I was visiting from out-of-town with some friends. It was late at night and snowing. The roads were bad and we were hungry after a long day. Not too many options available. It was pretty much this or eat microwaved package meals from the convenience market at the hotel. Well, it was absolutely worth braving the elements for Valentino's. 24-hour places are getting increasingly difficult to find these days, and often the only thing they have going for them is that they're open at the weird hour you want food. But that's not at all the case here! The restaurant was clean and well lit with fast and friendly service. We all ended up ordering breakfast food that ended up being among the best I've had at any hour. And when so many menus lately have been giving me sticker shock, the prices seemed downright cheap. I paid extra for fries with my burger and didn't receive them. I also paid for extra sauce cups that were never given. The food itself tasted terrible, so even if everything had arrived, it wouldn't have helped much. On top of that, the waitresses were unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy--definitely not the kind of service you expect when you're paying full price. Charging for refills on top of all this is wild. Overall, bad food, sloppy service, and nickel-and-diming customers. Great service and food!! The wait staff is very friendly and the food delivery is quick and the food is delicious!! Our favorite is their chicken Greek salad with homemade pink Greek dressing!! Words can't explain just how Great this service was and the food is exceptional. The servings is incredible, make sure to bring a pillow and blanket because you will enter food coma from all the delicious food. I highly recommend this place! Andy the cook was holding it down all by himself while the restaurant was slammed. Not only did he hold it down but the food came out great! Shout out to Kathy as well she was very positive and lovely. She ran around making sure everyone was taking care of and showed exceptional professionalism. The Oakland Diner. Pontiac- Home of the Oakland car company as well as others- Pontiac! The sorely missed Pontiac Fiero was once built with pride here a stone's throw away.... One time a bustling city, employing tens of thousands, mass producing quality vehicles for the world. The Oakland diner has been totally remodeled as it had previously sat vacant being the old Coco's diner. They have done a fabulous job rebuilding inside and out. Nice and comfortable inside. Nice exterior and parking. The food is always good. Great place for breakfast. They have an awesome breakfast special during the week. Always fast and friendly service. I sure hope this place stays in business. They are good people and serve good food. read more

I only got to order French toast, sausage and bacon but can I say, the bacon was cooked perfectly for me. The bacon was crispy but not burnt and the sausage Pattie's were amazing, it was savory and had a slight hint of heat at the end (I can handle heat well so I'd say it might be different if you can't handle spicy things). But overall I really Enjoyed this place and would go again for sure. There were more things I wanted but since I was getting it to go it was more difficult to choose. read more

I got a menu in the mail as a advertisement mailer and first thought that the menu was a little large being 6-7 pages long. However, I had never heard of the place, so I'm glad they sent it. Made it out there for breakfast this morning, a month after getting the menu. It was not busy and was seat yourself. It seemed like one waitress was running the entire place and was doing it well. The interior seemed new or renovated. There is no Yelp listing, but tons of Google reviews, so I'm unsure of how long they've been around. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. Everything was standard, as expected, but still good. Nothing extraordinary, but good for a decent meal. Larger portions with no wait...as simple as that. Don't let the surroundings of Pontiac steer you away, this place is a diamond in the rough. read more

I ordered the blueberry French toast with two eggs over easy, toast and sausage and was not disappointed! I had already eaten most of my eggs and toast when I realized I wanted to leave a review on how good this place is, so I only have a photo of my second breakfast order. I discovered the diner while dog sitting for my cousin and think it is the greatest thing that could have happened to me. Every time I eat here I am reminded how much I love the cooking because it tastes exactly like my moms. Now I come here when I want to feel at home and eat. Everything from my coffee to food was exceptionally delicious! The waitress was very kind and lovely to talk to (aside: she is also the only waitress in the place currently. I was blessed with an abundance of patience and even though it was not expected I know is was appreciated. These are hard times for everyone and I think a little bit of kindness can go a long way. She could have let stress get the better of her and treated everyone with disdain, but instead she offered a smile.) I regret I did not get her name, kind blonde with glasses from New York. Perfectly seasoned, gorgeous crunch, tender, and not greasy in the slightest. Loved my breakfast here. I had the cinnamon french toast, which is made with their cinnamon swirl bread. It was very good. I would say about what I expected as far as taste. Pretty standard breakfast menu with fair pricing. I will be back! read more

Visited twice Very Clean, Good Atmosphere, Some things are pricey. First visit got the chicken pita. It was great. The second visit I got the 5 piece appetizer chicken strips. They were $9. The strips were pretty small and the yellow fat that you see on some chicken was still on them. Was not pleased after seeing that. read more

Oakland Diner is too rich for my blood. The food isn't bad. But there are some things that could be priced better. A few of the workers could benefit from hours of training in the customer service area. Would I recommend a friend? Probably not. One of my favorite places to come for breakfast with my husband, it's right around the block from us. Everyone is always friendly and gives the best service. Food taste great. I recommend the waffle for breakfast. The pigs in a blanket breakfast is pretty big as well, I do wish they put another piece of sausage in the pancake though. It's a lot of pancake for one sausage. read more
