    Reuben - best sauerkraut ever!
    Doug R.

Bailey was our server and she rocks! The Reuben sandwich has the best (sour) sauerkraut I have eaten in at least a decade. The fries were appropriately crispy and potato-y The dining room is spacious, clean and not overstuffed with seating. The restroom was also clean. I wish I lived closer, because I would be a regular.

Yummy food, attentive staff, and generous portions! This is a hidden gem in Troy. Very homey feel, perfect for any occasion. We LOVE their sticky buns, a must try. Their stuffed avocado salad was huge, but the dressing was nice and light and very refreshing. It came with a whole avocado and large scoops of tuna. If you are a fan of brussel sprouts, definitely order their brussel sprout hash from the specials menu! The crab cake Benedict was yummy too. Very generous portion but not too heavy or salty! They have a parking lot in the back and even offer DoorDash. Lots of menu options if you are craving sweet or salty. They even have delicious Vietnamese food! You can't go wrong. Definitely stop by their Troy or Rochester location!

I've driven past Recipes at Crooks and Big Beaver in Troy more times than I can count. From the outside, it honestly doesn't look like much, which is probably why I never stopped in. But this morning, while scrolling on my phone, it somehow popped up in my feed. I checked it out and thought, wow, this place looks amazing. I decided today was the day--and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. I was greeted by two different people right away, which immediately made me feel welcome. After I sat down, I met Grace--who was absolutely outstanding. I loved that she wrote her name on the paper at my table so I wouldn't forget it. Such a simple touch, but it really stood out. She was upbeat, friendly, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I ordered the Country Benedict with a glass of water and an unsweetened iced tea. First of all, I have to say how much I appreciated the cubed potatoes instead of hash browns. I'm not a fan of undercooked or raw potatoes--I like them cooked--and these were perfect. The Country Benedict itself was incredible: an English muffin topped with chicken, a perfectly poached egg, and gravy. Oh my God--it was so delicious. I honestly cannot believe I've never been here before. This place is amazing. The food was excellent, the service was top‑notch, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Hands down, I will be back.

Greeted when we entered and our waitress, Sharon, was super attentive and nice. Food was just ok, nothing amazing to lure us back. Took off a star because the food was super slow in arriving to the table and they weren't super busy. I had scrambled eggs, ham, toast, potatoes. My husband had a scramble, his comment, "too many potatoes."

Family owned breakfast/brunch restaurant that offers plenty of different food. They even have thai and vietnamese food. The design is very cozy and the service was quick. My husband and I enjoyed the food a lot.

Unassuming place from the outside. Great food within. A mix of American and Asian recipes. We ate here twice in a row for breakfast. They have an impressive menu (large). I had the garden hash 5/5 and the burrata toast 5/5. My wife and kids all ordered different things. All 5/5. Yummy fancy interesting tasty.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with amazing food, Recipes is the place to be! This small Asian-American owned gem has a fantastic ambiance and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend the sticky buns--just the right amount of sweetness. Also tried the Brussels sprouts hash, stuffed avocado salad, and crab cake Benedict. All delicious, fresh, and generous portions. Tons of options for any craving, and everything is made with care. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!

Food was good. Service was excellent. Our server Rico was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant had a British or traverse city small restaurant. Very nice ambiance.

Recipes is a nice little breakfast spot that's close by! Cozy! Super friendly waiters and waitresses. Service is always 10/10. This place is nothing too special, but is always consistent. This time I got the crab cake eggs Benedict. Wasn't too salty surprisingly. The crab cakes were not too overpowering. It was well seasoned. The Benedict sauce was on point (one of the better ones around)! Can't wait to try something else on the menu!

We started with fresh juices--detox: a bright orange juice that tasted like a refreshing citrus blend Immuno: a carrot, orange and apple blend. Both were vibrant, freshly made, and genuinely delicious. Eggs Benedict with hash browns: perfectly poached eggs, Canadian bacon, and a generous, creamy hollandaise sauce on an English muffin. Hash browns were crisp and nicely browned. We also ordered the classic breakfast with two eggs, ham, and hash browns--simple, hearty, and very satisfying. The food was beautifully presented, the outdoor setting was pleasant, and the fresh juices were a standout. A great spot for a relaxed weekend brunch.

My servers are usually always attentive. Today was very weird though, so I don't think I'll be coming back. I ordered an Americano and then was some discussion from the barista (?) on whether it was a single or a double espresso shot. Then someone, I didn't look to see who, was ranting about how Americanos are SO STUPID and why wouldn't I just order a $2 espresso shot instead. The guy sitting at the bar asked her to repeat it and they all laughed. WTF? If you're going to talk trash about your customers, at least wait til they leave. Rude.

I've heard about Whistle Stop Diner and wanted to try this place out. While on my way to the cat…read morerescue to donate cat food, I decided that since this was in the area, I would grab a bite and check the place out. There's limited parking but it's not terribly impossible to get a spot. I walked inside and the place was jamming! Patio was full, families waiting outside, and the windows open. Since it was just me, I was able to get seated at a two top, unfortunately right in the middle of the place. There was bar seating, but I wasn't feeling it this time, so two top table it was. The menu has a great selection of breakfast and lunch items for most anyone. I was torn between the breakfast burrito, potato pancakes and the breakfast burger. After asking my waitress some questions, I went with the breakfast burrito with chicken instead of chorizo. (no pork for me!) I made this decision based off the fact that they were able to swap out the pork for chicken, and it wasn't a massive burrito, I loved the food and it was just the right portions. Hash browns were good, but tasted a bit funky. I don't know how to describe it, but maybe it was like the grill just got cleaned? I didn't finish them all because of the odd flavor, but also due to me inhaling my burrito at an accelerated pace. My server was fantastic and handled everything like a champ. Decor is spot on and I enjoyed my time here. Will return in the future!

The only chaos is because they're so busy from open till close, so expect a wait time. There is another location too that is just as good, just parking is easier here. If you come for breakfast/brunch you won't be disappointed. I haven't tried the lunch style dishes. They do have a parking lot and there's a lot of space at the restaurant next-door as well as street parking. As many times as I've been to here, I typically sit up at the bar, they do you have multiple tables as well as outdoor seating. There are a variety of breakfast libations and beer. I typically get a variety of omelettes and I've never been disappointed. On my most recent visit I tried a steak skillet and the steak was seasoned well, it was tender with the eggs and vegetable mix. The breads are from Zingerman (Wonderful) and I've noted homemade jam. We Always leave happy and full. My only downside is there is 2 bathrooms and I am pretty sure the ladies room does not lock. So please do knock! Until they finally decide to fix this(it's been well over a year thou haha)
