When I think of the perfect Asian Fusion restaurant, it would basically be what Reckless Noodle House is. The flavors were authentic but elevated, the ambiance was moody and romantic. Yes, this place is more expensive than the hole in the wall noodle restaurants you'll find in the International District, but the service, plating, and setting are worth the premium. We ordered the crispy duck rolls as an appetizer. I loved how crunchy they were, and it was fun to roll them up in the lettuce wraps that were provided. The sauce on these rolls was DIVINE and when we ran out of duck filling, my friend and I used the sauce to coat the lettuce wraps to get a bit more of the flavor. It was that good! For the entrees, we chose the Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle and the 5 spice duck. The Ma La noodle is definitely my favorite thing I had here - what can I say about this that other Yelpers haven't already said? The beef was perfectly tender and juicy, the spice was PROPER Ma La, leaving my mouth tingly and numb and craving more. The 5 spice duck was well executed, tender, and flavorful. It came with a side of Bok Choy and mushrooms, and I ate it all up despite not usually being a fan of mushrooms. I had heard great things about the curry noodle soup, but it has seafood and my friend didn't like shrimp (insane, I know). I'll have to try it next time. I'm happy to have a new place to recommend friends looking for a casual date night. read more

This place is for sure a gem! It was outside the main tourist area but thanks to Yelp I was able to find this great restaurant. Going in we reviewed the menu and everything looked excellent and we did not know how we were going to make up our mind but we knew we were in for a treat. We called prior to confirm their hours and make sure you didn't need a Reservation. No reservation was needed but at the time they had an 1.5-2 hr wait. We had the option to put our name on the list over the phone or sign up online to claim a table(online you get text notifications). We got ready to head there and got a text our table was ready a little early, I called and they were very nice to hold the table. The service was great, amazing drinks and we got fabulous recommendations. The lobster larb was so meaty and refreshing. The caramelized prawns were one of my favorite, super crispy, spicy with a little sweet. We got the special garlic green beans, seafood udon and the peanuts. Everything was very fresh with the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and acidic. We also loved the hot sauce we bought some to take home. Excellent establishment and I will for sure be back next Time I am in the area. read more

The noodles were exceptional and complemented perfectly by the braised fatty beef cheek. The eggplant was also great and served with a tasty coconut cream. The rice was fine, but unremarkable, I enjoyed the variety of greens mixed in. The scallops were very tasty, but emblematic of my main issue with this establishment: awfully small portions for the price. The aforementioned meal (plus a couple cocktails) cost each of the 3 members of our party $35, quite expensive in my view for the amount of food we got. I love this place! I would eat here multiple times a week if my wallet would allow it. The cocktail menu is inventive and fun- I frequently order the "Death by Zombie" rum cocktail. It comes with an umbrella and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. "Rebel without a Cause" is also pretty great if you are into Mezcal. For entrees I usually stick with "Hokkien Wok Noodle" and "Tamarind Seafood Udon". They have just the right level of heat for me - I end up getting a flushed sweaty face and I enjoy every minute of it. I send my friends here and they all love it. read more

If I had to choose between rice or noodles, I pick noodles and this place has a quite a bit of different types of noodle dishes. Came here with a girl friend for lunch and made it in time for HH which meant appetizers were almost 1/2 off. I suggest the papaya salad and the duck rolls which were both delicious. Also got the mule which was good, nothing special but it was on HH which is nice. We share the beef cheek noodles which were delicious and the texture of the noodles were nice. The meat was tender and super flavorful. Unfortunately I wasn't the biggest fan of the curry noodles (but i'm usually not a fan of vermicelli noodles because I think they are too thin) but my friend wasn't the biggest fan either. The service was good. We got to sit outside which the weather was perfect on Saturday. Yesterday was my sister's birthday and she didn't expect much for her special day but great service and food for everyone including herself. Customer service was eh. Our server clearly had a note pad and went through each person's order. We had high hopes that everything we ordered would come in time. But of course, one hour passed. Some of us got our food but we were still missing a dish and a side of rice. We kindly asked one of the other servers about it but I guess those 2 items were never put in as an order. It didn't make any sense because they were actually the first few items that we ordered. Sadly, the server was not as apologetic. He just told us that he'll put in the order and that the food would be done shortly. Surely enough we got everything we ordered. When I looked at the menu and saw they served sake we knew we had to try this place. We supposedly were the first to order a bottle of sake..order the sake people!!! We had the cucumber flavor and it was good - definitely on the sweeter side but we drank the whole thing! We had the special thai sauce clams and crispy duck rolls to start...both were amazing, definitely recommend!! The clams were the best I've ever had..please add this to your main menu PLEASE. We had the fried rice and shrimp vermicelli curry noodles for main course - delish! Everything had really tasty flavors and were filling. It was nice to have options for small and large plates for sharing! Service was fast and we didn't have to wait on a Friday night which was a plus. From the intimate ambience to the fabulous cocktails to the delicious food, it is the perfect place for a casual dinner with friends or date night. Reckless Noodle specializes in southeast Asian cuisine and everything is super tasty. I could literally recommend the entire menu. But my favorites are the bo la lot, duck crispy roll, lobster fried rice, beef cheek noodle, and the five spice duck. The cocktail list is fantastic and it will take me years to make my way through the full list! They range from southeast Asian classics like the Singapore Sling to amazing whiskey cocktails like Winter is Coming. My partner and I dropped in for a late dinner and found ourselves greeted by friendly staff who seated us at the bar. The vibe of the place is hip but cozy and not overly pretentious, which made it feel instantly welcoming. The dishes on the menu are quite modern twists on a variety of different Asian classics from different countries, some of which have been given a touch of fusion remix. We ordered the papaya salad, caramelized pork fresh rolls, and the ma la braised beef cheek noodles to share. The rolls and the noodles were spectacular. The pork had a rich savouriness and was cooked to just the right balance of tenderness and gristle. The fresh ginger gave it an extra oomph for its aftertaste, and the tangy, salty fish sauce accentuated all of the flavours. The ma la noodles were just the right amount of numbing spiciness, and the noodles themselves had a good amount of bounce to them. The braised beef cheek melted in the mouth, and I was grateful for the generous portions of beef. The papaya salad was the only disappointing member of the trio. The papaya itself was fresh and the ingredients were good, but it lacked seasoning and flavour overall, and the chili powder sprinkled on top gave the dish an overpowering bitter taste that quickly became off-putting. What a gem of a place! Drinks are creative and yummy- my favorites are the Sazerac, SO 36, and Oh God Yes (yes, that's what it's called... try it ladies!). Food is really good too. Give the eggplant dish a try- you will appreciate the vegetable in a whole new way. The rolls are unique!! And the curry bowl is so good... just the right amount of heat. Actually all their dishes have a unique spin to it, even the dessert! Tapioca with sorbet?? Try that one too! I guess what I appreciate the most is the people working there. Been here a couple of times already and service feels very sincere and personal, and they make an effort to recognize the 'regulars'. Yes they've been open for just 9 days and I've noticed that the owners Bryce and Mario remembered this lady at the bar and even called her by her name. Very impressive! Some friends and I came in for happy hour (4-6pm) and dinner. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and experience here. We came in just before a rush of others arrived on a Friday evening, so we were fortunate to get a table for 3 of us, because this place is pretty small. There are some booths along the outer perimeter, and a long table in the middle next to the bar. The happy hour portion of the duck crispy roll was okay, and I couldn't even tell what part was duck vs. veggies. Nonetheless, it was different but good. Also got a reckless mule cocktail from the happy hour menu; that was yummy! I believe it's made with in-house ginger beer. But it still had a good kick to it, so I appreciated that for a happy hour beverage. For dinner entrees, we shared curry vermicelli bowls - one with beef cheeks, one with shrimp - and banh hoi with rockfish. I particularly really enjoyed the beef cheeks curry noodles, some of the most tender beef I've ever eaten. And the flavor was delicious and not too spicy. The banh hoi had a sauce that was different, but still tasty. The rockfish itself was very flavorful, and for me different than other meats I'd usually get when ordering banh hoi elsewhere. Let me just say that I was extremely excited to check this restaurant out when my boyfriend showed me the pictures on yelp. We ordered the special scallop larb as an appetizer as well as the crispy duck rolls. We ordered our entrees at the same time. We were expecting fried rice and the curry vermicelli bowl. We ordered at approximately 6:25. A huge rush came but we didn't think anything of it because we already ordered. We overheard the waitress telling the party of like 10-12 that the kitchen is small so their food might take longer. We didn't think anything of this because we put in our order before this party gave their order. Fast forward to about 50 minutes later. We already ate our two starters but our entrees still have not arrived. The big party received all of their food and were almost done eating.... even though we had ordered before them. My boyfriend went to go ask the waitress if we can have the check if our food hasn't started yet. She came back with our check and I asked her if they even started our food. She said sorry there was a huge rush so they didn't even start our entrees. This was an hour after we had ordered and it didn't make any sense why they hadn't even STARTED our meals yet. The waitress seemed unapologetic and basically shrugged off the fact that we had waited so long and the party that ordered after us received all of their meals before us. She took our card to process our payment for what we did eat which was about $36 dollars worth of food that was not good at all and then came back with a $146 charge to our card. I tried to say excuse me and she completely ignored me. Another employee had to fix the charge and he ended up voiding our whole bill which was very nice of him but with the whole situation I think it was only right. The food that we did get was not as good as I was hoping. The scallop larb that was on the special was way too salty and was $19 for 3 large pieces of scallops. I love taking my (Asian) parents to Americanized Asian restaurants bc it's different, yet familiar. They usually disapprove of the food, but I think they were pretty impressed with the flavors here. We ordered the HH duck rolls for our appetizer. My mom really liked the flavor so she ordered another one lol. My favorite was the beef cheek noodles. We also ordered the turmeric rockfish dish and the reckless fried rice. All dishes were tasty. We were still hungry so we ordered the grilled beef in betel leaves (bo la lot). This Vietnamese dish traditionally uses ground beef and not a grilled piece of beef and we were not a fan of this dish. The desert was probably my favorite. It was coconut lime sorbet (?) with white tapioca, li hing, and caramelized pineapples (drool). I will be back for this of all dishes. Cons: Price point is pretty high, street parking, and it is more of a bar ambience than a restaurant to me. read more
