    Funny D.

The server was great. The food was almost cold, like Luke warm, I don't know I just expected my food to be hot like any other breakfast place I go to would have served it. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful! Would probably do takeout instead of sitting in next time!

The Oakland Diner. Pontiac- Home of the Oakland car company as well as others- Pontiac! The sorely missed Pontiac Fiero was once built with pride here a stone's throw away.... One time a bustling city, employing tens of thousands, mass producing quality vehicles for the world. The Oakland diner has been totally remodeled as it had previously sat vacant being the old Coco's diner. They have done a fabulous job rebuilding inside and out. Nice and comfortable inside. Nice exterior and parking. The food is always good. Great place for breakfast. They have an awesome breakfast special during the week. Always fast and friendly service. I sure hope this place stays in business. They are good people and serve good food.

sausage and bacon. Very Berry French Toast

I only got to order French toast, sausage and bacon but can I say, the bacon was cooked perfectly for me. The bacon was crispy but not burnt and the sausage Pattie's were amazing, it was savory and had a slight hint of heat at the end (I can handle heat well so I'd say it might be different if you can't handle spicy things). But overall I really Enjoyed this place and would go again for sure. There were more things I wanted but since I was getting it to go it was more difficult to choose.

    Menu
    Real A.

I got a menu in the mail as a advertisement mailer and first thought that the menu was a little large being 6-7 pages long. However, I had never heard of the place, so I'm glad they sent it. Made it out there for breakfast this morning, a month after getting the menu. It was not busy and was seat yourself. It seemed like one waitress was running the entire place and was doing it well. The interior seemed new or renovated. There is no Yelp listing, but tons of Google reviews, so I'm unsure of how long they've been around. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. Everything was standard, as expected, but still good. Nothing extraordinary, but good for a decent meal. Larger portions with no wait...as simple as that. Don't let the surroundings of Pontiac steer you away, this place is a diamond in the rough.

Blueberry French Toast Eggs with Sausage!!

I ordered the blueberry French toast with two eggs over easy, toast and sausage and was not disappointed! I had already eaten most of my eggs and toast when I realized I wanted to leave a review on how good this place is, so I only have a photo of my second breakfast order. I discovered the diner while dog sitting for my cousin and think it is the greatest thing that could have happened to me. Every time I eat here I am reminded how much I love the cooking because it tastes exactly like my moms. Now I come here when I want to feel at home and eat. Everything from my coffee to food was exceptionally delicious! The waitress was very kind and lovely to talk to (aside: she is also the only waitress in the place currently. I was blessed with an abundance of patience and even though it was not expected I know is was appreciated. These are hard times for everyone and I think a little bit of kindness can go a long way. She could have let stress get the better of her and treated everyone with disdain, but instead she offered a smile.) I regret I did not get her name, kind blonde with glasses from New York. I would also like to re-give my compliments to the chef, Tony for his wonderfully exquisite food. Thank you for the great morning and I will return excited for more! :)

Really good food and friendly people. The chicken gumbo is my favorite. I wish they were open a little later in the day. They close at 4:00.

It's conveniently not far from his house, so it made for an easy stop, and we're both really glad we decided to give it a try. Right when we walked in, the vibe stood out. The place is really nicely decorated with a cool, welcoming atmosphere that just makes you feel comfortable right away. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which always goes a long way. Shoutout to our waitress--unfortunately I can't remember her name, but it was actually her first day, and she absolutely crushed it. Super attentive, kind, and on top of everything. You would never guess she was brand new. Food-wise, I ordered the American breakfast sandwich (I think it might've gone by a different name before), and it was fantastic. Everything was just right--the eggs were fluffy, the sausage was flavorful, and the lettuce and tomato added a fresh touch that pulled it all together. Every bite hit. My buddy kept it simple with eggs, toast, and tomato slices, but even that looked really good--the tomatoes especially looked fresh and delicious. Overall, great service, great food, and a really cool atmosphere. Hands down, I'll definitely be back.

The bigger issue was the bill: our group was charged 20% gratuity even though the menu clearly stated 18%, and the explanation we got was unclear and undocumented. Big, juicy, and piled with smothered mushrooms plus all the classic burger fixins'. It came with house-made chips seasoned with Cajun and they were SO good. Flavorful, a little kick, but not overpowering. My kids both got Cajun-seasoned fries with their meals and they weren't spicy at all, just really good flavor. One had the cheeseburger (which was huge for a kids meal) and the other had mac & cheese. The mac was good, just not my favorite thing on the table -- but that might just be me being picky. My husband ordered the pepperoni and hot honey flatbread and that was a sleeper hit. The sweet heat combo was perfect. Service was great. Drinks stayed filled, food came out in a good rhythm, and we never felt ignored. The vibe inside is what I'd call an upscale diner. Cloth napkins, nice lighting, clean, comfortable. You could do a casual date night or bring your kids like we did and feel fine either way. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the pricing. $17 for a burger without fries feels a little steep, and adding fries for $3 extra adds up fast. Kids meals at $8 felt fair though. They do have happy hour every day, which is a nice touch.

My wife and I ate here after having a splendid breakfast many months ago we thought we would return for dinner. They sat us by the bar there was no one else in the restaurant not sure why we had to sit next to the bar. We had other customers standing at the bar with her faces with their butts in our faces There were so many other better seats I should've said something but I didn't. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms, which on the picture it showed seven when it showed up there were only five mushrooms. What was missing the most was crab meat it was a literally a bunch a shake on top of barely stuffed mushroom. Mostly fancy sauce and a ton of bread crumbs to hide the lack of crab....for $17! My wife ordered a sandwich which she enjoyed I think it was a Reuben made out of turkey and I ordered a signature Smash burger. We both ordered french fries that looked like they had been sitting in the basket most of the day because they were cold, and we're starting to shrink from sitting out. By the time we were done, my bill was $90 after tipping the waitress paying their 3% rip off fee. We both were expressing discontent as we left through the parking lot. It has been a while since I had breakfast there, which I never read them for and would've given them a five for that but this menu was not that menu.

The main road entrance starts with a welcome sign to Pine Knob Golf Course. The winding road will lead you pass the greens with golfers, then several expensive residential homes. There are two venue banquet buildings called The Carriage and this one called The Pine Knob Mansion. Both have valet parking service at their entrance doors. My photos attached will show how wonderful this place was from start to finish. The ceremony was outside in the Garden Gazebo area overlooking the ski lifts and property of Pine Knob with fold up chairs on the grass area. This venue can accommodate all seasons of the year for many memorable and personal events. The outdoor brick patio was large enough for both cocktail hour after ceremony and again in the evening with a DJ for music and dancing. The Bride and Groom performed their special dances together on it plus with their parents. The wedding and party time continued till midnight! The efficient servers were very attentive when eating the plated sit-down dinner. They also served refill of waters quickly too. The Formal banquet room was very elegant with Chiavari Chairs, along with great lighting. Check out my attached photos of Jess and Phil's special and lovely wedding which expresses it all! The Food was Fantastic and Oh My Deeeelicious along with Great plate presentation! This location can be found on The Knot and has different price packages based on your event for food and desserts. My Friends Phi and Jess opted to bring in their own seasonal desserts with cider and donuts along with mini parfait desserts for that special Fall Style Theme. My photos attached shows a wooden wall with pegs on it for displaying the variety of donuts. What a wonderful and impeccable wedding venue for Phil & Jessica. Thanks to the terrific and pleasant staff who showed teamwork working together serving here at The Pine Knob Mansion. Sincerely, Karen N. SpecialK :-)
