll omlet. It tasted really good, the crab was fresh, a few bits of shell were in my omlet. The servers were friendly and attentive. Love the art and quotes on the wall. Not to busy on a weekday for breakfast.

    Reuben - best sauerkraut ever!

Bailey was our server and she rocks! The Reuben sandwich has the best (sour) sauerkraut I have eaten in at least a decade. The fries were appropriately crispy and potato-y The dining room is spacious, clean and not overstuffed with seating. The restroom was also clean. I wish I lived closer, because I would be a regular.

Yummy food, attentive staff, and generous portions! This is a hidden gem in Troy. Very homey feel, perfect for any occasion. We LOVE their sticky buns, a must try. Their stuffed avocado salad was huge, but the dressing was nice and light and very refreshing. It came with a whole avocado and large scoops of tuna. If you are a fan of brussel sprouts, definitely order their brussel sprout hash from the specials menu! The crab cake Benedict was yummy too. Very generous portion but not too heavy or salty! They have a parking lot in the back and even offer DoorDash. Lots of menu options if you are craving sweet or salty. They even have delicious Vietnamese food! You can't go wrong. Definitely stop by their Troy or Rochester location!

Greeted when we entered and our waitress, Sharon, was super attentive and nice. Food was just ok, nothing amazing to lure us back. Took off a star because the food was super slow in arriving to the table and they weren't super busy. I had scrambled eggs, ham, toast, potatoes. My husband had a scramble, his comment, "too many potatoes."

Family owned breakfast/brunch restaurant that offers plenty of different food. They even have thai and vietnamese food. The design is very cozy and the service was quick. My husband and I enjoyed the food a lot.

    Garden Hash

Unassuming place from the outside. Great food within. A mix of American and Asian recipes. We ate here twice in a row for breakfast. They have an impressive menu (large). I had the garden hash 5/5 and the burrata toast 5/5. My wife and kids all ordered different things. All 5/5. Yummy fancy interesting tasty.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with amazing food, Recipes is the place to be! This small Asian-American owned gem has a fantastic ambiance and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend the sticky buns--just the right amount of sweetness. Also tried the Brussels sprouts hash, stuffed avocado salad, and crab cake Benedict. All delicious, fresh, and generous portions. Tons of options for any craving, and everything is made with care. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!

Food was good. Service was excellent. Our server Rico was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant had a British or traverse city small restaurant. Very nice ambiance.

Recipes is a nice little breakfast spot that's close by! Cozy! Super friendly waiters and waitresses. Service is always 10/10. This place is nothing too special, but is always consistent. This time I got the crab cake eggs Benedict. Wasn't too salty surprisingly. The crab cakes were not too overpowering. It was well seasoned. The Benedict sauce was on point (one of the better ones around)! Can't wait to try something else on the menu!

    Straggler skillet with multigrain toast.

Our party of three stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The restaurant is light and bright. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. My mother had the avocado toast with poached eggs, which she enjoyed. My husband had an omelette which he also enjoyed. I had the Straggler Skillet. Skillets are my go to when out for breakfast and usually it's a safe choice, but not at Recipes. The straggler comes with ham, tomato, onion and mushrooms. Usually the vegetables in a skillet are cooked before being added to the potatoes. Not here. I believe they took scoops of the vegetables and added them to the potatoes before topping with cheese. The only cooking seems to have been the melting of the cheese before adding the eggs. I ate part of the skillet before the raw white onion became too much to continue eating. In addition, I ordered hot tea and the others ordered coffee. My husband asked for a refill but the hostess who was helping refill cups wouldn't give him coffee because she saw my hot water pot near him. We got it straightened out but it took a lot more explaining then it really should have. The customer has a coffee cup and asked for a refill. Why give him a hard time because there is a tea pot on the table where two other people are also seated? We are glad we gave Recipes a try but likely won't return.

The food and service were excellent. We love coming here!!

My matcha latte was pretty mid -- not a coffee shop so I wouldn't necessarily expect anything incredible but it could have been hotter, at least. The frittata was very good and a generous portion -- I took part of it home for later. The pistachio pesto sauce really adds to it. I'd return to try more of their brunch menu (or others) without complaint -- why not!?

I do want to start with some thoughts before I give the highlights. We were charged a percent for using a credit card. I cannot speak to the in-person menu, but I combed the online menu and it did not mention that. We were also charged for ranch. Most places do not do that, and we were not informed there would be an upcharge. Most places allow you a sauce to go with fries. Also, for my meal, there is an image of an extra sauce which it did not come with, but we were charged for two small portions of ranch. Last, the server was just okay. I always enthusiastically ask questions to get to know more about a place. I asked if they had any other fruity drinks. She pointed to the drink menu and indicated just the Paloma. I said, but you have a full bar, this is the only fruity drink you make? She did not want to ask the bar, but I asked her to. The bar apparently only came up with one other drink idea, which I ended up getting two drinks listed on the menu (both very good) but it seemed like work for her to go out of her way to inquire. I also bet they could have made many fruity drinks, like maybe a Mai Tai, or some equivalent. Oh well. On the other hand, the Paloma was actually very good. It was a quality Paloma and I do recommend. Their other drink was seasonal with lavender, also a very nice drink. Most of the other places, like Honcho, I have no problem with getting a variety of drinks or inquiring about them, and the bar tender here did a great job. I came here because I was targeted by an ad on Instagram. This place was not on my radar, but since they created a meal (Steak-frites) very similar to Le Relais in Paris and New York, etc... I wanted to try it. It came with bottomless parm fries. The fries were crispy, savory, and delightful. The steak was super well cooked and was like butter. You did not even need a knife, it cut with a fork. Since I love next day leftovers, the steak was still super delicious and tender the next day. It was still like butter and cut with a fork. I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed. I am not able to compare since this was my first time, but I liked that they had a steak dinner and pizza. If we come back my oldest loves this group's pizza, she gets it at Vinsetta, and this one looked very good.

Waitress asked if I had any allergies, I said no but my friend joining me soon was gluten free. My friend still had to specifically request the gluten free menu when she got there, after looking at the regular menu & not finding any markings of what food was gluten free. It would have been nice if the waitress had just brought it right away. I had the lunch size Gnocchi Carbonara, which was delicious! I did have the suggested wine pairing, which was very good with my food. And what a great idea to offer some lunch sized portions of some of the dishes (ends at 3pm). My friend had the gluten free grilled mahi mahi sandwich & side of Asian slaw, which she enjoyed. They weren't super busy & we sat quite awhile to chat. Really enjoyed it & will definitely go back. Looking forward to trying some of the other menu items!

But I found it odd that the bar didn't have any chairs. Our server (I think his name was Darren, or something like that?) was very good. He explained about the bin numbers next to the entree descriptions and was just generally kind and helpful. Several people ordered salads, and they looked very good. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken from their Life Balance section. I enjoyed it very much. I don't usually like warm tomatoes, but the ones in this dish were really good. Honestly, I'm surprised that this was a lower calorie dish, as it certainly was plentiful, filling and satisfying.
